KenDBerryMD can you use stevia on keto? And isn’t the Atkins diet the original keto diet? I’ve also heard you can’t lose weight unless you sleep 8 hours, due to lack of a hormone mad3 after the 7th hour of sleep?
@@kamalagopinath64 you can have chia seeds and flax meal. I put these in a smoothie with almond milk or make chia pudding. Also, non dairy yogurts arent keto but I need it in my life. I've found that I can have limited goat plain yogurt because it's mostly protein. U could add that to ur smoothie with few drops of stevia and some cinnamon.
When my doctor told me to eat fruits, brown rice, grains… I said “ah ok…whatever you say doc…” I started doing keto and am exploring carnivore… I never felt better.
My nutritionist told me to eat oats...I gained 80lbs with 5 shots of insulin a day. I gave it up and went down to just a shot or two a month. I went 2 weeks with no insulin within a month. My triglycerides went from 2500 to 150 and my doctor told me to keep it up. You can do it. Blessings in Christ
@@annuitcptis3032 LOTS of people in the medical field tell people to eat oats. They tell this to diabetics who watch their sugar levels go through the roof after eating them and when they tell their medical professional, they usually tell them to keep eating them, because they are "healthy". It's been ingrained in them for so long to tell people this, they just can't stop.
I have been on keto for almost 4mths now. I have lost 48 pounds!! I'm 46 years old and feel like a superwoman!! I was able to quit smoking and my anxiety and depression has gotten so much better! Thanks Dr. Ken Berry!! ❤ 💪
Melissa Newcomb, you are a super women. I've been on keto for 3 weeks and I lost 10 lbs. I wish it would be more. I have anxiety and depression. I used to sleep all day and now I don't. That's helping with depression. Im a little more active.
I wanna hug ya Doctor (not in a prison way, lets get that straight).....lol My physical showed that everything dipped.....meaning blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, PSA (prostate) it all showed great. I followed your advice & It worked. I'm now training for a marathon in the spring (at age 62). - I'm 20 years, US Navy, Retired. And I feel 32 years old again. - You rock, Doc'!
Dr. Berry I reversed my infertility by adopting a keto diet. I've had 4 keto pregnancies and I help women do this too. That's why I started my channel and website. Thank you.
Dr Berry, how do you treat keto and medication s for osteoarthritis? 6 weeks of keto here and not losing weight or inches. Please discuss what we can do.
You are a great teacher! I’m 63 and am in day four. I’ve cried and cried because I love BREAD! But I love myself and my family more! I’m slowly feeling less stiff when moving. Thank you for all of the your knowledge that you are sharing!
hio Marie ,the craving passes , honestly I found once my bloating went down I looked at grains in a negative way , I started intermittent fasting , just going from not eating after six until liunchtime , for a few days then until 5or six , its a gentle transition .
just started Keto...my brother and his friend lost 200 pounds between the both of them. they told me to watch all these videos and they are coaching me. starting weight...265 and now I'm 254 still going strong
71yrs old been told my entire life… time for breakfast, oh it’s lunch time, come eat dinner, let’s have desert. Gave it up 4 weeks ago. I started Keto and have lost 16 lbs, off the Pantoprazole that I have been on for 20+ years. Thanks Doc keep up the good work. I am a faithful follower. Oh, my wife has seen the difference and is joining me on this lifestyle change!!
How are you doing now Dan ? It's good you quit the proton pump inhibitors. They can weaken your bones. Can you tell me what you are eating. I am a beginner.
1) Get rid of everything that has any kind of SUGAR in your house. No sugar in keto. 2) Get rid of all GRAINS especially wheat 🌾 corn 🌽 rice 🍚 and oats 3) Get rid of VEGETABLE OIL canola, crisco, corn and soybean oil.
iDRONE uDRONE I appreciate it. Yes, I listen to the video, but this gives me a quick list to show my daughter, because she WON’T watch the video. I’m a size zero, she’s a good 50 pounds overweight.
I love that credit card not required. I love that you're not selling a bunch of stuff. I'm not against people selling things per se, but it's nice to have someone talking to us who is not also selling stuff.
Dearest Dr. Barry: Diabetes, I have lost 6 family members to this awful disease. Friends told me about keto and I tried it and will continue. Watched and studied your videos and did my homework. I did my latest hemoglobinAIC and it is way down, so did my weight. Thank you Dr. Barry from the most bottom of my heart. Thank you for literally saving my life and sanity. I got the answers I needed re: my family members death. Once again thank you Dr. Barry. I shall tell as many people about you, videos, and your knowledge. Signed, your most biggest (figuratively speaking) fan and diabetes free.
My grandfather had type one back when I was a kid , he was a minority you didn’t see this much back then , I never imagined I’d see people just like him now in 2023 . I remember he needed insulin 3 x a day & ate a very high carb diet he loved to cook . He was around 350-400 lbs . He loved pasta , Italian bread etc. keto was unheard of back then at least to our family . He ended up passing away after he got his toenails cut & got an infection. I wish you were his doctor I bet he would have thrived & gotten a lot better ❤
Thank you for all the great info! December 2021 i was diagnosed Type2 diabetic with fatty liver . I had been lactose intolerant for about 4-5 year prior to this and thought it unrelated. I also weighed 345 pounds. My fasting blood sugar was typically about 160-ish and my A1C was 9.6. After doing research I decided Ketogenic diet seemed like a good choice for me. Your videos really helped me get on the right track and to help win my wife over to the idea. Started keto late december 2021. As of March 21 2022 I now weigh 285 lbs, my lactose intolerance is completely gone, my blood sugar is nearly always under 100 in the mornings, I have reduced my belly measurement by more than 10”. I never thought I could do this. 6 months ago I would have told you it was impossible for me. I’m not gonna stop, I’m going to eat keto forever. Im hoping to drop about another 100 lbs and get back to bootcamp weight. Thank you so much for the videos you make they have helped me more than I can say
I'm down 28 pounds on keto! I swear by it guys, it really does work. I've been only on it for 4 months and never felt better. I feel so satisfied on it.
