Toilet while taking a major dump! Nothing weird about it but it just shows how practical the Shokz bone-conduction headsets are. This call was important. I didnt even realize I had the headset donned and connected. One button push and call was good to go. This was an unbeatable shit- in every sense of the word.
Agreed. I bought one though and I'll say this: yeah they are kinda comfy with glasses, but they don't hold any bend/shape so they are meant to be a cheap universal fit rather than a personalized universal fit. The mic works fine with background noise but it basically sounds like a mic with noise cancelling from 2012. The mic is awful if you want to record a video and just good enough for phone calls but better than any other bone conduction headphones mics. If you want to use while driving, they're extremely reliant on you using your phone. If you're listening to music on them then you can use siri, but it's way better to just use your truck speakers and bluetooth. Sound for calls and music is different as they don't have true bass. As I mentioned before with their unadjustable fit, the sound might be uneven and come better on one ear than the other. For me, left is always better than right because of how it rests on my ears. Laying down can be tough, but it works alright, and on your side is better than with headphones but not comfortable enough to sleep on. The controls are basically useless and the beeping feedback for volume adjustment and power and checking battery is loud, the same volume level no matter what, and annoying because it doesn't adjust. The sound is convenient because it does work in mirror with your phone audio, so there aren't separate audio controls. These are better than those single-ear damaging headphones with mic and you can use hearing protection well with these. They connect fast, but have no media controls so the volume buttons only give general low medium or high battery life feedback, or allow longpress to turn on or off. Really expected a lot more from these for being almost $200.
I purchased the COMM2, not great, bought comm2 UC, massive difference, I like them. I use mine for zoom calls only though, use Airpods elsewhere, so can’t speak to their use in non-virtual meeting environments.
What is the advantage against run pro 2? Is the call quality comparable worse ? What if to use OpenComm2 on hikes (outdoor) etc instead of open run pro 2, I like dedicated microphone and larger battery capacity
Just ordered mine from Amazon. I'll be brand new to the technology but I trust I'll adapt. Just sick and tired of wired headsets. Every pair I've ever had winds up developing a short from the cord accidentally being pulled too hard, and I'm also tired of being tethered physically to my devices along with being uncomfortable with something over or in my ears.
I will put that to the ultimate test from a truck driver standpoint. With the blue parrot c400, window down and noise around me. People was thinking i was at home alone. The blue parrot m300 garbage. Kept muting everybody where nobody could hear each other at all. The product in this video is expensive and i am thinking it’s not actually ideal for a truck driver.
Hard to believe anything after he says "Great sound quality" I prefer my G7 for many reasons, and it has IMO better, passable sound quality. Both sound better than the Run or Pro... for the record, Opencom has the best BC mic I've tried and you can find actual sound samples in more thorough and honest reviews.
Can these be used to record both ends of a phone call? Google locked down Bluetooth recording so call recording apps only record you, but does the alternative connection bypass Google's lockdown?
How do you find wearing them with your glasses? I've found most of these around the neck and over the ear headsets cause my glasses to rub against the side of my head.
Would be GREAT if they worked with Cisco Jabber, but they do not. I've tried both the UC version and the non-UC version. Neither will allow you to answer the Cisco Finesse Phone with the button on the headset. Sound quality and comfort is really good, just wish they worked with my setup.
would like this for gaming, i never in my life bothered having a normal headset for gaming since they give me the biggest headache after 10 min no matter what i buy but have a feeling these will work just wonder if they have good sound for games
The app is a bit disappointing. This model is not supported by app on phone, and PC app only let's you update. Would expect more, e.g. to turn off a voice when mute/unmute.
Do you get better sound using the Shockz loop thing? I absolutely love my other Shockz headsets (I work from home and wear them all day) but the only sad thing about them is that using bluetooth you can either have “headphones” (which gives better quality sound) OR “headset” if you want to use the mic… but then you’re stuck using an inferior audio codec to listen with. Annoyingly a wired headset always allows top fidelity audio at the same time as using a mic.
Ah, checked myself and the answer is “no”, it’s still limited by Bluetooth standards (same as the other models) and the “loop connector” is just a BT connector not a proprietary anything. A2DP profile = great quality audio when listening to music. HSP profile = far crappier audio than the unit is capable of when on a call. 😢 When my current ones break, these are probably what I’ll replace them with, however!
Great is it worth the upgrade, the problem I have with the original is that it does not pause music/video on the iPhone it does work for Samsung. Can this version pause music/video on iPhone
I'm listening to this with my Trex Air. I've been using them for 4 years. Good sound, great battery life. They have survived life in the oilfield for 4 years. I'll be upgrading soon.
Mine comes with that USB tiny device that says "pairing to PC," so at first I thought it was not Mac-comaptible. I guess PCs (which I hate but have to use at work and the reason I got these) need the adaptor?
I've got the OpenComm original headset and LOVE it for all the reasons. you give except one. I do start feeling tension against my head where the ear pieces sit after just a few hours. I end up taking the things off between calls by the end of the day. I wonder if the 2 UC model is a little larger with maybe a little less tension. What do you think?
@whatisiswhatable Well, I discovered that because I had my VPN set to Canada. It was given me the Canadian prices but it still cost 159 like the original open com once. I turned off the Canadian VPM. So i'm probably gonna go ahead and buy the opencomm2 .
I've had a pair of Shockz for about 5 years and love them, use them all the time on my bike. I'm looking for a better way of voice commands for my insta360 X3 and GoPro, can these pair with these action cameras?
Loved the original until my mic started crackling. Bought the new model and love it as a trucker head set. I am having an issue controlling volume when i link it to ps5. Im doing something wrong. The old one was great on ps5. Any ideas?
I'm not a big fan of over the ear for gaming and was wondering if anyone has tried this for gaming. Also what's the difference between Opencomm 2 and Opencomm 2 UC. TY
Should be called: "Slightly better than the original, bug-ridden original". I really tried to like my original Opencomm, but it was horrible. After having it swapped several time by Shoks, I still have a headset that is about as good as the other bone conduction headphones. The original Opencomm had a lot of problems when paired with 2-devices (one of it's main features). There is no way to control which has precedence or how to switch among them. But denying that these issues exist, you are already sounding like a shill who is just making a commercial.
@@MarkEllisReviews oh, so in this particular video this matter?) without direct examples, this is just talking about how stylish these headphones are. But I think that this was the restriction of the brand. Looks like this is commercial and they asking you not to show the quality of the mic. This is the theory, I don't know the truth, but… come on, this it too obvious.
I have an openrun pro that has lasted years, although I had to glue one side back into place after a year when the adhesive gave out and was dangling by the wires. I'm a DIYer so fixing it was relatively easy.
Where's the weirdest place you've had to take a remote call?

