Great space saver ideas. We're going on a 10 day cruise next week in an inside cabin, so these ideas are rather timely. For this cruise, I'm bringing 10 metal hangers and 2 hanger devices that let you group 5 hangers together and droop down. You can usually ask your cabin attendant for extra regular hangers but I'm bringing them myself and then donate them to the ship for future cruisers. Since our cruise is 10 days, we are going to put out the first 5 days of clothes and then swap at the midpoint with clothes left in the luggage underneath the bed. We'll see how things work out. Regardless, we will enjoy the warm sunshine and ocean views. ⚓

I use a CPAP machine. We put the magnetic hooks on the ceiling and run the extension cord OVER the bed so we don't have to worry about tripping on it, or having to unplug and store it every morning.

A hanging shoe organizer is a must for the bathroom.

I will take those hooks that you’re talking about putting on the ceiling and I take two of them and hang a shoe organizer from them on one of the bare walls. This helps us all to be able to throw things in and have a nice little spot to keep everything organized. And it doesn’t mess up the doors. Another thing that I like to do is take the little round garbage can that is in the main part of the room and I will put it in to the bedside cabinet and store all my smaller stuff in there such as earplugs, vitamins/medication‘s, that days jewelry if I am just climbing straight into bed. The garbage can is so small that it fits perfectly inside and we usually don’t have that much garbage in our room.

The ceiling hooks are a good idea, especially if you have a damp bathing suit & the room has a ceiling vent. Your suit will dry much faster there instead of it the bathroom

I have a European adaptor that gives me a US outlet and a couple of USB spots. Allows me to use that outlet and reminds me I need to take a Mediterranean cruise!! The room divider is an awesome idea. Use my magnets on the ceiling by the AC vent with a pant hanger to dry swimsuits quickly.

I purchased an EU plug USB multi-charger off of eBay. It lets me take advantage of the EU power in the cabin for my digital devices. And I like the idea of using it on Mediterranean cruise in the future! 😄

I never thought to buy a European adapter charger to take advantage of the other plug in I'm never able to use before 😮. I'll need to check out Amazon to see if I can buy one from there 🤔.

We take electric tea lights which we leave in the bathroom for nighttime navigation.

I love packing cubes. They make packing and unpacking so easy. I have some that have two sides to them. I can put clean clothes in one side at start of trip, then fold and pack them when dirty on the other side. The clothes are separated at all times and at the end of trip, all those dirty clothes are already in the cube to toss in the suitcase making repacking quick and easy. Also keeps everything organized and neat in a small cabin.

Not sure if I missed it, but after cruising in many insides, we learned to bring electric tea light candles. The cabin is like a cave with no light and while it’s great for sleeping, u can hurt yourself on the way to the loo!

These work for all cabins but especially for insides where space is limited and making use of every skerrick of room means it isn't so claustrophobic. There's a lot of cruisers who treat their cabin as just a place to sleep and spend their free time in one of the public areas. I did a cruise where we had a lot of sea days and we'd spend our mornings up in the Crows Nest bar with an espresso coffee and a good book, looking out over the ocean ahead. Often there would be whales to spot, other ships passing, a distant coastline and so on. A typical balcony cabin only gets one side of the view, but we had it all and no sun or wind or rain to bother us.
Another bonus of an inside is that they are closer to the ship centreline and so, in some sea conditions, they won't move as much as one further out.
I'm not a fan of insides but they can be had for great prices, those cruise days add up to gain membership status, and hey, it's always better to be cruising than not, right?

The hanging curtains, would be good sound proofer… perhaps?

California Linda shares that she also brings an European adapter as well as a motion detector light. This provides a safety light for night without waking others in the cabin and no more stumbling about the cabin. We always enjoy your vlogs and podcasts. Thank you for the professional, informative and the timely recommendations as many of us return to cruising. 👍

Love the tips when we cruise we always try for balcony cabins or better but had friends that I told them that they always get inside cabins so I told then when you go to bed turn on t.v and put on bridge cam and turn down the volume that way you will wake up to a new day even in the inside cabin

My best tip for an inside cabin or any cruise cabin first is to pack light. Also, whenever you go back up on deck, bring your dirty glasses and dishes up to put in the bins in the eating areas. Don't wait for the staff to take them away. I am always happier and more relaxed when there is no clutter in the cabin.

We just got off Harmony and used magnet hooks on the ceiling in the bathroom to hang wet bathing suits to dry...
As well as used them in the "door jam" of the balcony door to to hang bathingsuits/towels to dry when we were in the room

Also can use Command hooks and clips as well. Sometimes the Command hooks can hold more weight then the magnets like holding your hanging toiletry bag on the wall of the bathroom or hanging your hoodies by the door. The Command clips can be used by hanging your paperwork on the wall near the desk, we actually hung them on the room mirror on the side because it put it right in front of us at the desk.

Topher and I have not sailed in an Inside Cabin yet...although we've been trying to since 2018. Our upgrade bids have been accepted or we get a good upgrade deal. One time our ship was changed and we got upgraded to a balcony. However, our cruise coming up in 77 days from Hawaii to Tahiti on Norwegian Spirit is booked as an Inside Stateroom. We booked it when our other cruises on NCL got cancelled in 2020 back when it was insanely cheap. Even Inside Staterooms are crazy expensive on this cruise now so I don't think we'll get an upgrade on it...although we did submit a bid. Thanks for the info, Sheri!

There are all-in-one power adaptors that you can purchase which connect to various types of outlets on the ship and provide an additional outlet whether it be 110 volt or 220 volt. They also contain several USB outlets. P.S. Love the towel animal on the bed!

Hubby and I are planning a road trip in September. We're taking a large duffle and a small one. The large is to pack our clothes, the small is for dirty laundry, until we can get somewhere to do laundry.

If you can reach the ceiling, your magnet hook will hold the maximum amount of weight. So, you can hang your organizers from the ceiling full of stuff & it should work really well as long as you have someone tall.

On our first cruise, the main room coffee table was so heavy we thought it was bolted to the floor. So..note on that when it comes to moving some furniture...it may be VERY weighted (probably to avoid it easily sliding about on bumpy waves)

Is “door decorating” still a thing? Can you use the magnets to decorate the outside/front of the door??

    • @cheryldep6316
      @cheryldep6316 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, door decorating is still a thing!!! 💙 However, probably only 20% of cruisers decorate theirs. We always decorate ours when we are cruising and love seeing what other people decorate their doors with. On our last cruise, for some reason the magnets would not stick to the door but they stuck to the outside wall just to the side of the door under our cabin #.
By the way, I just purchased some great sea-themed decor at Dollar Tree for our cruise next week (May 2022) and some heavy duty magnets. Great time of year to pick up sea, beach, nautical decor, and they were only $1.25 each. 🐚⚓🌊🏖🛳
BTW Love the wall divider idea. This is the first time I have seen that suggestion. We will definitely use that when more than 2 of us cruising in 1 cabin.

I tried the shower curtain as a divider on my first cruise. But I bought the wrong cheap curtain because I could still see thru the other side and I needed one such that you couldn't while changing clothes.

Last time I was on a cruise in Feb 2022 the beds on the carnival radiance balcony cabins were hard and uncomfortable for me since it was a short cruise I just tolerated it. Do you know if carnival still can put an egg crate on your bed if you ask them for one. Or is this a covid thing and they don’t do it anymore. If so I wonder if I can bring my own because I did not sleep very well on those beds last cruise woke up achy and not well rested.
