The fantastic David Collings, a plethora of U.K. Sci Fi and supernatural roles throughout his career bless him. As someone who grew up with Sapphire and Steel scaring the plop plops out of me, I am really enjoying my Mondays at the moment, thank you :)
I'm glad that you've met, Silver, Alexa. I love that all the 'Elements' are so different from each other, not just how they look but in personality too.
Hi Alexa I hope you are enjoying this awesome series and also having Silver in it is awesome too the actor David Collings is awesome in this role and he was in classic Dr Who three times twice with Tom Baker and once with Peter Davison and also he was Deva in Blakes 7 the finale called Blake and he cropped up frequently on tv.
Welcome Sliver, in the first assignment we had Lead played by Mr Val Pringle and now Sliver played the wonderful Mr David Collings, and you can easily imagine they really are the elements. Mr Pringle was heavy set and powerful, Mr Collings is quick and inquisitive.
Steel and Silver literally end up in the closet together at one point. Although other assignments are superior, this is the one I watch over and over. I just love the whole thing but Silver interacting with Steel and later Sapphire is the peak of fun.
Alexa, you’ll also know David Collings from his Dr Who work. Two appearances alongside Tom Baker come to mind, although he was hidden under layers of make-up and in the first story, prosthetics.
I've never been entirely convinced of Silver's reason for turning up so unexpectedly. In the last story, S&S solvce the assignment by creatiung a resentment against time, and lo and behold, here comes Silver, as if to keep an eye on them. (This is no spoiler by the way, just a musing!)
David Collings is also my favourite Legolas, in the BBC Radio version of LOTR, which I recall binge-listening to purge my brain of Jackson Hobbit trilogy... On the subject of UFO, if one TH-cams the 1968 version of "A Study in Scarlet" one has the option to see Ed Bishop playing a Sherlock Holmes villain, though Holmes and Watson are cast far too old considering it's their first canon story (Virginia Lake's lad was indeed closer to the mark). "That's why they don't matter any more?" "That's right." Utterly grim and downbeat, and from such a usually upbeat character. P J Hammond certainly had a thing for nightmare fuel...
You may remember David Collings playing Blake's mate Deva in the final episode of Blake's 7. I've always thought the he'd have made a great Dr Who, based on his performance as Silver, but unfortunately he's no longer with us. He actually had some decent form in the SF field, having also appeared with both Tom Baker and Peter Davison in Dr Who. Silver's a fun guy, easily my favourite supporting character in S&S. It's definitley Silver and Sapphire though. ;-)
That 'Changeling' adult child 'accelerated' grow by time unit, when touching objects they cease to exist or send them to another time(future or past)? Probably, because he's real not there as an adult instead child himself? Hardly understood anything as 12 year kid much, when aired. 🤔
Silver is one of the best characters in the series, and brilliantly acted. Although I found that little musical cue that they play almost every time he does anything soon became quite irritating!

Yes one thing about S&S is that it was throughly original and mysterious, as a kid it made an indelible impression on me.

Great episode 😊
My Skystriker! My glory!
Hi Alexa, you may recognise David Collings, you probably last saw him as the first Pyschobomb to explode in that episode of UFO.
Indeed, thus mentioning that in the video and including a clip in it from that episode.
@@alexachipman Did you ever see the late 70's Japanese show Monkey?. He dubbed the monkey king voice.
Yay! Silver's here! Glad nobody ruined it for you.
Hi Alexa! If you're impressed by Steel's MacGuyvering... say hello to Silver.
I've never been entirely convinced of Silver's reason for turning up so unexpectedly. In the last story, S&S solvce the assignment by creatiung a resentment against time, and lo and behold, here comes Silver, as if to keep an eye on them. (This is no spoiler by the way, just a musing!)

My favourite character from S & S is here at last, Monkey-ing around...
I see what you did there! :)

This assignment would go over most kid’s heads, I think! I know I would have been confused at that age.
Found this series by accident, should've made more episodes, David in the Man from U.N.C.L.E., the 60's and 70's.
I am thinking of reacting to that one later!
this is the one episode that freaks me out but its great