Brandi Winelou maybe , but id rather be a creep rather then a creepy , ugly , good for nothing thing like you ! at least i have strength , are intelligent and have talent that is useful in building and maintaining society unlike you useless over opinionated female !
making a public vague comment and then expanding on it, with nonsense when you don't even know that person = creepy. You have no idea what we do for society...you are comical.
Beauty And The Vape pff , who cares what a stupid fat girl says ? you are good for nothing , have no talents that help society grow and are just plain stupid ! so , yeah who cares ?
MLM is not a "scheme". It's just a distribution model for products and services. It's ridiculous that it's socially acceptable to refer to this business model in a way that demeans it or the tens of millions of people who engage in this business model.
I had tried every diet under the shining sun. finally, so tired of struggling and feeling awful , I was on an insulin pump using humulin u-500 which is a 5 times stronger insulin for people who use over 300 units a day of insulin... and costs $4000 a vial, not $400, $4000. I started keto and lost 77 pounds in 6 months. I still have 40 pounds to lose but feel much better and last A1c was 5.9. on insulin is was 12.9. I feel keto saved my life. literally.
Lost my Sister in law at 36...I'm positive it was more likely that she'd have still been with us if she could have been educated and gone Keto. But my MIL was THE most overbearing, interfering, knuckle walking, knowitall...🙄 Angela simply had no chance from the day she was conceived.
I am 79 yrs young! Have tried every diet! Non work worth a hoot! No long term loss! This is my last resort❗️ Will add post in future as the weight comes off! Have over 100lbs to loose! ‘ “God willing and the creek don’t rise”, This time I will succeed‼️Marge
That's exactly what I did in the beginning cleaned out the cabinets! Um my children didn't like but they were old enough to buy their own! 2.5yrs later and I'm down 53lbs! Oh and I have no desire for that stuff anymore.
Melissa Lewis do you exercise? I gained 30 pounds on keto in 1 year. No exercise though. I wonder how you lost weight because keto is 75%fat, 20% proteins, and 5% carbs. A lot of fat has a lot of calories, and one can put a lot of weight fast.
I lost weight on keto because I only eat high quality, keto approved fats, like avocado, real pasture fed and finished butter and fatty meats. Watch dr berg
Impossible. I eat avocados, kerrygold butter, pork belly, uncured bacon, free range eggs. Still get fat. Without a ton of exercising is not working. How would you lose weight eating a lot of fat? It does not matter if is organic or not. You're either lying (for attention) or you're a gym rat. I was expecting an answer from Melissa Lewis if she exercise or not though. Dr. Berg is a joke salesman. Stephanie Person is the real deal. But she's exercises 3 hrs/day. I'm a very busy person. Can't do that.
Vasile Stana I do exercise now i didn't in the beginning until I lost 20lbs because of my feet and knees hurt bad.I do dumbbell hiit and walk as much as possible.
My husband bought veggie oil once....I marked it with a black marker...not for human consumption....and used it for the chickens legs when they get mites
Been doing keto for 11 weeks. 227 to 193 in less than 3 months. All elevated numbers have dropped to normal range. This stuff works folks. If I can do it you can do it.
I have to live with my 350 lb. sister. She just went food shopping and bought most everything with sugar, including 20 boxes of Cherry Cordials, processed foods and poisonous garbage. It's her house and she keeps pushing me to eat her poison. She gets angry at me or teases me when I reject her foods. I pay tons of rent and gave her another $200 for food because she complained so much. She also complains of all the pain she is in, but won't listen to me. She says she is very healthy and doesn't need to diet. She is on 23 medications, including for Hashimoto's. My point is...I can't throw out food. It's in my face. I'm ok with it, but it is such a battle with her. I eat once a day. I'm going into Carnivore, because any carbs are like poison to me, and I feel better and lose weight on more protein. I've lost 12 lbs. and started working out. We are elderly- 60's. I'm just saying this to comfort anyone else with a blind sabotaging family. I'm standing my ground! Maybe she'll get a clue someday. You can't help people who don't want to help themselves. I can only take care of me. Thanks for letting me tell you all this.
Nalvar, I`m in the same situation you are in. I have been on Keto for two years and lost over 50 lbs., but my poor wife just loves sugar. She buys and eats all the stuff Dr. Berry says not to eat. It`s in my face everyday, I try so hard not look. We both buy and eat differently. I have Keto dinner, she eats box pasta 4 days a week and fast food the other days. She eats a chocolate candy bar everyday, bakes twice a week cake and brownies. it`s tough when your family will not listen and try to give you these bad foods everyday, even though I say, "NO". Sabotaging Family is exactly the phrase I was looking for. My wife means well, but she isn`t helping me or herself. Even though she sees what benefits it does for me, she still won`t do it. She believes she can`t live without sweets and sugars. She has had health issues and won`t listen to me or other Keto folks. It`s probably going to take something bad to happen before she realizes. I support you and understand. Keep it up and God Bless.
