I just did this before I found your video, but I was trying to lock out a specific room in the Castle, and OH BOY was it a whole thing. The outer walls were too thick for a conduit wall pass through, but the powered door left juuust enough of a gap to sneak a conduit through. So 2 switches, an XOR gate, some conduits, logical thinking, and a BUNCH of wiring later, I managed to do it. I honestly felt so proud of myself for figuring it all out (including having to put the wall pass though conduit on the other side of the door itself, as the castle brick walls were too thick!!)
I use to do my doors like this, until I started using delayed off switches. This way you don't need the logic gate and the doors can be programed to close automatically up to ten seconds after you open it. Just replace your switches with delayed off switches and wire power to the delayed off switches then to the door. Then use a terminal to set how long you want the delay before the door losses power and close.
After watching a few other vids on logic gates, running around like a man possessed trying to find enough copper to make a gazillion junctions, switches and cables etc, only to find I'd done something wrong somewhere in a bird's nest of cabling. It's a relief to find someone who explained it clearly within 5 minutes. :) Cheers
4 years late to the party, but thank you. I was getting frustrated with the powered doors as I couldn't figure out how to get functioning switched on both sides of the door. Thank you for the help.
I recommend using the wide garage door and a pressure plate on each side. The pressure plate is always off, until you step on it. Pass over it, and it will open the garage doors. They will then close by themselves. The nice thing about the garage doors is that there’s time to get through by walking into them while they raise, and slipping under just before they close. Using pressure plates eliminates the need to mess with turning on and off the switch each time.
@@TheWorkmonkey1 They can, but only if their AI leads them through it accidentally. Also, with the garage door, if you quickly cross it, the door goes up fast and immediately closes, barely giving opportunity to enter.
Thanks abunch, after many years of FO, i 'am finally building smart. And not just throwing down some shacks and a bed with a container lol. No more of that. Love the settlement builds from what i seen from your content. I use the enclosed turrets with a concrete metal wall so my turrets dont get destroyed by explosives or whatever. Love that idea!
This is perfect! worked perfectly on my ps4 following exact step by step. simply perfect! Thank you for making this video. I always wanted to keep people out of my settlement and this may help me do that a little more easily. It would at least cut down on "wanderers"
This is the same method I've been using. Super handy. I also recently saw a video on the NAND/AND gate with a siren lockdown. That was pretty cool too. Nice one.
I did this in my game but it didn't work, instead when I turned off both switches the door + logic gate stayed powered. I even got rid of every generator in the settlement, but it stayed powered. Now I have infinite "phantom" power from that door with 0 generators, so I guess it's not all bad.
u can also just use the x2 switches no logic needed with the same result. [door]---wire---[switchbox]---wire---[wire to [wall] glitch]---wire---[switchbox]---wire---[power]
Btw i dint use the glitch just use those small white conducts from Vault 88 DLC in the middle of the door, ok i needed to put like 9 of them but it works just fine Ty alot Darkdally
Dally i enjoy your work. I play on the xbox one. Which means we are console users so i have been going to your channel for trouble shooting my power matters. But what has caused me to comment now is. And i noticed most of your videos are ghost recon lately. But i was hoping you do a video at gearing up a auto sorter and production plant that can do almost anything at anytime. I do hope you see my message and are willing to help me with what feels like a impossible task.
Is this available in the vanilla game? I'm not heavily far into the story but I've had 3 power suits take a walk without me despite not leaving fusion cores in them... Bit miffed
Hi, Settlers can activate sirens, if a siren is set up right, is it then possible for them to activate defences such as doors and turrets....maybe even some sort of flashing light?
Hi there, i want to utilise logic gates in fallout 4 for my settlement, what i would like to do is understand how they work with one another and how i can apply them in game to make things work the way id like them to. Ive been searching and reading up on logic gates for days now but i still cant get a grasp on it. I feel as though this dlc was a worthless buy because i cant use it.. I would like to set up my settlement with a main power source like a fusion generator and have that conected to a couple powered doors. But here is the catch. Im trying to get each door to have a double switch which can be turned on and off from inside and outside. Basically if the door is open and i hit the switch on the inside to lock it it will but if i come back to that settlement later on and use the outside switch id like to get back in the same way. But sometimes both switches are on or both are off or just 1 is on. I have 4 doors i want to put a double switch to. But then id like to have a siren hooked up where when it is switched on then the settlement goes into lockdown mode and all the doors shut whilst turning on a few turrets. Help me to understand! Lol the descriptions in game arent enough
As far as I can tell, the door switch system in this video does exactly what you want in the first part of your question: A switch on each side which opens or closes the door each time you hit it. You can close the door with the inside switch, fast travel away, come back to the door still closed and hit the outside switch to open it. And then go back inside and hit that switch again to close it, etc. As far as the second part of your question, about a system where the siren (or a switch) puts it into lockdown, which closes the doors but activates turrets... The next Fallout 4 video I"m uploading shows step by step how to build a security system that can do that. If the siren goes off, or if the lockdown switch is hit, it closes all doors. When this happens, a secondary circuit comes on which you could wire your turrets to, and which still allows the doors to be opened one at a time if you have to get through them. The turrets part isn't explained in the video, but you would just wire them to the second part of the circuit which comes on when the doors go off. The video will be up in a few days and hopefully it'll make sense.
I made a video showing exactly that. It was that viewer special I did where I showed a tour of the junk defense settlement, the concrete pillar thing you asked for, and I showed how to build an simple alarm system. The next Fallout video I"m uploading will be the complex alarm system I have at the castle.
Greetings everyone! The guy said that because he has "USO" What is USO? I only have the Vainilla game, I do not have "Power Doors" nor Concrete floor nor walls! How do I lock my door without a "Power Door"? I can not find it in my Workstation? Please somebody help me?
This is somewhat helpful but not what I'm looking for I don't fucking understand how or why you have your door planted but it's not Letting me any mine it won't clip onto anything!? Why?! There's nothing surrounding the area I'm so frustrated
t kinda works, OP didn't realized that it works only in one direction, then actions should be reversed. Doesn't support going twice in same direction. The proper wiring would use at least two gates, not one
What frustrates me the most about Fallout 4 is the construction. It's horrible, and you have to use glitches to build decently. As an electrician, it's frustrating to see that what you do doesn't work because the cable can't pass through the wall xD
There is a wall pass through conduit you can use. The part meant to stick outside a wall has a conductor. There are 2 sizes, one for barn sizes walls and one for regular walls. It should be under the Power > Conduit section in the workshop. That being said, I think it’s part of one of the dlc’s, but I could be wrong.
@@HowlingHomer I already tried it at the time, and it only works if the wall is made of wood or steel. With concrete, it lets you place it, but it doesn't connect the pipe to the other side.
never understood why the devs didnt add a switch for power doors so we didnt have to mess about like this. great video thou darkdally.
Cuz Bethesda
Years later and your guides are still usefull on fallout 4. Your bases you do I could spend years and never get them as nice as yours lol.
7 years have passed since this upload and it still works. Thank you very much!

