In my early farming years, before cabs were popular, we had similar canvas wrap around enclosures on our tractors that picked up the heat of the diesel engine, (along with some of the fumes) to keep us from freezing while plowing in the winter. They were better than nothing, but like your side by side enclosure, they left a lot to be desired. I've often wondered why anyone would prefer these designs over a tiny 4x4 army jeep. From my perspective, Willys had these perfected long before a side by side came along.
Also, you asked for suggestions about your off grid property. I would be interested in watching you make some of the property commercially viable in a way that would demonstrate the land's productivity.
Gina, You must cut your pieces smaller so that you do not break off the hinges on the chopper, like I did. You are using way too much force when you push down. Cut them thinner and also small enough so that the vegetable is staying within the metal plates. I ended up having to buy a second one because I broke a hinge off. Now that I know better, it works very good. Hope this helps you to learn from my mistake. Have a great day
Now you just need a heater. That’s probably what is on order. We used to have a canvas and clear plastic cover for the golf cart and had a little heater that was great!
Tip.... don't run your strap over the topside of your railing on the trailer, in time you will bend your railing, install D-rings on the floor of trailer at 2ft spacing this will give you multiple anchor points along the floor of the trailer. Chain saw anchor, have a buddy build one out of metal who has a welder if you know anyone for your mule, much cheaper than buying one also, have something extra made in order to store your gas can, oil and chain saw tool & spare chain (or you can just have someone build a compartment to hold the chain saw box... (bonus**** you can have the chain saw stuff made the way YOU want it)... Be CAREFUL with those soft side doors, any branch you drive past and touch the door can puncture hole right thru the plastic windows during the winter, that plastic becomes very brittle under cold temperatures, I had to install solid acrylic in my john deere soft side cab doors because over time mine got damaged from various things rubbing against windows
Hi, Al. Just wanted to say thank you for providing the link to your favorite tools. I'm a beginning woodworker and this helps me so much. There are so many tools on the market it's hard to know what's best, but I trust you to know. My first project will be to build a workbench. I'll be going back to watch your videos of when you built yours. I've learned a lot from watching you build stuff. You're a great teacher. Happy holidays!
Howdy from west Texas! The mule is going to be pretty warm when you get all the bits and pieces. Between the mule, the fire and the new outhouse/storage building, y’all will be able to stay relatively comfortable when y’all are out there.
So do we in the UK (have dual calibration tapes !). In reality we have to use both because our houses pre 65 ( call it 70 ! ) were built to the imperial inch and you will end up in a buggers muddle if you do not take this into account !
Great video. You are really accessorizing that Mule. I don’t know if it came with any kind of heater, but if it didn’t you should check out what’s available. The doors and windows will help but it will still be cold inside and your breath alone will fog up the windows. With those doors and windows and some kind of heat the girls and you will have a blast exploring every thing you can find on your new land. As I mentioned before, great video, I’ll be looking for the next one. Have a safe and happy holiday. And remember “You can never have too much fun”
US. Is one of the only countries to not use metric. Even England has switched to a lot of metric. Makes trade on the world market easier for all companies to have the same standard.
Heck ., US cannot even have election without large scale fraud . Even Robert Mugabe the dictator never did the kind of large scale fraud to help corrupt losers win. just like china and venezuela. Bah !
Sam Val That’s because very little in US cars is made in the US. They predominantly assemble parts from other countries and label it “Made in America”.
You do realize that almost all countries in the world, including the one that manufactures the mule, uses metric. The US is pretty much on its own with imperial.
Yup. We tried back in the '70s, but there was too much public outcry. We should have stuck to it. But they didn't, so we kept on with a system that very few use any more. One day... one day... 😎
@R Brown Where did they originally get feet and inches from. Same place as pints, gallons, quarts etc. .?. Or is it an American invention ?. Why call it Imperial ?. Just wondering .
You do realize that out of all the countries in the world that use communist, none have put a man on the moon. But the one that uses freedom units, well, we've been there multiple times. Coincidence? I think not.
The trick on the chopper of course to cut onions etc into slices about as thick as your thumb or less so it pushes thru the stainless steel cutting grid easier and the smaller the cubes it makes the more pressure it takes to cut. Cutting what your going to put thinner makes it a breeze to cube and the closer to where it hinges the better it cuts and veggies like tomatoes don't work as well since they begin to get crushed first but nice thin slices tend to go thru better as well as using it's larger grid when you do. Another fun video though I hope you'll either buy or be sent a Titan Peeler brand tool to go along with your kitchen utensils and its similar to the one Gina was sent but it has a handle which is easier to use plus it peels so beautifully that you can make potatoe chips with a single pass for frying.