I think that we need to be patient and show results to our loved ones so they can be convinced this is good. Both of my elder sisters have type 2 diabetes, are overweight, and have to take insulin shots. They do respect my diet, and I've invited them to do this with me, but they are reluctant. And I understand, it seems crazy and hard. But I know them: as soon as I get rid of my prediabetes diagnosis (getting there: 124 blood sugar to 91 last Saturday with just 15 days of Keto. The lowest I've had it ever!) and drop the pounds I need to drop, they will follow me. Persevere and be the living proof that it can be done :)
First off you are not elderly, you just started living life, enjoy it. Do not force her to change her diet, you can slowly educate her, or you keep doing what is right and once she notices the changes in your health, energy level and body then she might be inclined to change her life. Please share this videos with her. God luck to you and happy living
Thank you so much for sharing without pushing high priced, overrated products. It gives me hope to know there are still good people with integrity out there.
I just went to the kitchen and threw out the grits, oatmeal, rice, flour, and sugar. Rice and corn tortillas will be missed. But I'll get by without them. I'm in it to win it.
There is a low carb tortilla at walmart, I think it's called carb balance on the bag or ypu can make low-no carb one on pinterest. You will not miss the sugars and rice, corn and wheat in a few weeks to a month. You will start seeing that it was those items that got you where you are and you Will be happier with the results! That I promise you. Go to Lazy keto with jess join group and read everyone's progress. You will be impressed.
What I've realized When you change your diet successfully, and you start losing weight and reducing inflammation Your loved ones will tell you what you're doing is wrong, and that you should stop, I am optimal weight Yet I am skinny shamed, your loved ones or friends that are unhealthy overweight pre diabetic diabetic they will shoot you down for trying to improve your health. They can only change if they want to. Because there's no point beating a dead horse with them. Thank you dr. Berry I enjoy all your videos they are great tools for a success.
LOL! We began the KETO lifestyle after Christmas. I poured the canola oil in the road. I poured the oats in the woods for the birds. My joint pain is gone, I have more energy, I feel that I am thinking more clearly, and have lost 17 pounds. Hubby was borderline diabetic and docs had put him on metformin and gave him a tester. He's off metformin, blood is normal. He is now going to take himself off statins. He has been asking how he can get off these meds for years, and the "regular" diets have not worked. His cardiologist does not approve of KETO, but we're going to forge on and prove to her it's good stuff! Thank you, Dr. Berry.
If you're new to keto and reading this: You've come to the right place. This video is sponsored by... NOBODY. Dr. Berry is the real deal. Don't fall for any scams or "keto products". Whole foods are the only "keto products" you need.
It is interesting. Other Keto channels like Eric Berg are good info, but they are always selling something. I looked at Dr. Berg's reviews for his actual doctor's office where he sees patients and they are bad reviews. This guy has very good reviews, so if he is good in real life, that is a step up.
George Orwell: when you say, this guy has very good reviews, do you mean dr. Berry? Can't stand that their name almost look alike if not paying attention......ugh!!.......lol
George Orwell while berg does sell products, he doesn't push them that hard. Berry and berg have nearly the exact same info on the same topics. Both as good sources but I like Berry's delivery a bit more.
Me and my husband aren’t Keto yet but we are on our way. Our first step was just stop drinking pop. We just stopped buying it for the house. We only bought it for ourselves independently when we were at work or whatever. Proud to say I’ve been pop free for almost 2 weeks. We plan on going full Keto diet later this mo after our honeymoon.
I have been on the Keto diet for over 1.5 years. It is absolutely the most natural way to eat food. I don't like to call it a diet because it is a whole lie change. I have never felt better ever and at 67 years old I need to feel good about what I ate. I always like to talk to people about this change because I can see them wasting away believing the FDA and other government types on what they should eat.
Knowledge would do you well. Dr Berg has helped many with his products including myself. Do not talk about someone you don't know anything about, just like most of the judgemental buttholes in this world.
I'm starting Keto today, thanks to your videos. I have watched a lot of the "Guru's ", but they over complicate the process. You make it simple. Thank you for that. I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. On to many medications, I hate it. Ive tried the big Pharma route. Csnt wait to see the look on the pill pushing doctors face when I tell her I'm trying something differant. Either she will help on the journey or I'll find one who will.
Dear Dr. Berry, I am a historian and can tell you that wheat actually came to Europe very recently, in the 18th century. It came from the Middle East and North Africa and there it was eaten as semolina, a hard wheat and often fermented. Thank you for what you do!!
This very video inspired me to take the plunge... I started the Ketogenic diet, combined with intermittent fasting on Jan 31, then switched over to at least 95% carnivore diet about 1 and a 1/2 to 2 weeks in. When I started, I was around 315 lbs. I weighed myself this morning, and the lovely, beautiful scale reported 285 lbs! I've been dropping weight qucikly for the last 2 or 3 weeks! I'm not hungry, my knees don't bother me anymore, and I no longer have wicked 'pins and needles' pains in my feet when I first wake up in the morning! And that's just the tip of the iceberg of benefits I'm experiencing. More energy, better concentration over time, etc. My acne hasn't cleared up yet, but another of Dr. Berry's videos talks about how we replace our skin every 3 months, so I'm being patient on that front. (Also, rosacea hasn't been ruled out.)
@@angelagrant2943 It has been a remarkable journey! I've discovered that my natural weight is between 238lbs and 244lbs. I don't seem to fall any lower than that. I stuck with it for over a year with no ill effects, save for an annoying daily hunger that lasts maybe an hour around 3pm. I fell away from the diet after drinking some alcohol, which in turn triggered my carb cravings. But I pulled out from that. I'm currently off the carnivore diet after a relationship break up. But I'm again fighting to get back on it. It's important to note that I didn't stop the diet because I broke down from cravings (except for what the alcohol triggered.) Besides that, there WERE NO CARB CRAVINGS!!! Just mistakes on my part.
