Okay, the thumbnail is more clickbaity than I thought, I hear you loud and clear! I’m not selling the enduro (yet), but this story is important for a lot of us since we almost all sell our bikes. I thought I was safe with PayPal and you might think that too! Back to riding next week :) thanks for the feedback.

Still great information in the vid thanks bud
Admittedly you got me with the click bait. But, I still listened to the whole story despite your trickery. Selling anything to anyone is generally a nightmare but I find people (like in this case) who are trying to save a few bucks on high end merchandise are the worst. Personally if I am spending this much in the first place I would much prefer to by new and put my own scratches on the item in question.
I agree, there was some great information within the video. And I can tell you're a really great person. Triple.
This is why I quit using PayPal altogether when this happened to me selling all my old paintball equipment
I'm selling my 2018 S-Works Enduro
Nick, I guarantee this individual has done this before with PayPal or some other vendor. He knew exactly what he was doing. You did everything correctly. This guy knew the more he bugged PayPal they would eventually cave. PayPal just paid him to make him go away. It can be sketchy selling and shipping anything these days. The unscrupulous people learn to work the system. Bob T.
Yes, some people are so bad
Exactly what I was going to advise.
I did some selling on a popular auction site 15 years ago or so with little to no issues I took a decade off and recently dabbled in selling again, OMG !!!! I can't believe the chiseler buyers I've dealt with in the last year or so and the return requests or partial refunds over nothing, between that and the fee's now days the moneys not in it like it used to be :( for me.
Yep, and I bet that bike was back on PinkBike for sale at your price 1 day after he received the refund from PayPal. Sounds like a pre-planned scam right from the start. I am REALLY unimpressed by PayPal's initial response to his complaint in that they assumed your guilt and didn't investigate. Paypal simply waited to see if you countered their decision. This gives me very little confidence to use PayPal again. Also, thinking twice about Venmo...as PayPal owns Venmo. Good info to know. Thanks.
Will never use PayPal.....cash, Venmo or Zelle for me.
*Paypal always sides with the buyer, without regard to the facts of the transaction.*
*Buyers can return you an empty box with a rock in it and as long as they have record of delivery, Paypal will automatically refund them.*
My overriding takeaway from the video is that you're a GOOD person.
Truly rare
MAN! I went through a nearly identical situation selling a bike a year back. I was listening to your story and reliving it. In my situation, I had the box, the bike was disassembled and protected and I was pretty well ready to drive to the agreed upon shipper to send my bike off into the unknown. In the end I decided I wanted to sell locally as he wanted to use paypal for his protection and I wanted an e-transfer for mine. All possible he was legit, but he started offering more than asking price (including shipping and insurance) and my gut said something seemed amiss. A couple weeks later it sold local for slightly less but cash, and everyone was happy Thanks for the vid, this has reaffirmed my local only sales
You're a really patient person for putting up with that guy for so long. I would have told him after a week" you wanna talk to my wife?
The fear of every person selling and shipping online. I’ve heard too many PayPal horror stories of them siding with a buyer because the seller wasn’t able to provide proof like you did! Very important lesson in this video!
Reeeaaally sounds like he was trying to rip you off. He would've kept the bike and disappeared once the money was refunded back to him.
I'm having the opposite situation where I just purchased a bike on pinkbike. Had it shipped across country and when I unpacked the the rear derailleur cage was snapped clean off and the seat stay was cracked all the way through. Initially thought it might have been from shipping. Brought to a repair shop to get the crack repaired and they found 2 spots inside the seat and chain stays that had been painted over and worn almost all the way through the carbon. Contacted the seller and said they owe me a frame. None of the damage was disclosed in the ad. Apparently seller knew about the painted areas, but claimed shipping caused the crack and derailleur damage so UPS should pay for that and then they'd cover the rest for a frame. The box had no obvious signs of damage and it's looking more like the seller is trying to get UPS to pay for damage that was already there so they don't have to refund as much. Called UPS to submit a damage claim like seller wanted. UPS wanted to take the bike, inspect and then send back to the seller leaving me out $4500 and a bike. Told UPS about the damage situation and that it seemed clear it was prior to shipment. They decided to do a photo claim instead so I could at least keep the damaged bike for now and that's where I'm at. Don't think UPS will approve the claim, and then I will probably end up having to file a PayPal complaint. I have many pictures from the original ad, the unboxing, messages with the seller, the repair shop and so I should have enough evidence I got scammed. Definitely second the documentation of everything. Got scammed on another bike purchase where there was no bike, but luckily had enough evidence in my favor to get that money back. Hoping for the same again. Might have to start going to my LBS for bikes from now on. Not worth the potential savings getting a used bike.
