One of Kenneth Downie's best Salvation Army pieces. I agree, a more sympathetic rendition is required to make the words come alive.! I have played this many times with my SA band. It never fails to bless me.
ah, I see. You sound as though you were part of the group, or at least there in person. I of course have no reason to argue with you. Thanks for setting me straight.

This is a contest band not a corps band so why expect the words to hold deep meaning? I thought it was fine just the way it was.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee."
Isaiah 26:3
Amen!
Wonderful!
Beautiful !
Ken Downie has the knack for making the music enunciate the words.
beautiful.☺
Played this last Sunday
If u don’t mind me asking, what band are you in? I played this with Govan SA YEARS ago while still a good SA band and always gets to me ...
beautiful chorus setting
O for the love of Jesus amen.
That Downie chord three from the end is sheer magic. A more sympathetic rendering would be helpful here, Cory just play the whole wonderful piece.
Can a band purchase this piece from the Salvation Army? Is this also in solo form for Euphonium with piano?
Wheres The Timpani, Ken wrote a great sympathetic part.
I was thinking the same thing. I love playing the timp part to this...

ok, I thought David was the younger one. I don't know either of them personally.
Am I wrong? I believe this is Robert Childs conducting.
