you have very valid and thoughtful criticisms of this book! I think I enjoyed it too much to see some of these ahah but you got me to have a more balanced view of it.
Thank you. It's so refreshing to see an honest, impartial review. For me the book was average, so agreeable at 5 stars. Although I too have to be honest and say that the authors behaviour, especially online and in interviews has left me thoroughly turned off his works. Also, rightly or wrongly, I compare every vampire novel to the Vampire Chronicles and using that as a yard stick no others have come close for me. Great video though, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I can understand how an author's behaviour can influence some people's view of their works, but I tend to be able to separate the author from the works. I don't think there's anything wrong with comparing books to a favourite. It's natural. 😊
I’ve read a few jay kristoff books and I still can’t decide whether I like his writing style or not. Nevernight and empire of the vampire are very similar and I had the same problem you had - it was very ya dialogue in places which didn’t seem to gel with the rest of the story. Im still not sure whether I liked it or not
Hi, I love a good Vampire story, but unfortunately I don't like this book, like you, the dialogue pulled me out of the story and I found the ridiculousness of the swearing extremely irritating. The concept of the story is very interesting and the book could have been great.....written by someone else!
Hi Alison! I have a friend who also loves Vampire stories and she didn't like it either. I think I might try the next book as I did like Kristoff's writing. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Liliana. I too enjoyed it overall, but even great books aren't perfect.

It reminds of The movie Daybreakers and 30 days of night I have ordered it the us edition
I like both those films, but the book differs in that it is set in medieval times.

I don't think I'll read Nevernight as I know it's geared towards YA. I think if the dialogue was more adult it would be more enjoyable.
@@NerdyKathi i thought it was YA too, at times it was very adult but the characters read like they were young. I was very confused 😁