Hey Al, please tell Gina she is supposed to whack the chopper with her hand. Hold the hinge at the back so it won't crack It or Break It and then take her other hand and slap the top of the wizard with her hand or fist. I was also thinking of pool noodles or the pipe insulation for the air gaps on the mule . But it really looks great . Take care stay safe and God bless y'all.
OUT-STANDING! Best investment for the side-by-side you could make. Is the cab heated? Experimentation will tell whether you need more sealing of the cab, but the ventilation around the (new) rear window might make it comfortable inside. Body heat will amaze you - how much warmth the three of you generate. That ventilation could well prevent fogging of the windshield and side curtains.
Hi Gina, I love using the gizmo for chopping up tomatoes and cucumbers for Israeli salad. 😋 yummy. I close it very fast, and that makes it work better. Doing it slow gives more resistance, and sloppy tomatoes. Nice square chunks are great. Potatoe hashbrowns are great using the gizmo also. Perfect thickness and size for nice morning breakfast. Now I'm hungry. Going to cook. Hee, Hee. G-D Bless
you can attach a bar protector bore holes in one side use caridge bolts by spreading the bar protector out and attactching pipe type clamps to the bolts the attach the clamps to the pipe frame and use it as a scabbard to hold your saw uppright like a knife sheat
@@samvalentine3206 I have my great grandmother's recipe box. Nothing is measured. Everything is a pat, dash, pinch, scoop. It was like reading a foreign language for me to convert the recipes but the food is oh so good. I only measure when baking. Cooking is done by the sense of smell, taste and sight.
Now you need a golf cart gas heater. They use the Coleman gas stove gas canisters and do a phenomenal job. The heater sits in the cup holder and run about $80/$90.
They know how to use the internet to buy the things they want. The point of mentioning very specific things is so that a viewer will buy it for them. It's a common grift that a lot of youtube people practice. I wish Al and Gina would stop doing it and be more wholesome vloggers but the temptation to grift must be just too much especially during these difficult times.
Love the doors and back window, it sure will be more comfortable. Gina, that dinner looked so good. I will definitely have to try it. Anything you do on the property Al is fun to watch. I am most interested in how you are going to navigate the stumps left by the beavers. Have a Blessed day.
Those upgrades should help keep the biting wind and cold out of your Mule. We have an open JD 825i and it is no fun in the bad weather. We get a lot of howling winds here in North Carolina's High Country. I love that Figaro has such a schedule. Cats are a creature of habit. I would love to see you build a log cabin at the off-grid property. You certainly have the logs for it! Can we see how your Christmas tree looks? Blessings to all.
Lol, the US is one of only a few countries left that uses imperial weights and measures. I can use both, metric is so easy to use. The closed in cab will be much nicer for you all.
I remember the USA tried back in the 70's to go metric, but there was so much push back, the effort was stopped. Had they kept at it, ultimately we would have adapted to it. Metric seems pretty easy - except for temps.
@@samvalentine3206 I can understand Metric & Imperial and for temps can understand both. To convert, Centigrade X by 9, divide by 5 & add 32 or 0 C = 32 F, 10 C = 50 F, 20 C = 68 F, 30 C = 86 F, 40 C = 104 F. This is how I remember learning the difference growing up. Funny fact in the UK most measurements are in metric with the main exception being *Miles* used on roads & speed limits in Miles per Hour.
my experience with front and back shields was that it made the wind and dust swirl around inside the cab, but mine was only a 3 passenger model. I later bought a new Polaris1000 with full hard cab with roll down windows and a heater
Really cool upgrade to the Mule, for sure; it'll make it more comfortable in bad weather! Gina, this sausage/rice dish looks great! SUGGESTION: Would love if you could put the recipe in the Notes area. Y'all Be Safe (stay warm!)!
YES, U DO USE MILLIMETER IN THE US!!! All US millitary target range is in metric, two "klicks" is 2 Km(killometer) = 2000m. As an former polis officer, you should know, 9 millimeter(.38 - .357). One inch is 25,4millimeter (25,4 * .357=9,06mm). Kawasaki is not an American company, it´s japanise, and the use metric. You are stuck with old, or can´t you figure out the metric sysytem? Even England have adopted the metric... In Sweden we use inch in plumbing & timber in raw wood, but millimeter when the timber are cut & planned. You have to catch up Al... Good job.