Had my first blood lab report since starting Keto 3 weeks ago - unfortunately last labs were 3 months ago but these results are really just from 3 weeks on Keto - Triglycerides went from 284 to 75... LDL “bad” cholesterol went from 112 to 89... I literally cried in my Dr’s office - my parents are both dead from heart disease and I am not going to be. I can not overstate the profound affect this news is having on me. Tearing up again as I type. My wife’s research and meal prep is key to my success but she is not as good at explaining things to me as you are which is fine ... but Bless you sir for being a supportive voice on this transformational Journey.
Thank you so much. My doctor told me over the phone I had a fatty liver. That's it. No explanation or comment about what I should do. Thank God I am good at doing my own research Your video so emphasized what I needed to know and the dangers of a fatty liver. I've noted everything and will be on a ketogenic diet program starting tomorrow. Again, thank you. Your very excellent video certainly had a great impact on me and what I need to do now.
I've been off and on of Keto for over 20 years. You are the first person who has made it make perfect sense. Today is day 1, and I feel like this time I can make it.
Doctor Berry, hi! I (we, my family consists of me 52 (264 lbs), my brother 53 (288 lbs), and my mother 72 (228 lbs)) am about to enter week 3 of the keto eating lifestyle. Just wanted to note on this topic of the 3 things you need to do. Looking back, I would suggest researching and learning all you can about it for a week or two leisurely (we did not' we just jumped right in, so the first few days were hectic and probably not spot on keto). I am still learning and growing with keto. As you can tell by our weights, we love to eat...all the bad stuff! LOL It took me 2 to 3 days to clean out the fridge and pantry; we gave away about 30 bags of groceries. The second time through another 3 bags. Today, there is nothing in our fridge or pantry that is not keto friendly, except my bottle of a special honey I received as a gift. I am hoping down the road I might be able to use a teaspoon here or there in one of the many keto recipes out there :) I had to use a magnifying glass to read some ingredients. I was shocked looking at all the numbers. So, step 1 take your time and learn as you go. Do not be hard on yourself. Try to think of it as a new way of eating...forever. Step 2 Grains: So sad! Rice, bagels, corn?!? Another 5 bags of groceries gone!! Oats? Wow!! Hello chia seed cereal :) Step 3 Vegetable oils. No biggie for us really, we use olive oil. We also use real butter and have for years now. May 18, 2019 is week 3...we weighed ourselves Saturday, Day 1 and those are the weights listed above...after 2 weeks on Saturday, May 11, 2019 and the results were surprisingly good: me 251 lbs, a 13 lb weight loss in just 2 weeks!?! mom 221, and brother 279. Not bad considering we really just jumped in. The reason I chose this particular diet style for the three of us, is because we are morbidly obese, sedentary, and really don't exercise. I researched the diets out there, and this seemed to be the best fit for us because it says exercise is not required. I imagine once I lose some more weight, I will feel better, and will honestly try to add some walking in. I'm not sure about my brother or mother. Also, wanted to touch on INFLAMMATION/INFLAMMATORY things. My mom recently had to stop her anti inflammatory medications she had been on for years due to stomach ulcers and such, so she was moaning when she moved a lot more. After doing some research on vegetables, I learned there are some out there that help reduce inflammation, so I had been using those, as well as others, and I don't hear her anymore, and she is not gimping around like she used to. Mushrooms for one, which she loves, so yay!! Overall, these last two to three weeks have not been bad! I think it is working because no one admits to being hungry. I know I am not. I also learned my triggers for eating impulsively...tired, bored, and aggravated. The struggle is still real and remains, not only did we change what we eat, but also reduced portions. My brother is struggling the most, but powering through. Old habits, desires die hard, but hopefully they will die. We are not having any "cheats." I also feel more energy. Before whenever I ate (over ate) I would want to or need to lie down and sleep. Now when I eat, I am energized and can't sleep. So weird. You are so spot on in this video, because this is exactly what I did in my house. Like I said before, it did take a few days, but we got there. And we learned a lot along the way. Thanks for sharing and making this video. I know it will help a lot of people!
@Stephanie Thank you. Thanks for keeping it real and explaining the emotional side of food. People can lose weight. Food is not just for nutrition. It is a friend, and comforter and soother. People can’t just “get rid” of that. Even if it is making them sick. You have to break people’s emotional psychological bond to all the comfort foods that have “been” there for them since childhood. You have to learn to de-stress with a big bowl of crunchy vegetable and fiber filling salad instead of macaroni or potato salad that spikes your blood sugar and makes you fat and sick. Have to learn ways not to back slide and go for the cookies and cake. Gotta get a carrot tooth and not a sweet tooth. It’s a mental battle. You have to keep at it until one day you are psychologically strong against old eating habits and triggers.
Wow, keep it up! I too am just starting! I've lost 20 lbs just cutting out my sugar to a minimum. I was eating BAGS of candy DAILY! What was I thinking?!?!
Thanks Stephanie....I really appreciated your post. I hardly ever feel hunger cravings....But age and the modern lazy lifestyle has crept up on me.....I grew up on a farm and good food and hard work are my normal life, until the last 10 years and did my health and body go down hill!! I developed bad habits like you talked about. And I am definitely getting back to my old ways.....healthy living!! I'm determined o study and learn this Keto-diet and start applying it.....I do like that you looked at as a lifestyle and not a fad and started bit by bit growing into it....that is probably the best way to change yourself anyway.
This is the second video I have watched from Dr. Barry. The first was the "keto for cheap" video. I have to say, I love you already, Dr. Barry. You relay this information in a way that those of us in the 'real world' can use, and you do it without judgment. You seem to genuinely want to help people. It's refreshing and inspiring.
