    Hey everyone! :) A while ago I made a video on a really cool book by Jonah Berger called Contagious. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/HfSs_hOAkzY/w-d-xo.html
    This time, it's his new book and he's the one narrating. Enjoy.
    In case you find it interesting, here's an affiliate link to the book: amzn.to/2cfelDJ

      I'm confused .... being a chameleon and being different are two separate behaviours right... isn't this a contradiction??

    • @GreyHillMafia
      @GreyHillMafia 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the distinction of "being a chameleon" is matching the other person whilst socializing as an example. However be different in your preferences or styles.

    Hey, man! You could use a little less (or none) wiggle effect! They seem silly when applied simply like you`ve done it here.
    Please don`t get me wrong, love your videos and you are a big inspiration for my channel, just thought I could leave my thoughts about this silly little detail!
    Loved the video, man, thanks for this amazing content!

    I have experienced this lots of times, for example one guy at my class started working out in the gym a lot, and even though that I was a lot bigger and stronger than him, he somehow gave me motivation to train harder, because i wanted to train more than him even though I already was training harder than him. So because of him starting to train I became more motivated to train harder than i already did.

    If you want to sale something you must appear non threatening, mimic is an action of lower status, and maks a buyer feel that has the control of the situation ie safer. from the other hand if the case is to force influence somewhere... you shuld never adjust your ways with anyone.
    You helped me realize the above,

    Wow, I just landed an awesome high commision sales job selling solar panels and that energy saving study helps a lot. I'm going to integrate the neighbor method into my pitch.

    • @taoist32
      @taoist32 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bao Nguyen why not be an actual neighbor first and become friends? It's easier to trust someone when they are real friends. Long term strategy for long term benefits. There is no benefit to your neighbor if you are just pitching him or her. It gets annoying, irritating, and pretty soon they want to be left alone or move away.

    • @BaoNguyen-iv1zx
      @BaoNguyen-iv1zx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I'm not pitching to anyone that I know, especially my neighbor. That's not what I meant.
      When I said the neighbor method I'm refering to 5:34 in this video

  • @RonFlux
    @RonFlux 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Your explanation of "Harness the drive to be different" does not make sense to me. Because the people try to be different, they choose something else to be unhappy with their choice? They avoid a restaurant where it is crowded to be different? Where do they harness that drive? I do not see it in your examples.

    I didn't understand the second example. You say that people tend to want to be different, but then say that the group with the individuals that actually could make sure that they were different (because they knew about everyone else's orders) were far less satisfied. So their desire to be different was harnessed, but the result was that they were unhappy, how's that good for you?

    Dear FightMediocrity, I am a big fan of your TH-cam channel and I have a question regarding books like the 7 habits. How do I go about becoming more proactive and changing my mindset/ attitude so that I'm more confident/productive/ etc. Thanks!

    • @siddharthb9022
      @siddharthb9022 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, what I found out that might work for you is that, you can start becoming more proactive by changing your habits. Start small by changing your habits and your thought process. Your actions are preceded by your thoughts and most of your actions are based on your habits. As you can continue to do this and work on changing yourself, you'll slowly Transform into that person you want to become. Just keep going, be persistent and trust the process...... that's what I found helps most people change. So it might work for you too, try giving it a shot!
