  • This short screencast covers how to create calculated fields using built-in Access functions such as Date and Int to calculate a person's age in years, as well as how to create custom functions using VBA. In this process the Expression Builder is used to reveal/find the existing built-in functions within Access and the Visual Basic Editor (VBE) is used to create a new custom function that is used to make a calculation in a query.

Excellent video. I hope you’ll do more on Vba functions, especially custom ones.

This book might be old, but I thought it was one of the best ones for VBA programming: www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-Access-2007-VBA/dp/0789737310/ref=sr_1_20?keywords=vba+access+programming&qid=1668112735&sprefix=vba+access%2Caps%2C264&sr=8-20

VBA really hasn't changed a whole lot for a very long time given Microsoft's strategy has been to push C# vs. Visual Basic so old books still work pretty well for this.
