That looks really good but I can never find that style hockey mask. The only version I find has three or four vertical lines over the mouth and not holes :(

Man, if only these kinds of tutorials were around when I was a kid. Growing up, we lived in the country on a lake. Obviously, I was a fan of the Jason movies and wanted my own mask so I got one of the original ones from Spencer's gifts. It only had like 6 holes in the face, so I had to drill them all out (but the thing wasn't meant to be "worked" since it was basically rubber). I didn't know about FX or weathering techniques so I just threw it in the mud to make it look weathered. Man, it got to where it stank. lol Had to retire it after a while and after I got "too old" for such toys. That didn't last long though, but I think most kids go through phases. Anyway, great video!

I'm more of a Myers fan but damn Jason's mask is awesome, and surprisingly more easy to replicate and create than Myers' mask. That being said this little project here would be something I'd love to do

glad i found this. got the cheapest mask i could on amazon and going to need to rework it backwards as it's already painted. but i think i can make use of your techniques. i was thinking "dirty fingerprints" like if jason removed the mask or even a faded/light bloody smeared handprint like a victim reached up before dying. might look cool. or all of the above with different masks!
All it's missing are leather straps. Any easy methods you can recommend for adding the axe mark over the eye, and the damage to the lower left portion, a la part 7? Great job, btw!
I remember seeing a similar video few years back and been meaning to do this.. we went dumpster diving an usually do after seasons an holidays bc stores throw away stuff an we found a lot of stuff but my woman found a dollar general Jason mask so looked it up on TH-cam and now I took the head strap off and sanded it and my woman does arts and crafts and she had a bottle of toasted marshmallow acrylic paint and I just applied 2 coats on it and it looks good bc it’s literally almost looks like your almond but maybe better 👍🏻 and tomorrow bc it’s 7:00 am and work late shift tonight will do the next steps but I may try to hand paint the red lines then maybe take something to it to make it seem weathered idk but this is an awesome video and thank you
Now show how you can add the axe cut in the forehead from Part 3 and the missing chunk along the lower left jaw from Part VI to get that awesome Part VII look. I already have the latex mask of Jason's head so I want to complete the look.
This mask has the look of FVJ (without the scratches), but the chevrons of the remake. This honestly would’ve been a good mask design for one of the movie

I used your video to paint a .98 cent Wally World mask! It turned out great! I wore it with a blue mechanic overalls tonight while giving out candy
When sanding the mask, do you normally leave the back side of the mask alone, or do you sand that off as well?

Thanks! I have a dremel tool now, which is what I use to make ax marks and damage. But before I had that I just cut them out with regular scissors.

I love a shiny mask, so I always prefer that over a flat finish. To me it makes it look more like a real finished product.
