If you are curious about why there is some subtitle and some not, because Novia is singing in many different "local languages". It is like a compilation of many traditional song from each region of Indonesia, and the song is uses each of the local languages. If you are aware, you might also notice that Novi is always changing clothes as the song is changing. That means Novi is using the traditional clothes of each region of the song. So, as the song changing in languages, the clothes are also changes.
Indonesia has more than 300 ethno linguistics group, and each ethnic have more than 1 languages, so that make in result that Indonesia has more than 700 local languages, that's why Alffy didn't put subtitle when it comes to traditional song. Because as an Indonesians, we don't even know and speak all of that thousand of languages, but one thing for sure we are share the united language called "Bahasa Indonesia", which means Indonesian language. So if we go all over Indonesia, as long as we can speak Bahasa fluently, we can comunicate to each other. As for foreigner, just have to speak little Bahasa, and English fluently, I think is enough to travel around Indonesia. Because we also can speak English, even though not everybody is fluent in English, that's why if foreigner can speak little Bahasa is necessary to help it.

The dragon we see at the end is a dragon named Antaboga, a dragon which is a legend from the islands of Java and Bali, also called the dragon guardian of the underworld or the bowels of the earth. The dragon should only be shaped like a giant snake, but Alfy Rev combined it with the figure of the mighty Garuda bird that has wings and legs as guardians of the world above. And Garuda is also the symbol of the Indonesian state

I was happy you pronounce novia name correctly, she's a singer from indonesian idol competition
In the "making of" videos they explain that the choir singers cried because they were so overwhelmed with pride and emotion just from taking part in this. They loved it so much that when the camera started rolling so did the tears. They had to do more takes after taking a break because several of the ladies (including Novia) were so overcome and sobbing on the ground. I cried just watching that part of the documentary.
They truly love their country because they love their people, not because of politics or rivalry.
The best way i could describe Indonesian patriotism is "if you show any of us love we will all love you for it and if you oppress even our smallest group you will have to face all of us as well." We are all in this together!

Just a recommendation for you. Eva Cassidy is the singer. A few songs; Autumn 2:50 Leaves, Fields of Gold, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, or any songs she did at the Blue Note Cafe. Her performances at the Blue Note were performed in January 1996, eleven months before her death to melanoma. Her fame has come since her death. Unfortunately far too few have been able to hear her live. Her unique sound, method of delivery have a tremendous impact on the listener.

In case you'd like to understand what this video about, here are some details:
MOST PEOPLE WERE ASKING:
ARE THOSE FLOATING ISLANDS REALLY EXIST?
Of course no. What this video trying to tell is that we have plenty of unique historical sites spread over many different islands from west to the eastern part of the country.
Of course they're not floating in real except Pura Ulun Danu, Bali which situated on the lake.
Those floating buildings are; Rumah Gadang (Sumatera), Rumah Tongkonan (Tana Toraja), Borobudur Buddhist temple (Magelang), and Pura Ulun Danu (Bali). If I'm not mistaken, the Goddess statue where the singer starts her singing is at Royal Pitamaha, Ubud, Bali.
Again, All of the buildings and nature sceneries are real but yes, CGI effects applied to make it looks more cinematic.
WHAT ARE THOSE HEADPIECES SHE WORE?
Those headpieces (crowns) she wore called TIARA for females or MAHKOTA for males. In the past you must wear those kind of headpieces to identify yourself as a royal family member. Both Tiara and Mahkota are normally made of gold or silver with diamond installed in the middle of it. Every diamond placed in a Tiara or Mahkota can't be just a diamond. It has to be one with magical power.
Headpiece is one the most important outfits for almost every ethnic group in Indonesia. Even more important than shirts. In my original tribe and many others, we don't wear shirt for males, We usually wear 3 pieces of sarong (a loose cloth) to cover our waist up to the knee (No shirts on) and of course a headpiece. In my own tradition (Sasak in Lombok) headpiece isn't just an accessory. It is actually more as a symbol that you appreciate your head as the most important part of your body and to prove that you are responsible to protect it even from the heat.
Headpiece is the very first thing you wear when you're born. Your parent will have it made for you a month before you even born.
Nowadays, anyone can wear those kind of royal headpieces during their wedding ceremony and many other special occasions.
Traditional costumes worn in the video:
1. From the ethnic group (Tribe) of Dayak in Kalimantan called Ta'a (for females) Sapei Sapaq (for males). Their headpieces are made of Hornbill feathers. This is just one of the many traditional costumes belong to the Dayak tribe.
2. I think is from the Kohongian tribe in Sulawesi Utara. This just one of the many of them in Sulawesi Utara.
3. Based on the headpiece she wore, I think it is from the Asmat tribe called Sali made of bark and decorated with cassowary and bird of paradise feathers. Again, there are so many other traditional costumes in Papua.
4. Kebaya Labuh from the province of Riau.
5. Limpapeh Rumah Nan Gadang from the province of West Sumatera.
6. Payas Agung, Bali.
7. Kebaya Brokat from West Java.
8. Bula Molik (Crescent) made of silver and Gold, NTT.
WHAT ARE THEY SINGING?
(Please refer to the traditional outfits as well because the songs and outfits represent the region where they originated)
This video showcases 9 traditional folk songs from 9 ethnic groups out of 879 ethnic group with 1430 tribes existed in Indonesia. The main song is Bagimu Negeri - One of our national songs.
NOTE: As an Indonesian, there is no way you not gonna cry when singing or listening to that song. It is our oaths to the mother land. Our promises to the nation. And as the answer to the prayers of our parent which Alffy described perfectly through that young mother singing lullaby to her newly born son. A lullaby can't only be just a nice song to bring you to sleep, it consists a prayer, wishes and hopes of our parent to see us grow as someone useful to the nation. Nothing can make them happier than that.

