Thank you for all of the useful product and how to videos you've produced. I've learned a ton! My question is... can you recommend a filter attachment for the iPhone 14 Pro Smallrig cage that covers all of the phones lenses simultaneously? For my purposes I'm not a fan of the magnetic filters Smallrig attachment system, and Moondog told me that the fit of their filter adaptor ring on the Smallrig cage's M mount/bayonet is not ideal. Any suggestions? Thanks and keep up the great work!
Interesting about Moondog… That’s the one I was going to suggest and that’s actually the one I use and I’ve had no problem… yet. The mount seems to fit fine to me on the cage. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video. Thanks. Beautiful images achieved. Good shots. good work. I aim for this, but for my project I have financing that does not allow me to obtain 2 iphon 13, so I have to go for 8, two cameras and use the mooddog lbas.
No vignetting here. But the larger camera bump definitely causes challenges with other gear and with the 3x telephoto in particular - not vignettes, but sharpness as it’s made it very tricky to use with third-party lenses, etc.
I just ordered a moondog lens (not much satisfied with moment). How is this lens on the telelens? I guess this might have focus issues due to longer focus distance of 3x lens. Is it making sharp image on the telelens?
It’s interesting… And I’m doing more testing, but with the SmallRig setup the Tele + Moondog is kind of soft - you really have to nail your focus. But I just finally got a Moment case (been very slow because of all the supply chain issues etc.) and it’s more consistently sharp using it. The larger camera bump is causing issues. I’m going to be testing Beastgrip gear with it soon too. And actually going to do a video about this. So long story short, it works OK but you do need to be careful and really pay attention to focus.
Excellent video Blake👏🏼🙌🏼. Luv ur work man💯. These things look so much better than the moment lense I have, im tempted to toss it out, a d get one of these😂. I wonder will they make a 1.55x version 🤔?
@@iphoneographers I surely hope they will put that size anamorphic into production. And I completely agree with you about liking those lenses. Between the moondog, and the mk2 beastgrip Anamorphics, I'm tempted to sell my moment anamorphic. However, I will not be selling my tele, or fisheye lenses from moment 😁. Lol!
Excellent film and example of iPhone13 ProMax/Moondog Labs Anamorphic combination. Exactly what I wanted to see. Two questions- Does the Moondog Lab lens interfere at all with the lidar sensor and in any way handicap focusing or "cinematic mode"? Could you (would you) please create one of your superb videos showing the iPhone 13 Pro Max/Moondog Labs combo using "cinematic mode?" Thank you very much for the value you add with your videos!
Haven’t tested that but according to Moment they did and it doesn’t work with Cinematic mode - using external lenses. I have used an ND filter though with Cinematic mode and it worked fine. But I will play with that. Thanks for watching!
It’s a bayonet mount lens (aka Moment mount) and the SmallRig cage is the same. They also make a 17mm mount cage, but I prefer the bayonet mount as I also have a set of Moment lenses. Thanks for watching!
@@iphoneographers so it’s the small rig backplate and just the lens? I’m asking because I have the small rig 17 mm backplate and the bayonet mount lens won’t fit on the small rig backplate.
Yes they can be, you just have to look out for a little bit of edge softness in certain shooting scenarios. Like high contrast I found it to be more noticeable. In other cases it’s nice and sharp. And that’s with their moment bayonet mount. Their 37mm amount is solid across the board. Their glass is probably my favorite of all the different brands though. The flares are very natural and organic feeling.
Interesting, I have all the same gear except I have the Moment anamorphic (blue and gold). Also the SmallRig cage is much better than other versions - I had one for the 11 Pro and the buttons didn't work but the new 13 Pro Max is perfect with cold shoe mounts and I've attached a second handle and two D nuts to use with a neck strap.
Nice film with a great vibe! You really made the most of grey day. Personally I've struggled producing good shots on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.... I've been experimenting with the Moondog and Pros Res and Pro Res LT vs "only" shooting 10bit Vlog 3 (HEVC) on Extreme with Filmic Pro. I must be doing something wrong, but with either codec the bit rate just seems to chew space without giving me much detail. Instead I just get tonnes of noise (overprocessing?) It's quite comical vs my older iPhone 7 which seemed fine for video. And the jelly wobble effect seems worse to my eyes and much more pronounced with these wider lenses. I may need to use a gimbal as slightest movement sets it off. Maybe 4K and anamorphic is just too much for these tiny sensors? Hoping you can shed some light on your settings in future videos :P Thanks!
The biggest thing I try to do is keep my eye on the ISO. If that gets over 100 I try to dial it back. The newer phones it can creep up to over 200 to 300 with bigger sensors, but anything beyond that you’ve got noisy footage. So really what I’m saying is you can get really nice results, but phones are less forgiving especially in any kind of lower light scenario. Even the latest greatest ones. And yeah, regarding wobble or rolling shutter, I do find it can be more pronounced using an anamorphic lens, especially if you move back-and-forth. I get the best results either being on a tripod or a gimbal. Otherwise it can look kind of funky. Have you checked out my most recent short film? I shot it on an anamorphic and it held up really well and the 13 Pro Max, too… th-cam.com/video/dctbdo6c9zE/w-d-xo.html. I’ve made several BTS videos about it if you’re interested. They’re on my channel. Thanks for watching! And keep experimenting. That’s what I do. :) Best of luck on your projects.
Great video, do you prefer using the moondog labs anamorphic to the moment one? Or does it just work better with the set up you were using while filming this?
I like them both, but I find that the Moondog flare seems more natural and organic, not as “synthetic” as the ones from Moment. It’s a subtle difference and somewhat subjective, but they’re both good.
Do you find the cage more practical than a gimbal? I’ve been looking at the same cage for my 13 Pro. I feel like I could get more natural movements if I went with the cage. Nice video!
It just depends, but I do like this cage. The main reason I got it was to attach lenses because other manufacturers have been so far behind this year. But it’s definitely a good multipurpose item and it’s not very expensive either. I still use a gimbal for certain stuff though. Thanks for watching!
I actually did not. Normally I would always but I didn’t have the proper filter mount for this new lens. I ordered it though and I’ll have it soon. Fortunately it was overcast and so the shutter stayed pretty low. Thanks for watching!
Arguably your best (non-tutorial) video to date. Really enjoyed the soundtrack too.
Appreciate it. Glad you liked it!
Definitely spent countless hours walking those Deep Ellum streets. This took me back to those days . You really captured the vibe .
Thanks! I spent a few hours there myself back in the day. :)
It came out nice.
Nice, brother! Happy New year to you.
very cool

The iPhone 13promax camera bump is coming out, Is there any Vignetting at the edges??
No vignetting here. But the larger camera bump definitely causes challenges with other gear and with the 3x telephoto in particular - not vignettes, but sharpness as it’s made it very tricky to use with third-party lenses, etc.

Correct! Just the telephoto.