Watched this a few months after I decided to remove sugar then grains from my diet and continued eating protein, vegetables and whole foods and my life changed for the better! Your video strengthens my resolve to continue with the best nutritional changes I have ever made, and I feel the healthiest I ever have. .Thank you :)
Thank you Dr Berry... I've been living a ketogenic lifestyle for 6 years, ever since I used it as a front line therapy for my son's epilepsy. No turning back... no more AED's and no more seizures 🙏 for the past 6 years. I love to refer people to your channel for a straightforward protocol and approach when people ask me how my 100 year old father looks and does so well and how we're all so healthy. It's simple once you purge your kitchen and pantry of the inflammatory ingredients that we all have historically loved here in America with our SAD addictions.
I first watched this in March of 2019 and it was so helpful, Dr. Berry. I did Keto for March and April and never felt better in my life. Lost 10 lbs. However, I'm a fruitaholic and missed it so much. From deprivation for two months to over-indulgence, I've done my backsliding into the hell of carb tidal waves. I hated being limited on Keto as to foods I could eat. However, I've had a very serious sit-down with myself and realized that I'd much rather feel the fabulousness resulting from Keto, than the foggy, groggy lbs added from carb overload. You are doing an amazing service by providing these videos and I so appreciate it and will support you in as many ways as possible. August 1st begins the forever Keto lifestyle. That means I have four days to prepare my psyche.
When you have bread cravings fix Porkchops and don't do anything fancy with them. You can liken them to planks of dense bread, eat them by hand on the side with other meat or cheeses. Pork is cheap, too. I noticed this because a porkchop sandwich with nothing on it is rather not much different tastewise than the bread it has on it. And if you want sweetness (eg, fruit), make a glaze out of aspartame unless you have a fancy sweetener like swerve. Don't cook it onto a burger or other meat, but brush it on something like ham, that should satisfy those pineapple memories.
Thanks for your info. I just saw your videos and I'm pledging to watch them all. I'm on the keto diet but I occasionally eat a slice of wheat bread with breakfast. I love bread and brown rice so I'm weaning myself. For the rest of the day, I eat enough veggies and meat. I consider my one slice of bread or my 3 spoons of rice and peas (I'm Caribbean) my carb intake for the day. I do what works for me. This is my second week and I'm 207 down from 215. Water weight I know but an improvement. This week, so far, I omitted the bread and rice. Brussel sprouts etc I'm getting used to because the rice would make me feel full. I'm getting there. I will omit more as the days go by while watching my health. Today, I am making jerked chicken and will eat it with celery, blue cheese and some raw shredded cabbage.
Dr. Berry is my hero! In April 2021 I had Covid and after 7 days ended up hospitalized in a diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). I was 60 yrs old and 260 lbs and had A1c of 13%. I had known the keto diet going back to 2017, but had gotten lazy and complacent during the pandemic. Now faced with Type 2 diabetes I had to get more dedicated than ever or just die. By August I had gotten down to 225 lbs primarily because of my diet and best of all my A1c was 5.7%. In Nov my A1c was 5.3%. my primary exercise is a daily 3 mile walk instead of eating lunch. So it's a combo of a keto diet, intermittent fasting, and walking. Thank you Dr Berry for all you do!
i have just found you on your channel Dr Berry. I watch and watch and watch!!! I am telling all of my friends about you! i am just beginning but it's working. I have vascuilitis, sleep apnea, prolapsed aortic valve, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, pulmonary hypertension, osteoarthritis, stage II kidney disease, severe esophagitis and all my numbers are normal! thanks for being here and giving so many of us hope!!!
What do you mean in a lazy way? Just 4 days ago I started IF and started to reduce carbs too, slowly... and im having a hard time. Watching these videos is one thing, getting through this day by day is another =/ you got any tips you're willing to share?
Thanks for all your content, you are amazing and have actually inspired me to start my own vlog documenting my keto weight loss journey….. Lost 20lbs in this first week of Keto and exercise, I wouldn't of started if it was wasn't for your videos.... Keep up the good work.
7 Month on keto. I am now off the heart meds I have been on for 3 years. Now taking MANESIUM, POTASIUM, ZINC AND D3 K2 . I feel great No need to ever feel hungry on KETO...... THANX DOC
Man, that's brutally honest and I loved it! I have so many people who don't understand what I do and how I do it and it's hard for me to explain to them everything I learned from you and some other people because I just can't share your video. My mother tongue is Spanish (I do understand perfectly English) and most of this people I talk to they don't speak even a little English. My husband and I are going Keto, I’ve watched the docu-series The Real Skinny on Fat , ordered some books and cook books, yada, yada, yada. I love the way you talk about this process. I follow another but I still appreciate the way you encourage and explain this on laymen’s terms.
I'll teach or help anyone who asks 100% free :) Not a single thing is needed except for a little knowledge and your choice of groceries. A lot of people need this and it should be easily available to everyone. Thank you Dr Berry! Love this video!
Only problem with people taking on Keto "coaches" are most of these guys have no medical or nutritional backgrounds and just encourages our societal tendency of no accountability. You have to take your health in your hands and learn how to improve it. Dr Berry is a great resource and source of encouragement. There is no magic pill and for the most part, no one can do this for you but yourself. Anything worth doing is worth doing right (and yes the quote isn't exact).
I just saw a "nutritional" nurse practitioner and the first thing she suggested is taking a DRUG to lose weight. I asked what the side effects were, she said it was similar to caffeine and enough to make your heart flutter. I asked her what she knew about green tea, which also has caffeine and she didn't know shit. Then she said I should drink diet soda (nothing about the ingredients). They don't know a goddamned thing about health.