Thank the lord you made this video....I SPENT OVER AN HOUR TRYING TO DO MY OWN THING 😭
I still come back to this video every time I start a new play through

I knew it had to be the logic gate. Great work! 👍 The real problem for me is making the wiring look neat.
Best and easiest way I've seen this done 👏🏻

walls work and doors
so how do traders get in if you lock down your camp? I just watched Carla walk up to the wall and stand there even with the door open.

Thank you so much I finally got it to work after watching you
Hey Darkdally i just wanted to ask if these doors are enemy proof or are they breakable? btw love your tutorial
Enemies can't operate switches. Only you can get through them. I'm glad the video was helpful!
Thank you my friend, made my day
thank a bunch. i hand t place the LG on the side with the conduit because the
lg wouldnt produce output for some reason
Why would you not explain the wire through wall part? Thats kind of the thing that matters most...this video was useless to me
it’s a clutch he said it and it’s in the description

Well explained 👍
@darkdally but WHERE do I get these building materials, I’m talking about the stone walls. I don’t have that. 😭
Why do you make it look so easy lol - what I need is for the doors to auto open and close
My switch from outside turned off. Can't get out.

Only one switch can open and close the door the other just does nothing whether it’s on or off

I only used it cause my companions stationed at the castle keep steeling my power amor and getting it back Broken
🤣 what a bunch of a-holes
How do you get those walls by the door? is it a mod (The rock walls)

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. The xor doesn’t work like this video portray… I followed it step for step & nothing
thanks for this explanation.
I have a ? are you able to use the conduits that came with one of the dlc for a clean wire install
Thanks so much, it was a big help.
What mod did you download to get powered doors?
They are part of one of the official DLCs, I think vaultech workshop
what do the doors snap to?
How do you get the logic gates?
Why can i not find the logic gate?
Is this a mod on the PC?
What is that top conducter called?
WHy not just use a conduit instead of a glitch?
Man fiz igual o seu video e os cabo nao ultrapassa as paredes pra ir pra painel... Nao sei oque vc fez mais nao é possível

why does this video need to be 7 minutes long....
