First Impressions of South Korea - We Love Seoul!

- We are visiting Seoul, South Korea for the first time! We only have a short time here, so we are packing as much into this one day in Seoul as possible to get a realistic first impression of South Korea. While exploring famous landmarks like Changdeokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Myeongdong District, and Insadong Shopping Street, we try our first Korean foods including Bibimbap, purple berry ice cream, Korean BBQ, and even go to the famous Sul Bing for Bingsu!
This one day in Korea was jam packed! After arriving after midnight the night before, we started our day of exploring Seoul in the Myeongdong neighborhood. Getting our first impressions of Seoul is this district was awesome, because it has all the best shopping! We had heard that Korean skin care was first class, but seeing it in person in Myeongdong showed us what that really meant. We hopped on the train at Myeongdong and made a quick stop at Bukchon Hanock Village to see the beautiful Hanbok outfit and traditional buildings before heading to Insadong Shopping street where we narrowly evaded being scammed! If you're headed to Seoul for a trip of your own, make sure you keep an eye out for scammers!
We had our first proper Korean meal for lunch and it was incredible! I got the Bibimbap and Mico got stir fried pork (spicey!). Eating in Korea is a totally new experience for us and we were not expecting there to be so many dished served with our meal despite only order two plates. We were happily surprised at the variety and flavours that we got in our lunches.
After lunch we stumbled into Ikseon-Dong, which was a complete accident. This pedestrian only shopping area should be on every tourists map because it is stunning! We tried purple berry ice cream and strolled along the beautiful streets until it was time to go to Changdeokgung Palace. Seeing old-school Korean architecture up close in the form of a palace really made us feel like we were in Seoul. The Palace grounds were stunning, and we were glad to have the chance to learn a little bit about Korea history as we walked in the same place as many Kings before us.
We might have saved the best for last on our one day in Seoul. We ended our day by going out for Korean BBQ for with friends, and it was incredible! We didn't know what to expect of Korean BBQ, but it turns out that not only is Korean BBQ delicious, it's also a lot of fun to sit around and slowly share a meal with friends. To top off the night, we went to Sul Bing Cafe to try Bingsu for the first time. This milky, icy, dessert was the perfect way to end our first day in Seoul.
If you are planning a trip in Seoul and only have a short amount of time to visit, we can highly recommend replicating the day we had! The great thing about being a tourist in Seoul is there is so much to see and do, but any time you want to take a break and sit down for a while, you are bound to have incredible Korean food!

That's awesome! We've got a few videos coming out about Korea 😊
Korea also loves Mongolia. We need to be a little more like a family.
@@user-cg9te7le8h Oh really? Yeah i wish we were more closer
As a Korean, it kills me when foreigners eat bimbimbop without any sauce 😅. The sauce was in the red bottle. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed your time in Korea. Went there in 2012 and 2023, and will be going back next year. Can't wait.
Good advice!
Thank you 😊🥰🥰
@@nicoleandmicoHi! What country is Miko from?
I just got back from Seoul and it is indeed a modern city.
Great video! Seoul is one of the top cities I'd like to visit someday. You guys are amazing!
Thank you! We loved Seoul so much and hope you make it there someday soon!
For the bibimbap, you need to put gochujang on it, it’s a spicy and slightly sweet pepper sauce (probably was inside the red bottle you guys had on the table). That elevates the bibimbap to the next level!
Good to know for next time! Thank you!
@@nicoleandmico As a result, You didn't eat bibimbap. Gochujang is most important ingredient in bibimbap :)
@@uk9431 Gochugang and sesame oil.

