One thing I always preach: set up a template in your DAW! The time it saves having everything ready to go is unreal-you’ll thank yourself every session!
@@jjbing3 try the best of both worlds, set up a template but leave some things open so you can still do those comfortable steps that help you ease into the process.
The best production tip I have received is "there's freedom in the clips." Everything does not need to be set in stone because once you go too far down the rabbit hole of whatever idea you're trying to achieve, it's hard to make changes down the road if need be. No I.D. said this on his Breakfast Club interview around the time 4 : 44 by Jay-Z came out, if I'm not mistaken.
The greatest tip I can give anyone is...BACK UP YOUR ISH! I lost all the stuff I did for a decade (beats, samples). When that happened, I basically stopped making any music for about that long
THIS!! Years ago, I used to use the same laptop for both producing and DJing. One night, I was DJing at a bar, and someone accidentally knocked a glass of wine onto my laptop. I lost everything. Ever since, I’ve made it a point to back up my files regularly!

do you have any recommendations for templates ? i can't find one that properly matches my needs in production
The easiest thing to do is make your own, that way you can personalize it to include exactly what you need. What DAW are you using?
definitely on my to do list once I establish a workflow that works for me

Exactly! I spend more time watching and listening to interviews than making music though. 😑👀
Haha I know that feeling, gonna try and rebalance that in 2025 though!
I used to be like that but then I discovered compilation deadlines XD

Kanye did the remake thing
I reckon lots of people do when they are starting out!
Find a melody, change a few chords or keys and go from there.