Hi Gina, you're gonna love that chopper. I've used one for years. Let me pass on a TIP though: when lowering the top and before you press down on the front of it, put your thumb heel on the rear of the top, just over where the hinges are, then press/pound the front of the top. This will save on the stress on the hinges and much less likelihood of them breaking. Also, it doesn't hurt to cut the veggies in thinner pieces. Take it from one who knows.... had my first one break both hinges in one fell swoop. :( Blessings. :)
Shouldn't be too hard to remove and reinstall now that hes got them all set up... but I was wondering the same thing. Ive seen things get shredded from the wind
The vegetable chopper is great for chopping pepper, carrots, onions and any other vegetables. For the cab, I would put noodles around the back window to help keep the heat in
@@LumnahAcres I'd like to see you officially name the new property and do a christening with a carved/painted sign. It would also be fun to see a satellite image of the whole property and kind of teaser tour of your ideas you want to do with different areas.
@@tonygrimes13 it's very easy to isolate just their property and mask any pronounced identifying features to avoid that problem. Especially in heavily forested areas, from a satellite image they all look the same. That said, it can still be done without a satellite image.
I think a wood storage unit is a good idea. As you were cutting down some of those trees then some of the right sized pieces can be moved there and start drying out asap. Taking some of it back a load at a time as you cut would save time and energy this Spring.
FYI out of 195 countries in the world the US, Liberia and Myanmar are the only 3 that still use imperial measurements.... just saying y’all need to get with the times 🤓
With the ground frozen and covered in snow, this will be a good time to go around looking for focal spots for trails to go to. Clearings and copses and big Queen trees. Once you know where those places might be, you'll know where to go in summer, and can decide if the location is worth making a trail to / through.
Hey Al, the slots in the bed liner sides allow you to put wood across the bed and into slots to isolate goods from sliding around. You can leave in the bed and position where needed as needed. Good luck. Still think you need a squeegee/brush for windows
It felt like Christmas to me like I was opening that Box for the shield for your side-by-side got really excited so glad you're making it warmer for the girls and you
I agree. As an American our weights and measures need to be changed also farinheight to centigrade. Funny though our money is all in 1,5,10,20,(25)50,100.
We tried to convert to metrics in the '70's, but folks couldn't handle it and so it was never adopted. I do remember buying gas in liters for a few months - and road signs had add-on signs to kilometers. Our speedometers still show both MPH and KPH - the only holdover - besides mostly metric hardware on cars.
It's a Kawasaki, of course it's metric. But I've noticed even products made in the USA half the time are metric. Imagine if we would just make the switch to metric like we were supposed to do a few decades ago we wouldn't be still trying to do these stupid conversations. Eventually only needing one tool set , etc. But oh well, thank God for Jack Daniel. 🥃
Awesome good job installing the doors on the mule!! Should keep that cold air from freezing you !! Thank you Santa!! Dinner as usual looks so delicious chief Gina did a great job !! Thank you for sharing your all blessed!!
Al I noticed when you drive the mule on and off the trailer , the trailer squat down and lift the tongue and the back of the pick up up into the air . You might want to consider getting a couple of Spring loaded trailer jacks to brace up the back of the trailer to keep this from happening . The type you can pull a pin and step on the foot to set it to the ground and then pull a pin to release it .
Hard to imagine that a Japanese company would make aftermarket parts and dare to print their instructions in Metric. They should be more like America, we cater to every friggin low life that doesn't want to take the time to learn something new.
I have that same chopper. It’s my favorite tool in the kitchen, although I have never tried to chop such large chunks of onion. I do it two slices at a time and slap that top down. Great for venting frustration after a long day.. lol
Lol, "This is America! We don't use millimeters." Yeah, but almost the rest of the world does. :D Oh btw, before someone tells me something like "we'd used them for ages", so did we in Europe (or other country-based measuring systems) when immigrants of European heritage were fighting against their European overlords in 1770s. ;) By the end of the 19th century most European countries used metric system after France started it in 1795. Only the UK remains using their imperial system in Europe these days though officially they are in the metric camp. And, the inch has been defined using the metric system since 1960s as 25.4 mm, and NASA has been using metric since 2007.

Kawasaki is from Japan, a country that uses the metric system and not Imperial! Only three countries in the world stubbornly use Imperial: America is one of them!
Good morning Lumnah Famliy! For the gap, quick fix is pipe foam /pool noodle, slice it down one side and fit it on the door edge and voila! Till you can find a better lasting gasket for your doors
You look at this beautiful, progressive, free country and think it's middle ages because of the Imperial system? There is a saying that goes, "when the United States of America gets sick, the WORLD takes an aspirin". Hardly middle ages there, Pierre.