I hope you get a chance to do some hiking and check out the busking night culture in some areas.
Just happened to see this as I'm spending my last night in Seoul! And (probably unsurprisingly) my hotel is also in Myeongdong. It's an awesome city - and try to see Busan as well. Equally crazy city with the coastal backdrop. Many thanks for the vlog - enjoy your stay! 🇰🇷😊
Thank you! Amazing city and so much to see :)
That bingsu looks sooo good
Fantastic first day! There is just something so interesting about the smell of historic places, and how it makes you think about what has happened at the location. I hope you guys eventually tried a few versions of Tteokbokki and made it to a night market.
We just loved exploring this city and as always, one day wasn’t enough to see it all. Honestly a month wouldn’t do it either, especially with all the food available for us to try 😊 yes we have our own food tour video as part of this series and we can’t wait to share it with you 🥰😋
When was your trip to Seoul? Just wondering coz I see you two in t shirt and shorts. was it a good time of the year to visit while walking around place to place?
This was in June. Great time to visit and awesome weather!
Summer is very very hot
Nice tour ❤ I want to travel Seoul😂
Such an awesome city 😀
YOU GUYS really had enjoyed my hometowm. Welcome any time as a True Seoulian. ^^.....b
Wonderful and beautiful Seoul and 2 of you as well........................Namaste
Thank you so much!
This is the weather in Seoul 2 days ago? How is the temperature like? Thanks
That's not the current Korean weather. Probably around June. I think that video was filmed before and uploaded now.
love from Singapore ❤
Thank you 😊
fyi, you can use spoon when you eat the bibimbap...
That was so funny at the end when nicole pressed the button to cross the street, then realised it was for police purposes.haha ....martin..bristol ........
we're still hoping the police never showed up 😳😅
If you have a korean friend, you know better how to eat Bibimbop😊
As a Korean, I disagree that Seoul is the center of South Korea. Seoul is the capital, but not the heart.
Omg! What is the taste of bibimbap without Gochujang(red pepper paste)? 🥵
Dry.
The buildings of Changdeokgung Palace are less than 50% of their original appearance. During the 36 years of Japanese oppression (1910-1945), beautiful buildings were opened and sold to Japan. They were all destroyed by U.S. airstrikes during World War II. That's why there are many empty spaces in the palace. Other palaces are the same.😊
PS You both have beautiful skin, so not missing out on all those stores! Obvs got that healthy travel glow 😉
Awe thank you!
Lol bibimbop is all about the sauce. without it it's literally bowl of rice and veggie 😂and you're saying it's super good
I promise I added red pepper paste!
Bibimbap without the red chilli paste is like pizza without the tomato paste
Rice never with chopsticks. Use spoon :)
Good to know!
When traveling to another country, please study and learn about the basic culture of that country. If you are not sure, ask people around you. Most of them will tell you well. These days, using a translator app on your cell phone is enough to understand the people of that country. You can talk to.
We always do our research but it isn't perfect. Hope you enjoyed the video!
Hi Nicole and Mico! We sent you an email a few weeks ago! Have you seen it? Looking forward to hearing from you! 💜💜
It's surprising that a scammer similar to the bracelet scammer I saw in Montmartre France exists in the middle of Seoul... 😢 It seems to be a new scammer that appeared after the tourist police were disbanded. If you see it again in Insadong you can report it to a passing police officer.
6:50 jeez.... never knew that kind of ppl exist in korea as a native korean. wow. probably cuz they only approach to non-korean
The perks of being a local!! Thankfully schemes to take advantage of tourists seem to be very rare in Korea
Y’all didn’t know Korea had Kings? 😂
Actually emperors and dynasties. It was called the Hermit Kingdom. Invaded many x. Including Japanese occupation.
Actually I am a korean. I haven't seen that kind of fraud in my life.
what a shame fake monk. i`m sorry about that. we will report him to police. that`s crime in korea
Have you seen the videos that Italians hate? Eating pasta in ketchup, pineapple pizza, etc. You did the same thing that Koreans hate when they saw it. Bibimbap. You should not have eaten it like that. You put red pepper paste in it and eat it with a spoon.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
can't believe that the staffs at the restaurant said nothing while seeing you eating bibimbop without the sauce. that's so rude and annoying much. anyone seeing it, never go to that restaurant.
They had to search for how to eat
i'm korean
I assume he is either indonesian or philpino . Leaning more to indonesian. Tell me i am wrong 😊
You are right, Mico is Filipino 😄