I "had" obesity and fatty liver disease as well as some other medical disorders. HgA1C was borderline. I started Paleo/Keto initially and slowly switched to full Keto at about eight or nine weeks. In six months my Liver enzymes returned to normal. A1C returned to mid to low normal. Lipid profile was normal with the best triglycerides levels I've ever had. I lost some weight but with exercise I lost inches which to me is the best indicator. Full bore Keto can be tough and I do cheat now and then but with one meal only and usually about twice a month. I feel so much better on Keto. I now find that I sleep better and have fewer aches and pains. What I think is the most satisfying factor is my exercise tolerance is awesome. Better than when I was 15 years ago. You CAN do Keto. I was raised in Texas with BBQ, Sunday Fried Chicken dinners, Burgers (Whataburger) and Fries, country fried "anything" and pecan pie. If I can do Keto and Improve my entire life then almost anyone can do it.
I started Keto once my Type II Diabetes progressed to the stage that I had to start injecting insulin. It's been a little under three weeks so far and I'm still working on perfecting Keto for my lifestyle, but it's been an amazing transition. I lost 13 pounds in my first two weeks and am already seeing major changes to my body shape. My ankles and feet no longer swell up if I sit still too long, my restless leg syndrome has practically disappeared, my neuropathy has improved, I sleep better, get fewer migraines, and have lots more energy. I still have to take insulin for my diabetes (especially since I'm allergic to Metformin and none of the other pills really work for me), but I did manage to drop my blood glucose numbers from my previously usual 350ish down to the normal range in just two and a half weeks. My doctor has had me texting him my numbers every day as I slowly increased my slow-acting insulin every three days from 10 units up to 25. He has been extremely shocked at how quickly I managed to get my numbers under control when my numbers were so high previously. He said that he did not think it was possible, and even jokingly said he should hire me to consult other diabetics on how to do it, lol. I really can't wait to see his reaction when he learns how much weight I have dropped when I go in to see him for my one month follow up. Maybe then he will stop trying to push the idea of gastric bypass surgery. :/ I'm hoping that in time I'll be able to reduce that insulin amount and perhaps even send my diabetes completely into remission. One step at a time! :D
I have not watched any of Dr. Fung's stuff, but I've made real progress with the diet regardless. It's been a little under three months now and I've lost 27 lbs so far and am off all diabetic medications. My blood glucose numbers have been averaging between 85 and 115 at all times without the meds, so as long as I stick with what I'm doing, I should be good. Thanks for the advice though! :D
Doctor Berry I discovered your channel of information 8 months ago and it has changed my health for the better by a 100% for that I just want to say thank you .
Blackstrap unsulphered molasses has contains a significant amount of micronutrients including calcium, magnesium, iron and manganese. It is also a good source of potassium.
While I totally agree with Keto etc, the assumption that evolution is true is based on non-facts......we didn't evolve from monkeys and yes we need to get rid of sugar, but it's not because of evolution that this works!
Love that it says no credit card 🙌🏻👏🏼 I hate how I’ve been looking for info to start and everyone wants me to buy their plan. God bless you! I’ve already learned so much from you!
Dr. Berry, I’m new to all your videos but I’m truly enjoying learning. I have a lot of work to do in my life because from what I’m learning, my diet is truly the root cause to a lot of my medical issues. I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 25 about a year after my husband died and things progressed over the next 20+ years. I’m now an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic who’s got severe insulin resistance. I’m on a 1:1 ratio for my fast acting U-500 insulin and then take 160 units of my long acting every night. I have truly been watching more of what I eat and when I do “indulge” on something I shouldn’t, I see the highs I face for hours! I end up needing so much more insulin it’s just crazy and that basically is what has finally made me say ENOUGH! I’m only 46, a retired nurse and I know it’s up to me to make these changes. I still have a lot of learning to do, but I’m willing to learn and change. So thank you for these videos!!! Lynette
Thanks Dr Berry for your passion...I am a beginner with the ketogenic way..my biggest problem is arthritis and gout attacks about twice a year...takes about 3 weeks to recover..and the pain is debilitating..however I have cut as much sugar and carbs from my diet, and the improvement is noticeable. .less knee joint pain...I am hoping this will steadily improve. .thanks again Dr.Berry...
I have not eaten dairy, grains or sugar since 2006 I did an experiment last month and ate a snickers bar...the next day my finger joints were swollen and sore for two days.
I have not been keto for a few weeks and I have to say, it sucks. I feel like shit, joints ache, my bowels are all messed up. It's just that we have been eating summertime foods that are not keto and being the odd man out while starting keto is hard. Our last official pre-school "vacation" is next weekend which will be my last non-keto week. The initial return to keto might suck, but it is worth doing again, because I know the benefits outweigh it all.
Wolf Daddy Leyton Jay Cougar - wow! I first thought it was my imagination that my back ACHED when I ate sweets and flour. It’s incredible how much less pain I have when on strict keto. LOVE IT!
Went through the keto flu. I know why people quit. My heart was pounding, even my legs were sweating, and I was on the couch until 4:30 in the afternoon. I lived.
Christine King oh darl, we went through it in the same time 🤷♀️😳😖had bit to much naughty stuff last two months, so doing clean keto again from July, first time ever keto flu full on for 4 days! I was so sick wasn’t joke 🥵I will never have a desert, sugar in my life I believe 🤯😌✅We can do this🙏💐😁
I asked my Dr why he never told me about the oils being so inflammatory to help with the arthritis and carbs so bad on the kidneys he said that has never been proven! Then he saw my a1c went down 2.2 points and he said what did you find some kind of a magic pill, (with a nasty tone,) I said I have been on a low carb and no more vegetable oils, he didn't say nothing else. I wish I knew a Dr who was like you to help us and not push all the pills at us!! I am seeing improvement in my body with just these improvements every day.
