    Thanks a lot from France. This video was truly helpful to repair our overheating CRV. I changed the thermostat, fan switch, temperature sensor, and the coolant. I don't know what was the culprit but anyway it was a cheap and easy fix with the help of your video. Hope to see more about the CRV ^^.

    I’ve been having so many issues with my 01 crv, automatic transmission will shift in and out of 4th and won’t go into Over Drive. I cleaned both top and bottom shift solenoids and changed the transmission oil (3 times as recommended by manual)
    The problem still persists after that so I read a forum and turns out that the thermostat was malfunctioning and was staying open causing the engine to “over cool” and the temp sensor would send a signal to the TCM that the engine was not at operating temp so the TCM would kick the transmission out of 4th down to 3rd. After I replaced the thermostat, boom! Problem went away.
    If your reading this and have the same issue as I described, go with the basics first.
    ✌️

    Thanks!! Getting ready to tackle this project. Daughter is having overheating and slow to start issues. Doing research, it appears to be the engine coolant temp sensor and was planning to replace that. After watching this, and considering that you have to drain the coolant and move all those hoses and lines and parts, it’s probably much smarter to do all 3 (ECT, fan switch, thermostat) all at the same time. That way they are all done and no questions as to another part being at fault or failing in very near future. One of those “while your in there” situations.

      @@h0melyfe792 I ordered the temperature sensor from Amazon and it's the size of a 22mm socket, but the one installed on my 2000 CRV is a smaller socket size. Now I don't know if I got the wrong part or what.

    Help !!!
    My 2001 Honda CRV B20Z1 gives fault P0118 (engine coolant temperature), cold starts ok, but when hot it is hard to start or let it cool down and when it starts it seems flooded and shakes. After circulating it goes well and the needle of the frame is stable, the fans work well. I changed thermostat (not original) and thermostat sensor (original), should I change the other sensor of the engine block?, or will it be the fault of the mainrelay or distributor cap?
    Thank you very much in advance.

      Don’t take my word for it, but If it happened to me.. I would check the wires that are connected to the engine coolant temperature sensor first. Maybe it’s old and needs replacing. If not that, then most likely the sensor itself is bad. It’s not expensive and fairly easy to replace, then I would replace coolant as well and make sure to air the system out.

    Good video. I have a 99 CRV also. It starts great when it's cold, but it's hard to start when it's warm and runs real rough and smokes for a minute. Could a bad coolant temp sensor cause that? Like maybe telling the computer the engine is cold, and the computer makes the mixture rich when it doesn't need to be? I've replaced the main fuel relay as recommended by a friend, but it didn't help. Thanks.

    • @h0melyfe792

      Thanks! Yeah might be the sensors.. you might as well replace the thermostat and bleed the air out. 👍 keep me up to date.

    my 01 crv lx is having an issue where when i go past 40 mph the temperature gauge starts to rise going past the 2 water waves/close to the red mark but when i bring the mph back to 40 or below the temperature goes back down and to the normal half way mark. My fans turn on but only when i turn the ac on. Are they suppose to come on by them selves and if they are is this an indicator that my fan switch needs to be replaced or is it the fans? Checked for a blown head gasket and the test came out negative, the top hose is hot and the lower one is cool. Thats suppose to indicate that my thermostat works right? I think my water pump does work but what would be a symptom if it didn't work? My crv is at 147k miles. Im confused as to why my crv just started to randomly rise on the temperature gauge... Any help is appreciated

    Will it matter which direction the coolant temp switch is facing as long as it's snug? also, your switch looks like it has a longer nipple in comparison to NAPA one. are they all the same? This is tsame as the enginge cooing fan switch right? www.partsource.ca/search?type=product&q=engine*+cooling*+fan*+switch*

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the one you linked looked like the temperature coolant sensor.. and it shouldn’t matter as long it doesn’t leak. I just like to put it back the way it was before. The fan switch should be fatter in comparison, well at least for my CRV it was.

      kc thrasher.. sometimes you just have to bleed the system out after new coolant.

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      kc thrasher.. you might as well change the sensors and thermostat if your going to change coolant.. but most of the time the fix is as simple as bleeding the system out.