howdy al that looks like polycorbonate it's stronger than acrylic but scratches easier. you can tell by thumping it with your finger if it vibrates is's poly. also it would be easy to drill, like butter.
I've had my chopper for about 20 years and I find that putting the onion in sideways with thinner side toward hinge works best. Also, don't let food dry in the blades, as it becomes very hard to clean out. I love mine, especially if I am doing a lot of veggies.
Hi Gina. I use a “milking stool” to have the best height to push down on kitchen gadgets. Olivia’s stool (the one Al showed us that she refused to use when she was little), would be perfect to get leverage on your cool tool.
I finally broken down and bought one tape measure that is metric for those times when you have measurements in cm etc and saves converting a bunch of measurements. It’s worth it.

@@samvalentine3206 I kinda think that's what's coming soon. Just been shipped. At least a heater at any rate.
I've seen guys use a chainsaw holder called "Saw Haul" seems to work well.
Gina,
You must cut your pieces smaller so that you do not break off the hinges on the chopper, like I did.
I just have to giggle at your metric convertions, it is so much easier than inches... Have a good day!
Man you were lucky! You MUST clean out tracked vehicles before you let them sit overnight. They will freeze up and break stuff.
Howdy from west Texas! The mule is going to be pretty warm when you get all the bits and pieces. Between the mule, the fire and the new outhouse/storage building, y’all will be able to stay relatively comfortable when y’all are out there.
Mornin Lumnah's, most tape measures we buy in Australia have mm on one side and inches on the other, not sure why, as we only use mm in Australia.
its so we can speak american🤣🤣
I feel sorry for you !
So do we in the UK (have dual calibration tapes !). In reality we have to use both because our houses pre 65 ( call it 70 ! ) were built to the imperial inch and you will end up in a buggers muddle if you do not take this into account !
Great video. You are really accessorizing that Mule. I don’t know if it came with any kind of heater,
but if it didn’t you should check out what’s available. The doors and windows will help but it will still
be cold inside and your breath alone will fog up the windows. With those doors and windows and
some kind of heat the girls and you will have a blast exploring every thing you can find on your new land.
Bah !
Most US cars now use metrics.
Sam Val That’s because very little in US cars is made in the US. They predominantly assemble parts from other countries and label it “Made in America”.
AL can do anything! I am amazed every time. He has super powers
One day... one day... 😎
Yikes! The Mule is starting to look like a much better ride. I'll bet when the 3 of you get in together you'll be able to see 3 huge 😃 smiles.
We have been using inches, feet, etc forever, so no chance.
Another fun video though I hope you'll either buy or be sent a Titan Peeler brand tool to go along with your kitchen utensils and its similar to the one Gina was sent but it has a handle which is easier to use plus it peels so beautifully that you can make potatoe chips with a single pass for frying.
show us how the Christmas tree turned out.
That should keep you guys warmer when driving around it l make a big difference take care
That ventilation could well prevent fogging of the windshield and side curtains.
ah Millimetres or as we call it in the Oil Industry ,the rest of the world measuement
Hee, Hee. G-D Bless
The girls are going to be so happy the wind and cold will be blocked out.
It'll be harder for Al to provide those video shots he likes to show for us, looking down at the tires (or tracks) going through the snow/slush/mud.
Be near impossible to get them out of it now. Al will be working alone.
I've started saying, "Holy moly." I was trying to figure out where I picked that up, lol. Found it!
Missing Goose & Maverick when you stomp the ice out of the pan.
😶
They were always side by side quacking. 💕
you can attach a bar protector bore holes in one side use caridge bolts by spreading the bar protector out and attactching pipe type clamps to the bolts the attach the clamps to the pipe frame and use it as a scabbard to hold your saw uppright like a knife sheat
I think a pool noodle or pipe insulation would work GREAT! Now it looks like a monsters Jeep.lol
So glad the upgrades made the mule more comfortable!
Maybe we should be measuring things in smidges and whiskers instead of mm and inches 😂😂
You got it! And pinches, dollops and the like!
@@samvalentine3206 ahh an inch and 3 daughters and maybe 2 inches and 3 little lines... 1" 3/4 and 2" 3/32nds lol
Granny Clampett told me it was "smidgin" not "smidge". She was working her still at the time and couldn't afford to make a mistake.
Now you need a golf cart gas heater. They use the Coleman gas stove gas canisters and do a phenomenal job. The heater sits in the cup holder and run about $80/$90.
