- I know you guys love a bargain and I’ve been accused of only showcasing expensive gear in the past, so my mate came up with a plan. I give him my credit card and he buys super-budget EDC Items from Wish.com. Now I’m seeing them for the first time…This WON’T end well.

Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.

I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! - so my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live, until the next video goes live a week later. As a Canadian, I must say, do it again. But let him have more budget. I will actually be looking into the selection of pouches on wish, specifically for camping/outdoors and travel because of this. I "Wish" I knew what else Jon's credit card can do to enlighten me lol

For the people that like the photo of the micro screwdriver set. It's called the "Xiaomi YDE-03702 Mijia Wiha Multi Tool 24 Precision Screwdriver Heads Anti-slip Alloy"
And it is not expensive and VERY GOOD. To give an idea, the lpl, lockpick lawyer uses it. Just don't get it on wish 🤣

I've had the tech bag for years. It's attached to my backpack. It was perfect when I was a computer tech. Mine is well built and sturdy.
I have to say as someone who designed a product that has knock offs on Wish and all over, I appreciate that you wouldn’t want to use a knock off.
You're right - I have a strong aversion to knock offs as I've seen so much of it over the years is my past life
This was great fun and I'd love to see something similar again. I loved the hilarious exchanges between the two of you; but, I wouldn't want to put you through another go with Wish. "I wouldn't give this to a friend." And then you gave it to him. LOL I was laughing so hard. That green bag with mollie looks like my chest rig that i got for $34. But mine comes with extra compartment and chest straps. It is a good product. I think you should do an occasional WISH video just to either warn people or compare it to the original. And sometimes to show off a really good deal and good product. Maybe make a "Budget Monday" video. LOL
I'm not big in carrying much but I love reviews in the stuff. More of a fantasy for me. I find I trust you just by your demeanor and voice. I do like that you know the buisness of stuff and give solid advice and opinions.

Thanks for a great video. After watching this I jumped on to Wish to have a look. I ordered a Rovyvon style keyring torch on 29 June for a total cost of £8.87 inc P&P. It arrived today and I rewatched your video to understand all the different modes. I usually EDC a 2x AAA penlight, so looking forward to trying this form factor. Planning to pickup a proper Rovyvon if I like it. Thanks again.

I bought 3 of the pens from Ali and am quite happy with them. They're fairly fat and full sized pens that take a G2 cartridge. Obviously they're not the same as a high quality tactical pen and are lighter, but I can take these anywhere and not worry about it getting lost. I've also ordered the torch which is yet to arrive.

your karabiner multi tool is a copy of the true utility "Fixr" tool, it gets a surprising amount of use for opening boxes, the blade is meant to be used in conjuntion with a notch on the gold screwdriver portion as a wire stripper.
I'm not the only one that would like to see more gear from wish before I buy it. please get more so I will know if I should get it.

Mostly tat as you would expect, but i've been carrying that Rovyvon A8x "homage" torch for quite some time now, and for price/function, it really is a bargain, I bought mine from ebay and have since gifted several to family and friends. At about £10 a go, they are great vfm compared to the equivalent Rovyvon. I've also tried that carabiner tool from ebay as well, it's not bad as a back-up, and is again an "homage" to a True Utility FIXR. The bags and pouches are ok actually. Maybe you should do a real budget EDC equivalents video, but go for better brands or ask for recommendations? Heinnie Haynes and True Utility are a good place to start, but I would avoid Wish always!

I have been buying from Wish for several years now,clothes,watches,torches,power packs,household goods,bracelets,rings,many different items,and am altogether very pleased. A few weeks ago a record player I ordered did let me down when the arm fell apart the next day,but Wish gave me the choice of refund or credit. No hassle at all. I have just ordered a new wallet today. I certainly would not pay the exhorbitant prices charged everywhere else,especially in my local shops. Good, entertaining video!

The screwdriver set, had the correct one arrived, is actually quite decent. It looks similar to the one I have, which is good. That probably would have been the star item.

@@JonGadget The original Xiaomi/Wiha set for about £15 are absolutely excellent value for money. I have had my set for about 5 years and use it several times a week. I've never damaged a single bit in that time.
Well this is a fun content. One thing I remember other EDC channel doing is what can you get EDC wise at a dollar store. Don't know if you have similar stores there but it would be interesting to see if you have.
I have a different version of the tech pouch that I use for work. It's decent, and I've been using it for about 5 years. I have a bunch of stuff that I carry in it, so it works effectively for the use-case. There are varying qualities of them.

As I live in Israel and many companies don't ship here, or ship at a very high price (30$ and up) - and not to mention our terrible customs and postal services - I do buy quite a lot of Chinese EDC gear for one reason: To check out the gear.
I don't buy from Wish, though. I buy from AliExpress, where costumer service is good and it shows reviews and pictures uploaded by people who really bought the products. It is also generally cheaper than Wish, for the same products even.
For example I bought that exact knock-off key organizer. I hated it. Saved myself quite a bit of money. Found a different organizing solution btw.
I feel most EDCers wouldn't want more episodes of this, as they are very passionate about supporting the rightful owners of the designs. Personally, though, I would really like another one!
@@ELaster1 I have only used Fruggo once so I can't really recommend them - I got onto them by Googling for a place to buy a Victorinox Midnite Manager at a cheaper price than on Amazon

I had that tactical pen. It fell apart in two months use as a writing pen. You will notice as well it fails as a tactical pen as it is sharp on both ends. You can't put your thumb on one end and deliver any force as a weapon.

Mind you some of the stuff was not that bad but you are correct in some ways, you buy cheap you get cheap material. I pretty much think the same way you do, I go for quality first even it cost a lot more money...but hey good try Jaimie!

Liked the video Jon, and shows why I don’t buy from Wish, never direct from PRC, and why I always check where made and avoid Made in China. That said, I found Ravpower items to be of better quality, and even some respected household names have their items made in the PRC.

Funny that I actually have this "tactical pouch" for years. I have NO recollection when I've gotten it or from where. I actually got it to be able to work on convention/consumer events in the video game industry, when I was required to be on my feet all day and handle a ton of various situation, and stay mobile (no overloaded pockets/bags...). This pouch saved me countless times over Gamescom and Paris Games Weeks xD Back then, I had no idea I was doing some EDC. Nowadays I still have it around and use it as a backup when I need to carry my EDC around in a different bag and I don't want to lose all my gears around.
I enjoy your regular videos, but please occasionally do more like this.

Those pouches are good for a two or threes uses. After that, they fall apart. You get what you pay for. Maxpedition make great pouches. I bought the micro bit set but actually got Wiha bits in the picture shown.
I got the pen and wallet, cheap just for work, they sell some really questionable items, great video guys
I would like to see more wish gear. A video on things from wish that are decent would be nice.
