When I first started watching him I thought He seems like a rwally decent guy, hope he doesn't injure himself or worse, but before long you realize it's like a professional ice skater posing as a beginner, and doing the slip-slide-trip- 'perpetual- stumbling- nearly-falling several times' routine applied differently. 😎
@@johndenton5555 yep like the bumbling fool .like Chaplin .but both are damned good at what they do ..Chaplin was a great actor and derek is a great mechanic with loads of knowledge ..
When I don't paint; I clean up as much as possible on heavy rust, wash with water, wipe down with mineral spirits or gas and spray it all with satin clear coat. Prevents further corrosion and saves the history.
How do I know I really like some videos ? I watch them more than once , and find out I already left a comment.. some month or years ago😂😂 What a beautiful Rustbucket😍
Great work James! It's really great to see another old Chevy become mobile again! You're welcome for the parts. I had several extras that were just sitting around, just like Your Dad's exhaust stack. Now they will be put to good use. Enjoy...
You should name that truck "Trench Digger". Cause it looks like It is Grave Diggers uncle . Next time you use a flat head screwdriver bit on your impact driver try putting a piece of clear vinyl tubing on it, it helps keep it on the screw head and you can still see the screw to align it with the bit tip. Now I see why you said you were going to use a glass pack for the muffler. Nice smoke stack! Tim from Wisconsin.
That old eagle manufacturing gas can was made about a mile from my house in wellsburg wv, I have a lot of friends and family that have worked for eagle's over the years . they still make a quality gas can and many other products ,but they have been bought by the just rite company but still use the eagle name.
About the radiator fan pushing air forward!! Go ahead and install it for now, it will really help with any driveway test runs and I suspect that the top speed of this beauty will not be enough to interfere with the cooling. In any case you can put some cardboard or plywood in front of the grill and and the fan will push the hot air through the radiator and then out the sides behind the plywood. You might be able to reverse those blades if they are riveted to the hub. I better go back to watching the second half of the video.
Put cardboard on the front :o I know that is a terrible idea because I was thinking the same :o) And then I moved to clamping it in the vice and changing the direction with some serious heat. (From the blue spanner)
What a incredible truck. I have never seen one like it. It is alive but still needs more love. It looks like she is on the way of making a full recovery. Thanks for the video!!!!!
I love that old truck, and the challenges you sometimes overcame during the engine installation. Great stuff! There is nothing like the sound of an old Chevy work truck lugging along.
Great rubber hose trick. I was smiling as you were approaching a radiator core with a drill..."hey, I might 2nd guess myself right there.." Dig the stove bolt. Great little torque maker.
after the last episode, I thought there's no way that truck is any more messed up than it is. but you have proven me wrong again sir! Your skills at attempting to fix this abomination are god-level.
Reminds me of putting my '48 Willys -Overland StorDor bodied van back together along with putting my '47 Willys-Overland 4-63 Jeep Station wagon back together. Both fun and rewarding when you can finally drive 'em on the street! Congratulations on your efforts and outcome!
Like the way you get things done. Like the sound of the old 235 engine running and working. Grew up on the farm with those trucks, glad you are keeping her alive. That dual wheels in front will work better than going to the gym or weight room, will build big muscles
I really enjoy all the crazy projects and especially your sense of humor. Always puts a smile on my face. 50 years of doing welding & mechanic work brings back so many great memories. Thank you so much for sharing your never ending talent!!!
we must be twins separated at birth, we do the same kind of restoration on trucks and cars, i never have to go to a store and buy a nut or bolt or any kind of fastener, truck frame used to store reusable pipes and scrap metal, sheds and truck boxes full of used motor and body parts, one room is my shop is full of rebuildable motors and shelves full of carbs, starters, generators alternators, water pumps, and boxes full of miscellaneous parts. did about the same thing to an old truck like yours and drove it for an hour on back roads to a car show and they took a picture of it and put it in the club magazine along with all the beautiful restored classics from that show, and it was one of the biggest shows I have ever been to, everyone loved it, i called it my 1952 GMC TOPKICK pickup.
I had a 1952 Chevy pickup in high school with a 235 6 in it.i put dual stacks on the rack body behind the cab. It sounded great. Your audio was a trip down memory lane. If i started it in the garage it would sonetimes blow wet black carbon circles on the ceiling above.
Best channel on the web. I think we may be twins, at least when it comes to working on things.....later. Looking forward to seeing progress on this one.
You are a one man army.
AND the marching band+ p(r)ep Talk😎
This truck belongs in the next Mad Max film.
Mad Bucks

Reel snarky and being self deprecating adds humor and wit to eps........no changes plz

By ANYONE"S judgement that was a total WIN!! It's not fair for one guy to have this much fun!!
The thing that blows my tiny mind; that you're doing this by yerself.
Great work James! It's really great to see another old Chevy become mobile again! You're welcome for the parts. I had several extras that were just sitting around, just like Your Dad's exhaust stack. Now they will be put to good use. Enjoy...
As a fellow Willys guy,I’m into the old iron fixes. Keep ‘em up!!
excellent
Willys = last name, car company
Willy's = belongs to Willy
So you're saying this old Chevy belonged to Willy?
Those bolts look like they came off a 60s Chevy pickup front bumper.
That's a beauty....and quite...a mover...😏
Custom bucket seat 👌
Of all.your creations this dually dually is my favorite. Nice work. I do appreciate you.
That old Engine sounds Good. Nice find..Great job on that old Truck. Love those old things. Great Video...

Yep I kinda like the push fan as well, keeps the dust and crap outta the rad.

Dads stack on the truck is what its all about man. That six sounded great and even better knowing the story.
What a incredible truck. I have never seen one like it. It is alive but still needs more love. It looks like she is on the way of making a full recovery. Thanks for the video!!!!!

Excellent progress , great to see it driving again.
Great job!
Thanks!
That is one cool truck.. I learn a lot from watching you work on your projects. Boe
Those look like bumper bolts to me.
I did not know the rubber hose trick.. I wrecked a radiator when I was 14 because the drill went through.
Awesome 🙂
I am gonna say that those carriage-style bolts you found are bumper bolts. Good show, man! Love that old truck! Keep up the awesome vids.
That's got to be one of the best rat rods I've ever seen
Another great video.
In Maine it is time to push cj2 inside the barn ,after moving everything out of the way .Keep having fun .
Best channel on the web. I think we may be twins, at least when it comes to working on things.....later. Looking forward to seeing progress on this one.

Never throw salvageable stuff away. The radiator hookup was like good music. Got me humming.
