Don't forget how Disney let go of many imagineers and Universal scooped those talented people up :)
Yes, I agree! Also, Disney has hired outside contractors for areas of expansion in EPCOT. Outside contractors who never even stepped foot in a theme park!
And Disney might have more "interesting" rules on which contractors qualify for their project work.
Overall, their upper management should look at trajectories of success for IBM, Kodak, Sears, etc. As younger me, I was told these giants, who had been around for dozens of years, would always "rule" the market
And said imagineers took the jobs cause that was the best revenge they could have against Disney. Making Disney regret ever letting them go.
And then Universal put reins on them and most ended up leaving because of how poor Universal management is. Epic Universe is a disaster.
@@MrMac1138Yep. Keep fooling yourself and eating that mouse pie.

Ngl its definitely a facade. There is NO way they are not concerned about this.
Disneys Park division is already collapsing. Theres no way with a genuine thing that might usurp them they aren’t horrified
How much you wanna bet Disney was hoping covid would've killed off EU or delayed it at least 5 years. Rip
Even during Covid, Universal kept building while Disney had to stop all construction. They've been behind the curve in some ways for a while.
Also, according to a comment or video I watched in May 2020, Disney was allegedly not expecting Universal to reopen as soon as it did and had to hastily make a reopening plan for Disney World, which also could have cost them.
@@wilsoncarlstedt8385 Universal was hauling ass during COVID and got Velocicoaster ready on time. Hats off to them
That was always my take. They were sitting and waiting for that to happen
They thought wrong. Universal has been building nonstop at all parks.
For a short period of time yeah that did happen because the entire project was paused for about 4-6 months and almost everyone on the Epic team at Creative was laid off during that time. Disney was probably breathing a sigh of relief...and then once the vaccine came out for COVID and UO could start getting more guests back into their parks again they quickly realized they needed to get Epic going again ASAP and started the processing of restarting the project and then it just went into absolute overdrive from there.
Not only did Disney get caught off guard by the original Epic Universe announcement in 2019 (even though they'll never admit it), I bet they also didn't think Universal would start Epic Universe back up so quickly in 2021, catching them off guard yet again. They. had very little to no plans for Epic Universe as a response and to this day still doesn't really. They're totally downplaying Epic saying Epic is a response to them when this clearly isn't the case.
***HOT TAKE***
Galaxy’s Edge and Pandora desperately need more immersive feature and qualities. While I like both those IP more than Potter, I will agree that the Wizarding world has better immersion for the average guest.
You take the floating rock out of Pandora, you’d never know you’re in a land dedicated to Avatar.
You take away the Millennium Falcon, you’d never know you’re in a land dedicated to Star Wars.
Even with the bags, bottles, food, etc - it’s not enough to beat the Wizarding World. Which makes me frustrated because ROTR is such a phenomenal feat of Engineering.
For Pandora to be so beautiful, vibrant, and full abiotic and biotic factors, there’s no life in that area.
Both areas need more “Life”.
I went to Pandora and was completely disappointed. Not worth the wait in my opinion. A 3D video and a lame boat ride.
I was thinking Disney should do what Universal is doing for the HTTYD land. Disney should build flying models of the mountain banshees for Pandora and maybe have tall people dressed up with costumes, makeup, and prosthetics to look like the Na’vi.
For Galaxy’s Edge Disney apparently tried to have a robot named J4-K3 strolling around a park. However we never got any robots or “droids” walking or rolling around Galaxy’s Edge. Not sure if it’s because little kids would keep touching them or climbing them.
The closest I have seen to Disney actually having robots moving around Galaxy’s Edge is when they introduced the BD-X droids at Disneyland. Although that’s not at Hollywood Studios.
@@martincarnahan381 And today they don't keep AK open late enough to see it at night which is when it looks the best.
IMO Galaxy Edge was poorly done. It's just a mediocrely themed shopping area with 1 E-Ticket attraction. Yes, Diagon Alley is similar but its extremely well done and there's also interactive areas all around Dragon Alley with their wand experiences unlike Galaxy's Edge which you can overspend on a lightsaber and then have nothing to do with it afterwards.
ToyStory Land is also IMO poorly done. There's nothing there except SlinkyDog Dash which isn't worth waiting for at all.
That is such a moronic comment...if you take away Hogwarts you would never know you are in Potterland
Universal: How many times do we have to keep teaching you this lesson, old man?
"I love the young people."