Wow.. Honestly, I would have lost patience with the guy's indecisiveness and ghosted him by the 3rd email, haha! I commend your patience with that whole situation. 😩
What you described is a very common PayPal scam. Scammers do this all the time, buy item, then dispute with PayPal and get their money back from you, and then never return the item.
Dude! I’ve never heard of this and I just sold a $4k Yeti via PayPal. Not again...
Despite all these "folks" being super triggered about the picture being click-bait... Calm down guy's not that big of a deal... What was he supposed to use for a thumbnail??? Find an old picture on Google???? It's not the bike he was talking about so technically that is still click-bait!!! I am just happy your making the best of your weather and at least getting videos out.... We haven't dropped a video in a couple weeks and because my channel partner broke his wrist there isn't much to do a video about
Unfortunate story! I think you're spot on about scammers often being really vague and using poor communication. On the flip side though some could nitpick every single detail - so as a seller if's probably important to really document the hell out of the transaction details.
As someone who sells a lot of stuff on Pinkbike, always get the money before you send anything out!
Ben Battista or do it through a bike shop. Ring the shop give the $100 bucks or so and ship it to the address then the buyer can check-out the bike at the shop then can directly invoice you the money right through the bike shops transactions then. The shop transfers you the money. Sounds complicated but in reality it’s quite simple that what I did with my bike and it worked a dream
jack heaton yeah! My bad, I didn’t mean to say that was a bad option, and I’ve definitely heard of people doing that. There’s just some crappy people in this world unfortunately and it’s best to take some very careful precautions when selling to someone on the internet! Or, like you said, go through a bike shop and dish out the extra $!
But he did get his money first. And PayPal essentially took it back.
@@mrsmartypants_1 Which should be illegal. Paypal shouldn't even be involved in that decision. If the buyer feels that they have been wronged in the transaction, small claims court would be the appropriate remedy. Paypal should have no right to steal funds from someone that has completed a transaction based solely on a one party's request.
Heath Weber: My first reaction is to agree 100%. I’m not an attorney versed in corporate “middle man” transactions - the part that PayPal plays here - so I’d have to study up to make an informed final decision. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. But at the end of that analysis I’d put $ on the fact that I’d probably still agree with you 100%.
Yeah paypal does have really solid buyer protection in cases where a seller does something wrong. It's important for sellers to document everything on a large transaction to cover their side of things if a buyer makes a claim. In my case as a buyer it covered my ass when a seller didn't include a headset, and brake caliper mounts that he said were included when I bought a used frame on pinkbike.
If he said they were included your claim is of course right.
But if there was a misunderstanding, brake mounts and a regular headset only cost a few dollars.
Paypal shouldn’t refund the whole money for a frame over a few dollars.
There should have been a settlement over 50 or so dollars and everybody’s happy.
If it wasn’t a Chris King Headset of course..
Literally just happened to me with a set of brakes.
Did you get your money back when you appealed?
@@S.Minkii it's still being reviewed by PayPal but it's looking good in my favor. Guy bought them. Tried to sell a week later. Tried to install 2 weeks later. Messaged me said the bike shop told hin k had a cracked piston, immediately opened a dispute w PayPal and then posted on Facebook if anyone can rebuild brakes. I have all the screenshots w dates and messages from him. And the ad says sold as is. So I think I would be tough for PayPal to side w the buyer on it. But I guess well see
Yep and me, they just took my money ! Last time they ever will 😉
Looks like PayPal sided w the buyer. Assholes. I guess I'm just like a walmart now. Yeah sure just buy it break it and then go through PayPal to return it. I'm pissed
@@livefreeandshred9818 Paypal nearly ALWAYS sides with the buyer. I had this happen back in 2006 with a shock. The buyer didn't know what a shock pump was and tried to use a normal bike pump on it. When that didn't work he opened a dispute with paypal and they sided with him. I had to go outside their process and explain nicely to him how to not be a moron. Then he took a week to remove the dispute and never apologized. After that I greatly prefer selling direct to people, preferably people I know personally, ride with, etc
Now I understand why people dont want to sell their bikes by paypal or any other way and ship it 😂😂
From what you've said it sounds like you did every single step in the process 100% correct. It sucks that people do that. I recently just sold my mtn bike on pinkbike. Same thing, super good deal, and under blue book value for really nice full carbon and full suspension bike ironically a 2014 also. I was super lucky that the guy i was dealing with was super friendly. We facetimed every day i showed him everything on the bike and the condition of it prior to any money being transferred. We went through paypal initially as pinkbike recommends, but the buyer did not want to pay the transaction fee so i refunded him the money in full, and he actually sent me a venmo !! Would not recommend this , but it made the money situation 1 million times less stressful for me as the seller. I facetimed him while I packed up the bike, drove to the post office and mailed it. Once I was at the post office he sent the money to me. I got lucky with it too, but like you said if it doesnt feel right at first its probably not worth dealing with at all. I am happy you were at least able to get the money in full.
