Sometimes I feel like I'm a bit too old for youtube and the internet, I don't understand all the teen entertainment and social culture anymore, really. It gets me feeling like an outcast - but then I watch vlogbrothers and read the comments and I don't feel like that for a little while. (Not in a bad way!) I just appreciate the variety in this community. Thanks, guys.
Agree and also, I realize that I don't necessarily need to understand teen entertainment and social culture, just that teens aren't all that different than they were when I was that age. And to some degree, not all that different than I am now. And then alongside that, those Green Brothers and their wisdom beyond their years warms my heart and I think maybe, just maybe humanity is worth saving after all.
I don't usually comment but I love how the title combined with the thumbnail makes it look like Hank is the foolish and John is the beautiful.

I think one of the stupidest/foolish moments of VlogBrothers history was when the Strawberry Hill wine was a punishment for making a video longer than 4 mins. Love you guys! Been watching since Brotherhood 2.0

Edit: completly unrelated, but when I was in high school I had a stint with trying to find my beliefs and (partially) left the vlogbrothers circle for a little while. I have since found my core beliefs and have never been more happy to call myself an avid nerdfighter.

my favourite foolish endeavour is in a similar vein to john's. a guy called dave gorman was drunkenly challenged to meet 54 other people also called dave gorman, and his search/obsession takes him across the world
The word “lovely” has worked its way into my everyday speech because of you guys.
I'm on a Hank and John binge now. These two brothers are amazing. I'm going to be as amazing to my siblings.
You know that moment when they say the same thing is real, because John cannot act with such authenticity (1:47).
I say that with utmost love (John jokes about his inability to act in the cut scene from TFiOS). I love the genuineness of the brothers, their relationship, and their love for the world.

I really like "extant;" it's got a sort of succinct weight. And "chartreuse," which is both novel and slightly pretentious.
Chartreuse is also the only color named after an alcohol. 😁

Thank you for being so so so kind on Saturday. It was an amazing show and getting to meet y'all was the cherry on top.
I LOVE Cats. My uncle was involved in the original production so I grew up going to the show and listening to the soundtrack. I know every melody and every word. When I was in my 20s I loved working in the area of London (Bloomsbury) where TS Eliot lived because so many place names are mentioned in it which are still there. it was my gateway into poetry and honestly I owe it a lot. I feel quite sad that so many people are now moved to yuck my yum based on clips of a movie without ever having seen or understood the musical. For the record I think the movie looks terrible but if you see it and like it, good for you!
This perfect line from the wall in the middle makes it look as if you two are not actually in the same room. And since John is basically looking front into the camera most of the time that effect really worked perfectly.

"It's just TH-cam" reminded me of a very sweet little tidbit in an article about Henri Jokiharju, a new defenseman on the Buffalo Sabres, my much beloved and not-particularly-good hockey team.* Jokiharju had pulled it together after a tough early shift and made a crucial game-saving play in the last minutes. He told an interviewer afterward that last year, an early shift would've thrown his whole game, but he's shifted his mentality thanks to advice from a fellow Finnish defenseman who's taken him under wing: "He told me that you can't stay on the small things. I think he sees the big picture. He just says to me, 'It's only hockey.'" It's just TH-cam, it's only hockey... advice we can all take to heart.
*Taken as a group, the Sabres' biggest claim to fame is that we lead the league in number of players named "Rasmus."
