from what i could see, it looks like the 2 lead vehicles arent just macks but have genuine mack engines too. wheres the rest of the excavator? did qantas baggage handlers lose the rest?
Yes true breed Macks. And yeah nah, no conspiracy from the Qantas baggage handlers! 😃 Actually, I did spot a shovel bucket hydraulic ram on the back of flat top semi, somewhere on this day. Thinking was for this Excavator.
This machine is pretty heavy, if both parts needs a push-pull setup. I like the "foreign" prime mover, she's a pretty Western Star. Is Taylor Haulage a new company? It's interesting K & S couldn't find a fourth rig and they needed an outside firm's help. Another amazing catch Terry, these massive oversize loads are always fabulous.
Yes Zsolti. A real heavy lift, this excavator! K & S have a decent size fleet of trucks to pick from, re using Taylor Haulage's Western Star. But maybe the driver, is quite experienced with oversize and helper truck jobs? And, I really haven't noticed Taylor Haulage, until recently. I'll try to search on any history of that company..Thanks for commenting.
Great video Terry.... nice shots of both the lead Macks torqued up climbing Bindoon Hill 💪💪 and showing just how fast they can go on the down hill run.. poor pusher drivers pretty much just hanging on for the ride and keeping it straight.... cheers 👍
Yeah thanks Wilson. I'd think the helper pull trucks being up front would be the safest!😃 I try to capture the heavy ones going up the hills, by zooming in and you can see by the lean over on some of the prime movers have , using all that torque rounding the bends!
Terry, do you know how these huge machines come into W.A. from overseas? Are they in smaller parts coming in on ships and then assembled in Perth maybe.?
I know the Westrac ones, are assembled here, at South Guildford. And the Liebherr plant have a assembly plant at Redcliffe. Komatsu and Hitachi both have assembley plants here in Perth also. But in saying that, there's heaps of big machinery and agricultural harvestors and tractors etc. That do arrive at Fremantle Port, in the vehicles carrier ships. I'll make sure to check the offloaded cargo next time I visit Freo.

BHP must be one of Liebherr's best customers, they seem to buy both 996B and 9600's by the dozen. Great footage
Yes, went quiet on seeing Liebherr big excavators on the roads, for a while. But BHP, doing alright in buying them.