Dude - that’s a crazy story - I don’t love the arduous process of selling my old bikes when I’m ready to upgrade - I’m always worried they’re going to decide the bike isn’t as described - I try to avoid shipping bikes at all cost. Way to take the high road!
Ye mate i had almost exactly same thing last year with my old dh bike exept the buyer were denying it had arrived despite tracking proving it had been delivered pay pal were going in his father n wernt listening to my proof because he organised shipping. After a month of all sorts of hastle eventually got my money
This is why I recommend and do local cash sales only... I also complete all transactions and transfers of the goods in a well occupied places. I also bring someone along with me as security.. My son a few years back was selling his bmx bike online. After 2 days of negotiations he agreed on a price and meeting spot. Upon our arrival to the grocery store parking lot, the young man purchasing the bike had two of his friends staged behind cars in the attempt to steal the bike. Once I saw what was going on and they saw me, the so-called buyer told my son he didn’t have all the money and could he go back home and get it.. My son then told him the deals off! As we walked away, the boy then started yelling come fight me bro...
I bought two MTB's off pinkbike and didn't have any issues because they were local "cash only" exchanges. Although both of the seller's were very paranoid because they had had bad experiences. I tried to buy another bike off pinkbike recently and the seller was convinced that PayPal was a legit way to exchange cash. In the end I decided against it because it was a lot of money and I had heard stories about sending electronic funds and how sketchy it is. Mainly with Square being the same thing you described, they can just do whatever they want with your electronic account. I think Pinkbike is a great way to exchange bikes and parts but I think local is the best way if possible. Thanks for sharing your story!
Dude that's so scary! I bought a bike from Sport Junkies right across the street from Dunbar, and it was a full suspension bike with an external reverb dropper for $950. At the time I thought I had gotten a great deal, but as soon as I got more knowledge I began to realize that I got scammed, and there was at least $1000 to put into this bike to make it ride-able. It's been a battle ever since and I'm finally done with it! I can't wait to get the Enduro as soon as I save up for the bike! Great video keep up the great work!
Good advice, man.
Had similar brushes with bizarre behaving (potential) bike buyers on Pinkbike.
Crazy demands and outrageous lowball offers.
I'll be keeping my bikes.
Sounds like Pinkbike is as bad as selling on craigslist.
I worked for a company where we shipped to Canada a lot, people always request this but there is only so much you can do to help. If the declared value doesn't match the actual value it will be held by customs. The best you can do legally is drop it down to the dealer price that was paid for the item. Or it can be labeled as scrap and declared value as such, but that will raise other questions for shippers.
I worked in PE and was involved in PayPal early on. I have a single point of contact with PP. I sold a couple Sparc20 workstations 10Y ago and the buyer stated he didn't get them. Signed for the package which was proven via tracking. Denied it was his signature. PayPal refunded the dude. UPS produced the GPS proof that the machines were delivered to his home and used signature copies from other deliveries he'd signed for proof of signature (thanks UPS). PayPal was going to give me half of the sale price to settle my appeal. I sued PP for 3x the invoiced amount and they agreed to the figure to settle the case. My rep actually asked me why "I would bother with a trivial amount" of $6K.
Craigslist scammers have some pretty convincing scams out there too, I hate dealing with this kind of shit, gotta be super careful and read the fine print😑
Craziest put of the story was that selling the bike paid for a semester of tuition.
Sold 3 bikes on PB and bought 2. Never had bad experiences, tbh it just feels like an honest community.
Dude. I almost bought a bike on what I thought was eBay using PayPal. The error I saw that caused me to look closer was the eBay © date was 2013 and it was 2017 on eBay on my phone app. Always be vigilant. Important subject, man🤙👍
Thank you very much for this video. I am literally just today about to commit to selling my $3000 bike and shipping it. I just can’t get comfortable with the situation. Then I see your video. I just backed out of the deal and will now deal locally, face-to-face only.
