The Labrador Retriever, often abbreviated to Labrador, is a breed of retriever dog that was developed from imported Canadian fishing dogs. Labs descend from the Newfoundland Dog and the St. John’s Water Dog in Newfoundland, Canada. The Labrador Retriever was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1917 and thereafter rose slowly but steadily in popularity due to its incredible versatility, obedience, and rugged good looks. It is now considered the world’s most popular breed.

You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I wanted to ask you if you ever had to supplement your newborn puppies with puppy formula. And if yes, what you used. We just welcomed our first litter of puppies from our yellow lab retriever Bella today. She had 14 puppies in total of all 3 colors. Unfortunately, the last 2 were not born alive. I tried to resuscitate them for 20 min each, but there was no response. Mama is doing a great job cleaning the puppies and nursing from time to time, but they are losing a little weight, and I am not sure if I should supplement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your litter! Don’t worry about the 2 that didn’t make it. It happens. The 12 that did make it need to eat! You can use canned goats milk from the store until you get puppy formula in. Don’t use cows milk. Puppies don’t digest it well. Here’s a link to what we keep on hand. Your vet probably sells something like it too. amzn.to/3HyBF02. You will also need some small feeding bottles and syringe like these:
