I slept in a cheap polyester 2 person tent ⛺️ in the Australian Alps late spring, during a torrential downpour. Surprisingly the tent proved to be waterproof. My GF and I slept on a pump up airbed, with plenty of blankets, etc. We had a wonderful night’s sleep but the back up plan was to retreat to the car 🚙 if things got real bad. The radio 📻 reception was phenomenal up that high, too.

It certainly got a little testing at times, but by the time I got a fire going and had a decent supper, it felt great just laying back and listening to the patter of rain all around me.
It’s peak enjoyment when I manage to catch my own food and have a cook up in camp ☺️ Doesn’t always work out, so a steak is not the worst back up plan, but I’d much rather catch something if possible 🙏🏼☺️

I just found your channel nice work , i've fallowed TA outdoors and Bushcraft tools and they stray a little away from the bushcraft side though they are good at what they do but your show me alot in just do what you did for this vid God bless you and yours
You should always carry a small pocket mirror. When it's been raining for days, the water is running down the back of your neck, you find that your ruck leaked and your spare clothes and sleeping bag are wet and your left boot has sprung a leak, you take the mirror out, look into it and say to yourself..."best day ever"....heh heh .... Is this your own land or do you have a small still water stocked with rainbow trout that you're allowed to fish right next to woodland that you're permitted to wild camp and build fires in?

As much as I miss it, i make peace with the reality by reminding myself that I sure am thankful I was able to have those chapters in the first place ☺️🙏🏼

That’s fair, you can relax more that way. I was really lucky as through my main channel I’ve met lots of wealthy people (of which I’m not one, ha ha) who’ve let me use their land in some truly remarkable places, especially down in the west county ☺️🙏🏼 Although access to much of it came off of the back of publicly living on a sailing boat, go figure? It’s certainly been a really interesting few years regardless. Lots more adventures to come, on land and in the sea ☺️🙏🏼
Winter is aproaching and I'm sure you will want to try hot tenting next :) put a twig through your ridge line like a marlin spike then you won't need to feed the end of the line through and it's quick release.
That's a great tip. I'm so used to making everything fast on a boat that those habits are clearly spilling into life everywhere 🤣 I do like the idea of a hit tent up in the highlands this winter perhaps? 🧐

I actually love the sound of rain when I'm dry and warm inside a tent especially overnight if I know it's going to be nice the next day.
Same. By the time I got the fire going and into my dry clothes, the sound of rain sent me off into the deepest of sleeps ☺️🙏🏻