For all the bike and car stuff I sell I've learned to only do local pickup and cash only. Takes longer to sell some stuff but avoids all this shitty situations
I think putting your 2020 enduro in the thumbmail was very misleading for many of your fans who saw your original post a couple days back
In France we said "putaclic", very disapointing instead.....
Maybe if you complain to paypal they will give you your money back?
This just confirms for me my position that I'll only ever sell things locally, in person, and in a public place with lots of people around. I tend to set up sales to meet with somebody at a gas station or a WalMart parking lot - somewhere where there'd be a lot of "witnesses." I'm selling an engine right now and it's making me really nervous to know that I'm probably going to have to have the buyer come to my house to pick it up from my garage.
Neverrrrr take someone to your house. Just think ahead what would happen.
Jun Boo agreed. Or worse yet, don’t ever go into someone else’s home if you’re buying. In the case of my engine, when the buyer turns up I plan to have the engine rolled out into the driveway on the engine stand, garage door closed, house locked.
Beginner To Whistler Yes and if you can far from your house. Imagine that guy identifying your house and coming later with a drama. I wish you the best in that transaction.
I try to sell all my stuff in person as well but almost got wrapped up in mailing a bike out yesterday... This is what I feared most.
As a buyer (eBay) I had a close call for an e-bike. I won the auction, immediately paid for the item via Paypal, arranged to have the bike shipped to me and in fact, the bike was dropped off at a shop in order to accomplish the packing/shipping. Then found out from the shop that the bike had been stolen! I immediately went to my BANK to cancel the payment, was successful, but here's the lesson: do NOT use a debit card for the payment method for Paypal because the bank informed me that if you do that, and the seller won't refund you your money (for whatever reason), you are STUCK! The bank is powerless to do anything.
Of course, it would have been helpful if the seller had indicated in the ad copy that the bike had been stolen, but perhaps I'm asking too much.
Just curious, why would the seller admit to having stolen the bike?
Had someone do this over a camera I sold them. Told them it didn't come with a lens and met with them in person, showed them the camera, and offered them a lens to buy separate so they would have one and be able to use the camera. He said no he just wanted the camera body only. Later messages me (sold it through Facebook, that was a mistake), saying he needs to return it and that I lied because I said I was selling him a camera but I didn't because it doesn't have a lens (Ummmmm...its not a camera?). He ended up getting my phone number somehow and my address and called/texted nonstop and stalked my apartment. Had to threaten to call the police on him.
All in all, I say avoid selling on Facebook so that the buyer (or seller) can't see your picture and plenty of other personal information. At least through pinkbike you remain pretty anonymous!
I listed my old bike on pinkbike once. Sold it in person for full price in the end. However, there was this buyer who was very keen to buy it and wanted it shipped to mexico. I was cautious enough to refuse and turns out I was right because a few weeks later, I check my inbox and pinkbike has labeled his account as a "VERIFIED SCAMMER".
😳
I was selling a bike while I was in school to a guy through Pinkbike. Everything was good to go, the bike was packed up by my local bike shop ready to ship and I had money through Paypal. My bike shop was taking a little longer than the guy wanted to ship and this guy started telling me I should give him money back and how it was all my fault. By the end of it I refunded him his money and went up to my bike shop and got my bike back. Guy was a real jerk about all of it and I am glad I didn't sell the bike to him. Some people are just assholes.
I almost started complaining about every buyer whose tried to or succeeded in ripping me off on fleabay. I need to go back to my happy place.
Cant wait for you to get back to posting riding videos! Love the stories, but the POV shredding is why you are the only youtuber i have turned on notifications for!
They’re back next week and already on Patreon :)
PayPal ALWAYS sides with the buyer (unless you've a something akin to a signed confession by the buyer that they're screwing you over), I've lost hundreds of £s in the past to people abusing that. It's why I won't use PP any more.
I actually heard the opposite is true, where they tend to side with the buyer. Either way, selling in person is best !
NEVER using PayPal again, thanks for sharing man!
