And of the former CBI, he was the first to join the FBI, having been there while Jane was in Mexico. There is no indication that Abbot had any reason to doubt his intelligence before this.

@The Program I always operated under the assumption he knew but just didn't talk about/admit it to anyone. It wasn't his/their business. So he just played dense. Especially with how he'd shown in the past that he's pretty deductive about that stuff (like RigsPelt). Furthermore, I think later on (near their wedding?) he makes a comment about 'seeing this coming' or 'always thought it'd happen'. I think that is proper Cho fashion he operated as 'If it's yo bidness, it's not Cho's bidness'
I feel like Abbott was shipping Jane and Lisbon since he met them. I mean, when he talked with Lisbon at the CBI he always referred to Jane as Lisbon's boyfriend. And when Lisbon started dating Pike, he tried to talk Jane into talking to Lisbon. He always knew that there was something going on between them despite only knowing them for such a short period of time. I think it's hilarious that Cho, though he worked with them for literally YEARS, never caught up with that. Honestly, I didn't like Abbott at first but I grew quite fond of him.
Fisher & Abbott could see that Jane & Lisbon loved each other, but somehow Van Pelt, Cho & Rigsby never could see it. I think Rigsby did mention saying he & Van Pelt thought they'd end up together, though. ;)

I don't think I'll ever believe that Cho thought they were like brother/sister. Cho seems too sharpe and observant. This scene was so good though that it actually didn't bother me.
Rigsby and Van Pelt happened soon after Grace joined the CBI so it would be really obvious. Jane and Lisbon went for years without anything happening (bearing in mind Cho doesn't see all the parts when it's just those 2 together as the TV audience does) so over 5 years or so probably got used to that just being the deal with them. Abbot comes in as a new person with a fresh perspective, able to see things as they currently are, so it's much easier for him to spot something going on.

Professional liars... it’s simply what they do. Often it starts out as believing in something. That power of belief is a subconscious influence. It’s simply why psychological manipulation is a real thing. The only way to defend yourself from it... is to both have experienced it and to recognize the patterns from both a intellectual perspective and a personal experience connotation. Which is why it is very important to recognize and learn from experience then implement processes and protocols to recognize the potential situations and limit negative consequences and outcomes.
Because instead of telling Lisbon to stay because he loved her (which she so badly wanted to hear and kept trying to get him to say), he waited until she gave up and made plans to move on before trying to get her to stay by tricking her and making her feel like an idiot for trusting him. Years of loyalty from her and he still could neither let her go, nor let her get as close as she wanted. She was rightfully infuriated.

People theorize Cho may have played dumb to respect their privacy but I'm not sure--he's at least a fan of minding his own business, and Rigsby was usually swept up in his own affairs. I feel certain Van Pelt knew, the way you can see her make space for the two of them with her glances and body language throughout the length of the show. Abbott got a good look at the whole team from the inside out, but even so, I always felt he had a certain gift for sussing out hidden affection. Although I'm sure it helped that he very likely saw Lisbon scoop up and save Jane's broken teacup, and read Jane's letters to Lisbon from the island. Hard to miss the love there.
