I have a wide foot, 9.5 US, and mostly, I'am a left foot dragger Up next, my experience with Asics Gel Resolution 9 (GR9) vs Adidas Barricade 13 (B13) I bought them both on clay version and with special sale: GR9 for 130 USD in 2023, and B13 for 107 USD in 2024. First was the GR9. As said in the video, you'll feel good grip on clay courts and even better on hard ones, so to do slides were really difficult, at least for me. Its outsole is what last the most, barely unnoticable scratches. Its ortholite insole was the first one to show signs of wearing. After around 6 months of use, I could notice some "cuts" or openings between the union of the outsole and its TPU side covers (near big toe). I guess its because my feet were pretty snugged in them. About the B13, I recently get them. Feels great support and nice grip on clays too. They are farely wide so I expect no "cuts" in the future. Between both shoes, I feel B13 heats but lower on the inside. I supose because there's more room for ventilation. Cheers
I use Nike Vapor Pro 2 on very bad maintained clay court. I’m sliding and slipping around so much. No predictability and stability whatsoever. I’m like on ice in them. I would avoid them by any cost if you don’t have 10/10 clay.
I wish there were more shoes available to test out on the clay- unfortunately and you can see in the view count of the video- nobody and no companies seems to be interested
@@FootDoctorZach I totally get it. And I’m very very thankful for what you do for the tennis community. You’re by far the most credible person in the field
I've been playing them for a good year now and they have several rips in the upper. Mind you I don't even play that often. The quality of those shoes are trash. On top of that many players I've seen have the exact same problems as I do with Nike. 120$+ for a shoe that only survives one season is not okay for me tbh.
Thanks might checkout the Eclipsions. Hay have you reviewed the Adidas Court Jam Control 3's? I have a pair of old Adidas Court Jam Bounce I just rediscovered, these look a little more comfortable in heel perhaps? I used to love the Sole courts, they had to switch to KSwiss Ultrashot 3's. Adidas just seem to fit my high arch better
Just ordered eclipsion 4 clay on huge discount. Got for 70 usd only. Hope the eclipsion 4 to be as good as 5! I play on not so well maintained clay and on artificial grass also sometimes. These looked like the best choice for me. Can't wait to try them out. Yonex was never on my list. Then i found this channel while research on tennis shoes. Saw some videos on Yonex tennis shoes and then made my decision.
Yep, I did the same thing a couple of months ago. Got the mandarin color for only $70 on sale. Was playing on the red clay down in South America in August and the shoes held up really well. Sliding was a little bit harder to do initially, but I got the hang of it after the first day of playing. Hbu?
We’ve got mainly clay courts in Belgium, so this list is very useful. However, I am coming back from an Achilles tendon rupture. Any recommendations which shoe to use to minimise rerupture risk? (Like others mentioned, the mizunos that get recommended in other videos are easily obtained in cc editions here)
@ Zach…. I know this is a top 5 clay video, but I’d love to see an updated comparison (when you get your hands on them) the new Adidas SoleMatch Control 2 that’s releasing this month! I loved the first SoleMatch Control (pink/green/black/white) and those uppers and side wall are 10/10 my favorite especially at the 4.0 & 4.5 NTRP level (was high 6’s UTR), and being someone that slides a bunch, those were the best. However, the bottom outsole DID NOT LAST! Went through 2 pairs and decided to go with Nike Vapor Pro 2’s. It’ll be interesting to see how the SoleMatch Control 2’s differ from the first. Great video btw! 👏🏼 I personally haven’t used “clay” shoes even when I play at Horseshoe Bay Resort on clay courts, lol there’s just not enough clay courts out here to buy those shoes
I’m about to buy a new shoes. My old one is a Mizuno wave enforce tour clay. I’m in love with the the Mizuno, but in terms of now, which shoes is the best one in the 2024 scenario?
I’ll be making another top 5 soon but if you can get the enforce tour clay then I don’t know if you do any better except the eclipsion 5 clay at this point
No love for the Lotto Raptors? Clay courter and on my 5th pair. I was looking for an alternative just for having a different type of shoe. I use custom orthotics with a high arch for my flat feet so its quite bulky and the only shoe I've found which fits well is the Raptors but would like to know if theres others worth giving a try specially if they weight a bit less.
Hello, I live in Turkey and shoes are expensive here. I work as a waitress and stand for about 10 to 13 hours a day. Are there any shoes you can recommend me?
Just ok - my favorite part of the SSFF3 was the hardcourt tread and without it they’re just ok vs the GR9 which to me was tough enough all together to throw around on dirt
When I get around to it- tennis players really haven’t been watching the videos so I have to make sure the channel stays healthy so I can only do so many tennis videos at a time mixed with basketball and running which are the shoes that actually grow and make the channel sustainable
It’s sad how hard it is to get most shoes nowadays- I can get any basketball shoe I want in a matter of days yet tennis you have to have some magic key, be at the right GPS coordinate and wear the correct color socks to be considered to buy a shoe- no wonder the shoe culture in tennis is dead

Play on clay with the eclipsion 5. Played on pretty damp clay this week and in fact it does not stick to the shoes, it’s pretty awesome

Friends, I bought Adidas Runfalcon 3.0 because everything was so expensive
Do you think the Diadora B.Icon 2 is a close contendor for the list or is it very far away from it?
They’re good
How does the ASICS Solution Speed Clay compare to the ASICS Gel Resolution Clay? Any good?

Can you review some SPO bball shoes? Namely, the player 1 plus?
Does anyone think the yonex sole is almost a carbon copy of the old Adidas feathers like around 2008-09
Any of these work well with custom orthotics?

Is the gel res9 or Yonex wider foot friendly???
Pretty similar