Ebay's "protection" for sellers is just as bad. Sold a frame, excellent condition, properly described to someone in california (but shipped from Canada), who i realized later had tried to defraud me six months earlier. In the earlier case it was a suspension fork which he tried to claim wasn't delivered despite my having tracking that proved it was delivered. Later I discovered he was using a different userid's with different addresses only a few dozen yards apart. On the later issue, the frame (a green GT Sensor 9R), he opened one of those "item not as described claims" demanding his money back and the frame was bent and refused to provide any evidence it wasn't as described, and refused to return the frame claiming I was a scammer who'd just turn around and relist it for some other unsuspecting buyer to purchase. Ebay/Paypal initially sided with him when he escalated the claim and then reversed it and sided with me since he wasn't following ebay's required dispute steps and had instantly escalated his claim knowing the algorithm would likely protect him because of ebay's stupid buyer protection rules which are purposely written to fuck over sellers. So in the end I had my money, he had the frame. A few days later I come to discover he's posted the same frame for sale for more money from the other userid, the one he tried to defraud me from on the fork, with new photos but he was so stupid he neglected to remove a sticker on the seat tube that was unique and there on the frame i sold. Of course when he posted it for sale he calls it excellent condition with no mention of the damage he claimed was there when disputing the purchase. So I make another phonecall to ebay's fraud department and his accounts got banned.
I do believe that this has to be the best - walk while I talk, vids
Hey man, would've been interesting if you could try a plus bike or even a fat bike in that kind of weather.
Good to know information. Scary that through all the communication with him, it could go so poorly. Glad it worked out for you.
Thanks for advise, there is alot of shady people out there. What bothers me is they ruin it for the honest ones. I have never sold or bought a bike without going to my l.b.s. , seems for the extra I spend there I get it back in future sales and service.
I'm in Montreal and always thought that there was not any snow, ever, in Vancouver.
Nice story and appreciate the message. Scammers are everywhere. I just want to point out how funny it was to see the Specialized haters over the last few days over the thumbnail, and preview on patreon.
I just don’t get why all the shade that company gets from the mountain bike community.
Thanks for the advice. I know there's many people trying to get anything for free. Now I don't know if I will sell my Megatower for pinkbike. Thanks for sharing this happened to you
This is the reason why my FleaBay account is literally inactive. Too many scammers out there and the customer rules, no matter how much of a jerk they are. In person, in cash is my rule.
Glad you got your cash. My PP account got hacked 1 month after opening it back in 2008. Luckily my bank noticed, PP did nothing. Never used them again.
your videos are always a lesson, paper trails are king.
This is why i do not use PayPal anymore. Almost got caught as well. Thanks for sharing the story to inform other people
Thx Nic. I’ll ad my bike on PinkBike and definitely this information will help me think about in offers like that. Cheers
Glad you didn't lose out! What the hell is wrong with some people? So did you like the Arcade? I've been playing around on a Hex trying to learn some skills and have some fun. Cheers
ive done over 100 transactions on pinkbike since the early 2000's, and ALL of the issues like this has been with americans, thats why i stick to only canadians on pinkbike at this point..
Yeah I don't deal with indecisive people. Time is too important and you already know they're going to be needy. Just block them.
That's crazy! It burns a little he got a grand back for the the bike. That would have been weird if you put his address and phone number in the show more. LMAO!!!!
I've thought about mailing one of those glitter bombs...
VanCan There’s even one that will mail poop...just saying. 🤔😂
Brutal. What a goof. I make sure buyers are aware of duties and brokerage fees when selling to US buyers, but even that wouldn't helped you here. "Final sale" is key!
If you are going to sell in person NEVER give out your address, just do meet ups in a safe place. Its common here for them to get your address and brake in to get the bike later.
odd but every frame or fork I have bought from Canada and had shipped to US has never had a tariff changed.
This reminds me of when I tried to sell my iPod touch to someone in “Africa” when I was like 12 years old lmao he claimed he never got it and wanted his money back, should always just stick to in person
Had same experience with a guitar amp from 1962. Guy said it was scratched. I laughed , and said theres 60 years of life on it. he didn't get his money back.
Had two different people on Pinkbike ask me to ship a $180 kids bike across the country when my add clearly stated local sale only. One guy got pretty insistent I should quote him a price to have an LBS pack it up and ship it. For one hundred eighty dollars. Yeah... no. Not Jensen or ChainReaction here pal, just a dad cleaning out the garage.
PP has so much seller fraud where they don't ship anything and try to keep the money they ALWAYS side with the buyer, it's kinda dumb.
Why would you click bait your own fans lol
Take cash. But if not, take a check and a picture of his drivers license. If the check is bad, it's a violation of the bad check law and you can the buyer locked up. You just have to call the local sheriff and press charges. Better yet, use the threat to get cash.
