I cannot believe they release so many bad recordings (a few spring to mind!) and nobody can get hold of exceptional production like these. I challenge any tenor to sing like Rocky here!!!
E' la mia versione preferita di Armida. C'è tutta l'opera su TH-cam con la fantastica June Anderson e questi tenori eccezionali, tra cui primeggia Rocky, per me il miglior Rinaldo (peccato solo che si veda un po' male). ❤😊
Marvelous tercetto!!!, all them are wonderful!!!. I can only thank you for uploading this lyrical jewel, a master class for all us perfroming tenors, BRAVO!!!!
I would honestly stop comparing Rocky to Juan Diego. Their voices are very different one another, but they sing pretty much the same repertory. Rocky is an amazing heroic coloratura tenor, Juan Diego a charming latin light voice. And for this they are equally amazing, then one may choose one or the other according to his/her taste. I personally choose both of them :)
None of them (especially not Carreras and Domingo) were capable of singing this kind of music, and especially not so late in their careers. Rossini tenor arias are often very technically challenging, with tons of high notes, rapid coloratura, and high tessitura, and this is no exception. Also, this isn't a well known piece, and the three tenors preferred to sing more popular songs at their concerts.
@@samkibler5326 Carreras did some Rossini (like Otello for example) and was more lyrical so he could've managed it I think. Definitely true about the last part. Shame too, would've made it more well known
Very simple: they were not able to sing the terzetto in a quite decent way. In fect, I don't think Rossini was so often performed in their concerts at all!

Maravilloso. Blake perfecto, sublime!
Wow, even better than the recorded version on "Encore: Rossini". What a stud.
"...ma un raggio improvviso quest'alma rischiara, ah sì ti ravviso celeste bontà!"
Sublime Rocky.
Third tenor is Yoshihisa Yamaji: I was in the audience (Aix-en-Provence, july 1988).
Sensacional. Gracias Rossini.

Why did the original three tenors (Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras) never sing this terzetto, instead of them singing arias in unison?