Al check out the channel “Out Doors with the Morgan’s” mike has a side by side that has a chain saw carrier and other accessories
So does Stoney Ridge Farmer, except he mounted it to an ATV.
That's a really nice addition to the MULE. Also, will help keep out snow/rain when it's outside. Nice.
Suggestion for a name for the OFF-GRID Property:
The Lumnah Woods
I think Lumnah Acres would be better.
Beaver Creek Homestead or Split rock Acres
@@RickP654 Al has already casually said Lumnah Acres 2.
He has unofficially dubbed it Lumnah 2.0. I thought "Land of Lumnah" had a ring to it.
Love the doors and back window, it sure will be more comfortable. Gina, that dinner looked so good. I will definitely have to try it. Anything you do on the property Al is fun to watch. I am most interested in how you are going to navigate the stumps left by the beavers. Have a Blessed day.
Watch out Al those nuts for the mule doors might be metric. A happy metricated Brit since 1975
Those upgrades should help keep the biting wind and cold out of your Mule.
@@tonygrimes13 that is how l was taught it too in school.
@@samvalentine3206 0 C freezing 100 C boiling. Easy :)
my experience with front and back shields was that it made the wind and dust swirl around inside the cab, but mine was only a 3 passenger model. I later bought a new Polaris1000 with full hard cab with roll down windows and a heater
Gee Al you sure opened up a can of worms with that metric comment :)
When he said what's 90mm I was telling 3- 1/2 inches, a 2x4in Australia is 90x45 👍😊
😁
Good job.
Just use the one you need as needed
Hi Gina, you're gonna love that chopper. I've used one for years. Let me pass on a TIP though: when lowering the top and before you press down on the front of it, put your thumb heel on the rear of the top, just over where the hinges are, then press/pound the front of the top. This will save on the stress on the hinges and much less likelihood of them breaking. Also, it doesn't hurt to cut the veggies in thinner pieces. Take it from one who knows.... had my first one break both hinges in one fell swoop. :( Blessings. :)
BE CAREFUL HAULING IT WITH DOORS ON
Wind from hiway speeds could open & trash them quick.
Points for the tip !!!
Shouldn't be too hard to remove and reinstall now that hes got them all set up... but I was wondering the same thing. Ive seen things get shredded from the wind
I tried to keep it bold and short so he would see it before hauling it.
The vegetable chopper is great for chopping pepper, carrots, onions and any other vegetables. For the cab, I would put noodles around the back window to help keep the heat in
Ok, where is the defroster kit, if everyone is breathing it might fog up fast.
I think there's still that open sunroof over the back seat!
With the chopper I would make the onion 1/2 as thick. I have one and this works well for me.
Gooooooooood mernin'!
Gooooood morning
@@LumnahAcres I'd like to see you officially name the new property and do a christening with a carved/painted sign. It would also be fun to see a satellite image of the whole property and kind of teaser tour of your ideas you want to do with different areas.
@@mintysingularity I don't think they want to give a satellite image in case of stalkers.
We tried in the '70's, but it didn't stick. Too much push back from citizens. Sooner or later the USA must adapt.
With the ground frozen and covered in snow, this will be a good time to go around looking for focal spots for trails to go to. Clearings and copses and big Queen trees. Once you know where those places might be, you'll know where to go in summer, and can decide if the location is worth making a trail to / through.

Gotta get with the the system AL- metric is far far simpler to use . It is what it is.

11:21 I do not understand why America do not use the matrix system, it would have been alot easier for us Europeans to underdtand🤣
I agree. As an American our weights and measures need to be changed also farinheight to centigrade. Funny though our money is all in 1,5,10,20,(25)50,100.
We are special and walk to the beat of a different drummer. Haven't you noticed? Land of the free, home of the brave and Imperial system, baby.
@@samvalentine3206 thanks 👍😁
I have that-always cut into slices first-so much easier to push the lever down and not so much stress on the lever pushing down.FYI
America should pull itself out of the Dark Ages and go to millimetres it will simplify international trading
That's right! And proud of it! (just kidding) 😜
Oh btw, before someone tells me something like "we'd used them for ages", so did we in Europe (or other country-based measuring systems) when immigrants of European heritage were fighting against their European overlords in 1770s. ;) By the end of the 19th century most European countries used metric system after France started it in 1795. Only the UK remains using their imperial system in Europe these days though officially they are in the metric camp. And, the inch has been defined using the metric system since 1960s as 25.4 mm, and NASA has been using metric since 2007.

No argument there. We tried back in the '70's, but it didn't take. No doubt it will be adopted for good one of these days.