I had a guy who successfully scammed 800dollars, almost from me, but instead paypal paid for it. It took 90 days of fighting. He claimed I sent nothing in the box and when I sent it USPS using a label I printed out and dropped it off at the post office, the package read 0lbs 0oz on the tracking, even though we all know just a box doesn't weight 0lbs 0oz, I could not prove otherwise that there was anything inside the box when sent. It all started when I wasn't having too much interest in the item priced at 1000 because it was old stock, but still NIB, he kept bothering me over and over on eBay to sell it cheaper. I eventually caved and did so, it all seemed odd how he communicated and it felt off. It all goes to show, trust your gut.
It makes me mad that he still got a free item, even if I'm not the one who paid for it, they refunded me not out of his pocket but said they will do a one time grace payment to me. The case kept getting dropped but I kept appealing.
I love his sunglasses ! Which brand/model are they?
Wow. I just learnt a whole lot from your experience.
When I was selling my bike so many people tried to scam me like that. Just use cash or em transfer and do local meetups
I tend to use exclusively Pinkbike messaging. That way they cant delete anything and claim anything. It won't solve all the issues but its a good place to start. Also because I know a lot of people don't check Pinkbike messages very often. so it already weeds out most of the scammy buyers
Also, make sure that your card is always disconnected from paypal, never have a balance on paypal
Nice snowy walk at Burnaby Mountain.
Another good use case for Bitcoin (although caution must be used if you're the buyer): can't get your money back unless the seller agrees to send it back. Would avoid things like this, although it's obviously nicer accepting than paying. Although there's ways to do contracts to protect both sides.
He never wanted to send it back. He was probably going for this end game of ripping off either you or paypal all the time. This was just one of the 2 possible outcomes for this guy.
The moral of the story should be to not deal and sell to people that talk so much.
It’s unfortunate using PayPal that a buyer just has to have “buyers remorse” and he can return the item to the seller and be fully refunded... What a hassle for the seller!
This happens all the time; these bottom feeders are not satisfied until they pull everyone into their misery.
I like these storytime videos
NEVER link a bank account to PayPal!!!!! Link it to a credit card. They make you jump through hoops to be able to link to a card, but it is worth it. Too many stories of the seizing people's money out there. They are NOT a bank and should not be treated as one.
Can you withdrawl funds from Paypal account against a credit card? I might start doing that, credit card companies are way more customer focused than banks.
sort of related question... when looking at new bikes, i saw a couple you were considering. did the new Slayer factor in their somewhere? just curious as to why it was excluded if that was the case.
It wasn’t out yet but I still would have gone with the enduro.
Such a bad look for paypal. They basically lie to you about keeping the money once it is sent to you. They then buy this loser's complaint and instantly treat you as the guilty party with no questions and ding you for 2k. Finally, they get hustled by the loser and give him a thousand bucks. What a clown show of a company.
The REAL story here is $2K FOR TUITION??!!!!
OMG Canada! Oh how lucky you are! Don’t let the profiteers in and hike your school costs through the stratosphere!!!!
I bought a paintball gun and some gear from Kentucky . NEVER again am i gonna buy from a private seller from down there. I had to get my local police involved. Not cool
Great video as I'm currently selling my S-Works Enduro on Pink Bike. Thanknyou for the advice.
I got burned by paypal a few months ago for a few hundred dollars. I try not to do any business with them.
Noted. Write down "Final Sale"
Sorry for your horrible experience. I’ve had something similar just learn from it and move on.
Not even joking story time is the best
Don't sell anything through PayPal ever. Entire businesses have been shuttered because of PayPal.
This is why I hate selling things. Jerks like the guy you had to deal with. My guess, paypal will keep tracking this guy and realize he is a scammer.
Totally believe you mate.
Selling a bike right now and man oh man the people you have to deal with haha
I only use Paypal when buying online. I never, EVER, use Paypal when selling something. Paypal could care less about the seller.
In the future, send/receive money as a gift. if you send it as a product, all the buyer has to do is complain and paypal basically refunds the buyer. Ive stopped dealing with ebay/paypal just for this reason. One of my friends actually got scammed for 2000$ for a corvette soft-top, dude said the "condition was terrible" etc and sent photos to paypal of a different top from a different year of car...paypal refunded his money and pulled it from my friends account. 100% net loss.
I only like using PayPal when buying, gives a lot of protection when dealing with shipping and potential misrepresentation.
Cash is King.
Yeah man thats Paypal for ya... and scammers now it! That why whenever I make a deal over 1k or so using paypal, I go to my bank as soon as payment clears and shut down that acct and get a new acct which is a pain since paypal is linked to your bank routing/acct #'s but I will never ever rely on Paypal again!
Note to self write “final sale” phew
Definitely!