I’m so glad you talked about fruit juices and honey. About three years ago, I managed through trying different diets, to lose about 30 pounds and get down to the 160 pounds that I should weigh. But, I still had that little bit of a belly that I could not get rid of, I was doing keto after a fashion but I had never gotten rid of the honey in my coffee and I think it was the honey that sabotaged me. I’m going to try this again. Because of course I gained all of that weight back and I’m up around 190 now. I come from very thin people. I was 132 pounds when I went in the navy at 5‘10“.. I weighed 155 when I got out of Boot Camp. They put a little more muscle on me. For most of my life I have been in the upper 180s to 190s. Now at 55 years old, I have arthritis in my hands all of my joints really. A potbelly I can’t get rid of, so I’m going to give this another try. Thanks for talking about the honey. Everyone says how good honey is for you and it may have a lot of nutrients in it, but the sugar is spiking your insulin. I should’ve known this it was a blind spot though… Thanks again
I ate some carb laden foods over the weekend, after 1 and a half years of no processed carbs. Boy that was a big mistake. Sunday evening I threw up a lot. Monday I woke up to a massive headache and my face and eyes were so swallow I could barely open them. Needless to say I missed 2 days of work. Carbs are not worth it at all.
I have been researching keto and today is my first day! Ran into your videos, this is the first one I am watching. Thank you soooo much! You made this so simple! 💗💗
Thank you again, my go to doctor. I am 72, have been on IMF since June and Carnivore (mostly) since September. I have lost 23 pounds and am feeling fine. No sugar. No oats, corn, wheat, etc. No gluten in any forms. No bad oils. I do 20:4 IMF every day, my eating window from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I weighed 112 this a.m. and am off all Rx crap. I take electrolytes, vitamin D3/K2, and vitamin C. I do not get colds. I do have some lingering aches but am hoping as I continue all that will cease. When I transition to beef and lo carb veg/fruit in a month or so, I will go slowly with small amounts.
👏👏Bravo! THANK YOU! I’m 275 lbs and want to try keto but it’s been so confusing & I keep getting conflicting info🤦♀️ugg! Tomorrow is a new day & im gonna try it! Thank you very much!!!
I was thinking to start keto after I finish eating some things in my pantry like oats and wheat but after this video I’m just gonna give them away . I’m 28 and been having pain on different organs on my left side and I been noticing my heart rate go up and I just feel like I have inflammation in my body and I just want to feel healthy and normal again. Can’t wait to start keto. Thank you.
Sent this to my sister. Hubby, daughter and I have just started keto. We've been working on lowering carbs for several weeks. Weaning off junk foods and sweets were hardest part. Thanks for information. Keeping it easy!
There are 3 months for me on keto. My bad asthma disappeared. I had so many hormonal imbalances (my period lasted more than 2 weeks and my mammary glands were inflamed and painfull...seen on echo it showed inflamation). All disappeared .Lost 5 kg and 7 more to loose but kg melted while eating more calories with healthy fats (i used to eat less than 1000 cal a day). In few months i will be 40 . I began IF and things got even better . Thank you. Thank you for the human way of presenting this diet as being normal and natural...some of the keto gurus scared the hell out of me with "protein turns into glucose" but ...didn't hapen so...thank you for the honesty 😊
Dr. Ken, at age 67 I started Keto on March 12th (at the recommendation of my Florida relatives), to get better health, lower BP, lose weight and get off meds. I actually have bought a "few" things, a Keto-mojo monitor and your book "Lies my doctor told me" which (after 108 pages 'cause I can't put it down) is an amazing eye opener. I downloaded the Carb Manager app for my phone. Going for the 70-25-5 ratio which is probably the steepest learning curve for me. On March 12 I weighed 206.3 lb. On March 13 I weighed 201.7 lb. Today, March 14, my sugar (am) was 108, Keytones 1.1 which I'm told is good, will check my weight in the evening. I have subbed your channel and am following up on the research you suggest in your book. I'm glad that I found you and your information. Will keep you posted on my progress.
I started the Keto Diet and completed one week this past Sunday. I lost 14 lbs. in 7 days. Diabetic with high blood pressure and hypothyroidism. I really want to get off these terrible drugs, so I am sticking with it. Thank you Dr. Ken Berry. 198 lbs. down to 184 lbs.
@@maneuschwander6394 You can have diet sodas on keto. Technically "dirty keto," but still fine. Phenylalanine (aspartame) is non-caloric and non-glycemic. For some people it _may_ still spike insulin levels regardless, but that's going to be different for each and every person.
Hey, due to how cheap they are, all those bad oils are great for starting bonfires. Pour a bottle of it over some flammable materials like wood and a little on some cardboard. Light the cardboard and put it under some wood that's soaked in the oil and it will light right up usually.
Thanks again, Dr. Berry. I have been on keto for 5 months, lost 27 pounds . My energy level has increased, no carbohydrate cravings, and I can go longer between meals without getting hungry. Works for me 😊
I praise Jesus that I found your channel! You are very informative and dole out useful, practical information. I subscribed, and even hit the bell- which I rarely ever do. Thank you for the knowledge! God Bless!
Over the summer my wife was eating keto, so I started playing with it. Bacon and eggs for breakfast, little Debbie treats and french fries at lunch. Then I got my bloodwork back: pre diabetes. I stopped playing and got serious that day. Been keto ever since, and I think part of my success is that I took it slow and played around with it to start, so when it was time to get serious, it was quite easy.