You could have given a sample of the mic audio quality somewhere in the video. Is it that bad that you chose not to share it?
You oughta do a microphone test and record clips to compare this with other headsets for us to judge
All he go is trust me, I can gurantee, bla bla. But we never heard his voice through the mic of this set.
Agreed, No mic test on a headset not a review at all.
Shokz got in touch with him... Okay.

I use the OG model since they were introduced and love those far better than any other type of headphones. Looking forward to try the version 2.
Me.Too But $209.00 Is Too Much . The OpenComm Cost 159.00 . 50.00 Extra Plus Tax Is Absurd .
OG?
@@tonyh4513 OG means version 1
Running/Walking wearing them connected to Garmin must be a sweet experience. Can’t wait to see the review. This one too, ace as always :)
Sound quality good enough for music as well? No need to be super bassy but just good enough
\
Can I hear audio from my laptop and my phone at the same time?

Love mine for an open plan office, couldn't do without them. Next trial will be on a long haul flight in a few days time :)
Brilliant channel and videos you create here 👍👍🤗
Thank you!
I have used these headphones since 3rd gen Aftershokz Air and I love them.
Sounds like ist also can be a very Slim Gaming Headset too
Nice sounding review, but basically useless to me as there's no mic sample.

Good review. If one already has bluetooth do you see any reason to pay the extra for the model which includes the dongle?

That 16 Hours Is Really More Like 20hours Per Charge On OpenComm So Im Assuming V2 Is.The.Same . My.OpenRun Pro Last 12 to 14 hours Per Charge .
Which is better to you ows or shokz

man i just want one of these that comes with a deticated 2.4ghz reciever for pc use. the reciever that these come with is just a bluetooth reciever.