WHAT IS THAT TRADITIONAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENT HE'S PLAYING?

WHO DID THE SPEECH AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
It was the original proclamation speech done by our first president Soekarno.
WHAT IS THE SYMBOL THAT AWAKEN THE DRAGON?
It is called Surya Majapahit or known as Dewata Nawa Sanga - The 9 Gods that protect the universe from 9 different dimension compass wise.
WHAT ARE THOSE CREATURES?
The creatures you see at the end of the video are GARUDA and a Dragon known as ANTABOGA from the mythology of the ancient Majapahit kingdom . Antaboga is believed to be the guardian of the underearth dimension. That's why you will find it featured in many of our traditional carvings, crafts, and even in our architectural designs. Meanwhile, Garuda is the main symbol of our country (You can't really showcase it for commercial purposes because It's protected by law). Garuda itself is a huge gigantic bird that can only be found in Indonesia. And is believed by the Hindu as the main vehicle of God Vishnu.

I am a chinese descendant who was born in Indonesia and raised in Indonesia, Singapore, Canada and now China.
I used to struggle a lot with my identity for the longest time. I always felt like an outsider in whichever countries that i lived in throughout my life.
Only recently that I realized that i don't need to put myself into any box because i am what i am now is because of my colors, some part of me is indonesia, some part of me is chinese, some part of me singaporean, some parts of me is canadian, and some parts of me is all the experiences and inspiration that I gathered from people and things around the world.
Once I accepted and acknowledged all of my colors, I don't feel the need to try to put myself into a box or identify myself with any particular thing.
As long as i am still alive, i am just a human being who live on this planet called earth 🌎
I think balance, observation and acknowledgement is needed for all things to avoid getting too attach or too detach on things.
History is a great tools for learning. We can enhance the good thing that comes from history and reflect and adjust the mistakes that happened in the past, so that we can create a better world for the future generations to come....
When i first listen to this video, i got quite emotional because i feel like for the first time in my life, there is a song that represent me with all my colors. The combination of indonesia traditional songs, edm, rock, ballad, etc... put into one in a such enchanting and beautiful way, just like a rainbow 🌈.
I just found your channel and I love that you put in the psychological aspect of it in music, because I do that too when I listen to music or watch movies or just when I observe myself on my daily experiences.

If you watch the BTS in Alffy's channel, they explain why the choir singers cried during that song. Those are genuine tears, and they did not script that but decided to include it.
Indonesia has faced quite a lot of separatism since the 90s. During COVID we were all reminded how no matter what skin color you are or what tribe you're from, we're all vulnerable. Our loved ones are vulnerable. And we must unite to fight the virus and protect our loved ones - just like we united to fight the colonialists and gain independence.
So this song reminds us of just that.
In the chapter 2, Alffy did even better. He and his partner included singers of other ethnicities and religions as well as Novia Bachmid, who is a muslim and of malay ethnicity, which comprises of the majority in Indonesia. In chapter 2, they include singers from ethnic and religious minorities.
