    Anyone else think the Aussie’s have their plug and connector the wrong way around. Let’s have the easy to touch male pin connector with the live going through it. Nothing could go wrong there.
    Apart from that, the track look great and love seeing the progress you’re making.

    Nice!! I think that's the same supply I did the test review showcase on my channel and ours is still working great! We run the different brand cars on different voltages for when we race and it works great! Just make sure you have the amp setting cranked all the way up for 10amps. Tracks looking sweet! 👍👍

    You could just file out some notches with a rat tail file for the cover of the Clipsal inlet plug, to keep the double insulation complete.

    1960s American slot cars, I was a kid I spent more money on that then I can count, we had the best of the best equipment ever it was a professional track in Edison New Jersey. We had nothing to do with the track just filling our own fast cars, an awful lot of fun and a good way to stay out of trouble.

      @@thatslotcarguy How many power taps have you put in the track? My track is just over 60 running feet, so we put 3 taps through the track to have consistent power.

    Use car batteries. 1 battery 350 cold cranking amps 12-13 volts . Car Battery charger . Used to run AFX HO CARS on two deep cycle batteries in series with a 24 volt charger left on . They would handle the volts excellent .

    I'm on day 4 of working out power supply and power tap issues for my 50 metre carrera track. starting from scratch again today before going to do practice at Seagulls club track.Will post photo's and video when finished. Biggest track I have built so far.

      @@thatslotcarguy maybe we should just spent 3 hours lying on back under table and fit one set of power wires to each track lane crawl out stand up turn on power and check power supply then repeat inner lane works perfect now but still have problem with outer lane. had enough going to club track to de stress for a couple of hours. then hopefully it works when I go over it for the 100 time..keep making stupid mistakes .. glad to see you fixed your issues mate. made my live difficult by having 9 power taps on 50m track as suggested by german track planner app

    • @shermaddictedtorc8540
      @shermaddictedtorc8540 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      all fixed only took 7more hours. short was at track connectors on the carrera power tap connectors that slot into the track from underneath had shorted.

    G'day cobber, I'm just getting back to slotcars, it's been about 55 years, ..... yes I'm that old. Times have changed but somethings remain the same, I was interested in seeing your wiring and saw a few red flags waving, like you I'm no expert, but have been playing with AC and DC wiring since I was a kid. Since we're only dealing with 12 DC here, no big deal, however, somethings remain the same, (1) red/brown wire = positive, black/blue wire = negative/earth, there is no 3rd wire (although I think it can be used for brakes??) (2) ALWAYS fit a fuse/circuit breaker between power supply and hand controller, don't want to fry your supply. (3) Why does everyone use the male recessed plug socket as their power outlet, it provides a chance of short circuit should power be left on and a metal object happen to touch the pins, although that's where the fuse comes into play, back in the '60s it was always the female socket fixed and the male attached to the controller, much safer. I like the use of 3 core flex wire, with the insulation capable of handling 240v and 10a it should be overkill for 12v 10a. Now I need to find some space in our new place to put a large routed track into, 3 garages and no space. Keep up the good work.

      I also question why we use what we use lol

    • @johnd8892
      @johnd8892 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      A male plug on the controller could have a young kid plug it into a power socket at 240 volts. Much more dangerous than any unlikely short for the 12 volt out of the track drivers station. Never seen that happen in the last 27 years of home and commercial tracks using that as the standard set up. Never saw the reverse system used, but hard to remember what the commercial tracks I rented already plugged in controllers used 58 years ago in the slot car boom and bust period.
      I think circuit breakers are used on that power supply. Agree some sort of high current protection is needed, not just to protect the power supply but more importantly to stop wiring heating up and causing a fire if a short happens with the power supply set to supply the full 10 amps it can do.