Fill it with low carb food you enjoy, meat, eggs, hard cheese, heavy cream, low carb veggies and fruits if you choose to eat veggies, fruits, and dairy, which you don't have to.

Dr. Berry, what can a vegetarian eat for protein other than eggs? I don’t eat any fish or meat. Please help.

I did my latest hemoglobinAIC and it is way down, so did my weight. Thank you Dr. Barry from the most bottom of my heart. Thank you for literally saving my life and sanity.

Melissa Lewis good job!!

Walter F Wow. You're in quite a battle, but are standing your ground. Good for you. Hopefully your wife will see the light one day.

This is good information. Thank you from NC
@@libertyrd1225 That is still made from wheat.... he said no wheat. Do you want to succeed or not.
What I've realized
When you change your diet successfully, and you start losing weight and reducing inflammation
Your loved ones will tell you what you're doing is wrong, and that you should stop, I am optimal weight
Yet I am skinny shamed, your loved ones or friends that are unhealthy overweight pre diabetic diabetic they will shoot you down for trying to improve your health.
George Orwell where did you see the bad reviews
Thank you! I'm just looking into keto and trying to find the right information.
How you doing today?
@@shanegallant9018 That's awesome. Thanks for sharing your progress. Hope you are doing well!
A1c from 6.5 down to 4.9. Thanks doc
I hope you and your family keep the spirit and made it. How was it anyway? Now its been 2 years since you first started?
Awesome, kudos to you all!!!
I’m ready to give this another go, so I’m binge watching your videos...again! Thank you for sharing!
I am binge watching them now....
Haha 😂 Me too! Starting tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Thank you Dr. Berry for not being another pharma agent and exposing the true benefits. I will keep watching your videos and learning.

KETO Diamond hi there, I gain weight on keto. Can you help me please? Thanks
KETO Diamond im interested in learning
Keto diamond im wanting to do this. Please message me.
Thanks! I wish you were my doc doc...you're nothing short of amazing...
I'm hoping that in time I'll be able to reduce that insulin amount and perhaps even send my diabetes completely into remission. One step at a time! :D
Laura - Dr. Jason Fung has good videos on how to reverse diabetes through IF.

Lynette

I have not eaten dairy, grains or sugar since 2006 I did an experiment last month and ate a snickers bar...the next day my finger joints were swollen and sore for two days.
Processed sugar tends to do that.
Did it give you diarrhea or cramps?
I have not been keto for a few weeks and I have to say, it sucks. I feel like shit, joints ache, my bowels are all messed up. It's just that we have been eating summertime foods that are not keto and being the odd man out while starting keto is hard. Our last official pre-school "vacation" is next weekend which will be my last non-keto week. The initial return to keto might suck, but it is worth doing again, because I know the benefits outweigh it all.
Mine did the same with concord grapes.

You’re my fav doctor on TH-cam ! So honest and real! Love your videos.
Linda Charron I ended up with the return of my late night jumpy legs when I returned to carbs. Usually it would be one leg but it was both.
Linda Charron wow. I did that and my heart started beating real fast
Amazing to see the effect that food has on the body. Thank goodness we know now
Oh yeah? I went off low carb and within a few days, my knees hurt and I started to have angina.
Well at least you missed all the carbon dioxide on the way to work for two days...lol
I was5'3" 170lbs. Started keto+intermittent diet 2 month ago. Now, I'm 145lbs. 20lbs to go!!!
👏👏Bravo! THANK YOU! I’m 275 lbs and want to try keto but it’s been so confusing & I keep getting conflicting info🤦♀️ugg! Tomorrow is a new day & im gonna try it! Thank you very much!!!
Hows the weight loss?
True doctor. Ken the healer, all over the world!
God bless you. Hippocrates would have been PROUD of you.
this gives me comfort and excitement going into keto diet...other channels just gave me anxiety
Thank you.
I'm new to keto and found your channel today after I visit my doctor for my blood tests results that I have pre-diabetes.

Honesty is a rarity. This old jaded skeptic feels I can trust Dr Berry.
Fyi....14lbs in 7 days not possible. Also extremely dangerous and unhealthy. I'm gonna call bullshit here Ms. Lying to strangers kinda shitty.
Please post more video's on the steps to a Keto diet.

There's a whole keto 101 playlist with lots of videos you can check out
now that I have nothing in my kitchen, I am going to fast till pay day
😂
I hope you’re not still fasting lol
@Concerned Citizen - Now only water - supposed to throw out the Diet Coke too! Sorry!
Lol
@@maneuschwander6394 You can have diet sodas on keto. Technically "dirty keto," but still fine. Phenylalanine (aspartame) is non-caloric and non-glycemic. For some people it _may_ still spike insulin levels regardless, but that's going to be different for each and every person.
You and your excellent advice have been such a blessing to us, Dr. Berry! Thank you.☺️
Hey, due to how cheap they are, all those bad oils are great for starting bonfires.
God Bless!
Jesus used to multiply the bread 'miraculously'. He does not stand a chance when it comes to this diet.
Hi Dr Ken. After we clean out fridge cupboard etc. What is the next step please?? Can you make a video on that. Thank you.
Do a search on his older videos. He discusses all of that.
A tea break
Fill it with low carb food you enjoy, meat, eggs, hard cheese, heavy cream, low carb veggies and fruits if you choose to eat veggies, fruits, and dairy, which you don't have to.
Dr Berry you are the best so honest and natural. God bless you. You are saving us from big pharma. I feel like a million dollars since doing Keto. Please do a podcast with Dr Urvin in England
