    Welll...as a real-life pilot and RC enthusiast, where do I start...hmmm? Everyone watching this I'm sure will agree that this model (?!) is strikingly gorgeous, no doubt; not to mention very, very expensive too!? However, I failed to notice any flaps deployed for take-off or even available which is troubling, at best, considering, as I assume, the immense amount of work that went into building this aircraft? Next, during in-level flight the landing gear was never retracted? Maybe the gear was fixed...? We don't know, but in any event, with the gear down and at power you don't know what your Vle or Vlo speeds are so once again, this could be putting this fine aircraft at risk from either in-flight or on-landing gear failure. Lastly, even though this is an "R/C" aircraft it is an airplane nonetheless and as such proper flight techniques and procedures should be followed for safe, stable, and predictable landing approaches (i.e. landing into the prevailing wind; sink rate; speed control; etc). The "final" approach was just awful and made me cringe at the thought that a very bad outcome was about to unfold - on it's maiden flight yet!! All approaches, especially in very low aspect ratio aircraft, need to be shallow (low angle of attack) with the purpose of bleeding off speed and maintaining a controlled v-speed (sink rate) as you near the threshold. Jet's especially must be "flown down" with power on, again, necessitating a shallow landing approach. I would be surprised if this plane were in one piece today (Nov 2020) - sad to say. This pilot(?) might have built a spectacular plane but he clearly didn't plan his final landing approach, or maybe just didn't know how to react to the "speed" of plane which is understandable?! This maiden flight ended up with some damage but nothing catastrophic however it's a good lesson in before flight planning, especially when you have so much money and time invested in such a beautiful aircraft. He was lucky to escape a catastrophic crash on that landing; let's hope and pray the pilot took a good lesson from this fight and is still enjoying this beautiful war bird!! Happy skies.

      I always think that when I see these perfectly made RC planes. When they're in the air you really can't tell the difference at all from the real thing. I'd have to think that's appealing to filmmakers, especially since good CGI is so expensive.

      @TheBoone57 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jan christian Frodahi I stand corrected,perhaps hate is a factor in the 611 now 612 thumbs down. I started with Firebirds one and two then went on to Mini Max and Crazy Max and then heavier planes that required club fees and insurance. If you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education.

  • @TSWookie77

    • @reconx86
      @reconx86 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Not sure if there are civilian models with cameras, but most if not all of these hobbyists fly without camera.
      I'm a bit more puzzled by how it manages to stay up in the air, the F-16 was developed to be aerodynamically unstable. I heard it requires constant input from a on-board computer to correct the instability, especially the F-117.
      Perhaps they change the wing-surface to make it more stable for RC flight, but however they do it. it's still puzzling.

      Boulder AMR On the radio control is there an orientation bar so pilots know when they're upside down or not when outside eye shot? I've seen some vids on youtube where the guys are taking their planes so far out they look like tiny dots. Lol, the RC world is so foreign to me.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      LifeRocket7
      Nope it is all line of sight. They look like dots, but you get used to knowing how the dot moves, so you can tell if you are right side up or what orientation yup are in.
      If it isn't line of sight, it is "FPV" with goggles or a screen of some type, with a camera on aircraft transmitting back a picture to pilot.

    • @flyboy3d
      @flyboy3d 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DamnlagTV The FAA wanted to impose laws on RC planes/helicoptes but the NTSB came back and said the laws were unenforceable. Drone is the technical term for an unmanned "surveillance" and/or combat vehicle. Only when a camera is mounted to a RC plane does it technically become a "drone" and even then the term used to describe that is FPV

    I am curious as to the engine used in this. How many lbs of thrust can it produce, and what would it's rate of fuel consumption be?
    Overall, I am highly impressed. The skill at making something such as this, and have it fly so flawlessly, is astonishing.

    • @trevor5290

      Its actually 4 engines ganged together. Each engine produces about 35lbs of thrust, and each will consume about 3 liters of Kerosene in about 8min at full throttle.

      First time landing, I'm sure there's a pretty steep learning curve on how much ground effect the unit will produce.

    • @77Avadon77
      @77Avadon77 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      What? XD It's an F-16 not a Pilatus. It's going to land like a missle, not float. He basically drove the thing right into the ground. If you're new to landing a jet aircraft you should land long or make some go arounds. Better to balloon then smack the deck with any aircraft. At least if you balloon you can power up and go around and there is that kind of power in RC. Once you nail the deck hard it's over.

      77Avadon77 The problem in these though is the turbine lag. It would have taken the turbines a good 2 seconds to spool back up. I get what your saying, but I get the feeling that wasn't his first attempt at landing this. It's a beautiful craft, but it seemed unwieldy.

      On a MAIDEN FLIGHT, as the description says it is, you may not elect to check out the LG, or other non flight essential items. You really only want to make sure the plane flies and you can control it. Most of the time on a maiden flight is trimming it for perfect control. He needed more work on landings. That landing was way too fast rate of descent on the approach. By now he probably has it down pat.

      Пассажирские самолеты? Это тот случай над Украиной? Уже сколько времени экспертиза идет, а доказательств вины России нет. Американские СМИ без доказательств обвинили Россию и весь мир этому поверил, и даже никто не предположил, что это могли сделать украинские военные. Может Америке было не выгодно проводить расследование, потому что в этом могла быть виновата Украина. А на кого обычно кидают все свои косяки? Ну конечно на Россию, мы уже привыкли.

      No, not Ukraine, not the recent one. I was referring to Korean Airlines 902, and 007 more specifically but I also meant no harm because no country is innocent. But that was before the fall of the Soviet Union so I'll shut up now.

      Actually, our (dutch) media did report that it was possible that Ukraine might have done it. I am sure it was a mistake, executed by the separatists with arms provided by Russia and then hijacked by ALL media to point fingers are the guilty. That twitter post made by that separatist general after the plane was shot down was also kind of a no-brainer.
      I do believe Russia is the instigator in the conflict, just as they had no business in Krimea. Shit didn't go to hell completely until after Ukraine kicked out that sorry excuse for a president (though he had been democratically elected).

    These are NOT and i repeat NOT TOYS. Like some simple scale model Syma
    helicopter. These are "mini" versions of THE REAL DEAL and nothing less.
    One must be a pilot too know how too fly these successfully. Were
    talking thousands of dollars here for something like this plane. Plus,
    the upkeep of maintenance costs, knowing where you can fly it safely via
    FAA regulations, how high you can fly it, and also knowing about noise
    regulations. Your every bit a pilot as the real deal when operating
    these scale mini models.