Disney’s comments about Epic Universe reminded me of that joke from the Simpsons where the Duff beer ceo claims that people will still buy non-alcoholic beer only to close the factory soon after, because Disney’s new projects would be overshadowed why anything Universal is cranking out.
Disney's like "but guys we just gave you Tron - a carbon copy of a ride that already exists and Tiana - a reskin of a ride! What more do you waannnnt?"
Only took them two years to build the first one in Shanghai and took 6 years for Orlando
I’m still waiting for the avengers e ticket they promised us here in California adventure, it’s been 4+ years and still no construction has started 😂
I mean, universal all over the world has the exact same
Rides also apart from fast and the furious
@@dratelectasisthere’s no duplicate of velocicoaster, hagrids, rip ride, toon land, hulk, MIB- etc etc
Considering how long it took for Tron to be built in MK, the whole experience is very underwhelming. The queue feels cheap, the ride is too short, and the virtual queue system is a nightmare.
If Universal manages to tie attendance numbers with the Magic Kingdom I'm going to lose my mind. Do you know how INSANE that is ?????? Matching and outdoing THE theme park conglomerate that has held #1 for SO MANY years ?? I'll do nothing but congratulate Uni
They won't match magic kingdom anytime soon. I hope to see it Happen eventually but epic universe certainly won't have the capacity for that without adding a decent amount of more attractions.
I think it’s going to take some time after epic universe comes out for that to happen. Despite lots of people online saying otherwise Disneyworld is still by far the most popular park in the world and in orlando. I went on vacation there september of last year and people at universal were wearing disney shirts lol. It’s still the little brother park it’s just grown a lot since the Wizarding World expansions.
@@0dylan Epic is as big as Islands and Universal Studios combined. I think they have more than enough opportunity to over take Magic Kingdom. The magic Kingdom has one advantage. Parents. Not their kids, but the parents. The parents pay for everything. And it's almost like a tradition that parents take their kids to magic Kingdom when they are old enough. Basically a kiddie park. I know the last times I went to Disney it wasn't Magic Kingdom.
10 years ago it would have been unthinkable for a Universal park to outdraw ANY Disney park, never mind 3 of them
@@martincarnahan381 This is a misconception. Epic is the same size as IOA (just a park in the center instead of a lagoon). Epic is apx 100 acres. When people here 700 acres they think iits Epic but that ALL the property Universal purchased. It'd be like saying the Magic Kingdom is 24,000 acres.
While I agree with almost everything you're saying, I also don't know what you expect a spokesperson to say. They aren't going to come out and say Universal is kicking our behinds, they're going to play some gamesmanship. All businesses do this so I would actually be surprised if they admitted the truth. Disney, Universal, all of us know what's going on, we all know Disney is reacting but you won't find spokesmen or leadership admit it publicly verbally. They admit it with their actions and Disney actions is where the admission is.
Yeah, Disney is absolutely screwed, and they know it. They're just far too full of themselves to admit it. What is it going to further take in order for Disney to get its head out of its ass and simply admit it has been failing its fans and shareholders over the last 4-5 years?
This is the first time they've really been "challenged" and are now threatened with being usurped by a rival ... to me, they seem to be frozen in fear/shock and simply don't know what to do now.
Totally agree
I agree all the lands universal chose have rumors of something special like drone dragons in berk the ground braking ministry of magic ride in the wizarding world the track jumping roller coaster in super Nintendo world and probably many more
Conceal don't feel, don't let them know. 😂
Disney’s fan base is rabid and worldwide. They are comparable to Taylor swift fans and are multigenerational.
Do you ever hear the term Universal Adults? No? Anyone move to Orlando just to be close to Universal? No? Exactly. Disney doesn't need to worry. Epic will be incredibly successful just like Universal's Harry Potter addition, where we heard all this jargon before, but Disney still is Disney and they always will be. Good competition is always good for business and both companies will benefit from it as well as attendees.
Disney also may think that Epic will have major issues when it opens like previous parks have. But I think Universal has learned that lesson which is why we have a Summer 2025 opening date instead of something sooner. So they can have months to test and work out the bugs before the park opens.
Disney is just going to make another water interaction attraction. That will compete with Epic Universe....
And make a land in animal kingdom which makes no sense to the park and its meaning, which also includes another retheme of a ride. Jesus how the mighty have fallen
@@kingbreck4648 Yeah when is Disney going to actually make something brand new from the ground up and stop just cheapening out rethemeing things? And also placing stuff in parks where it doesn't belong. This is a massive mistake because attractions are typically in place for 15-20yrs before they're replaced.
I absolutely love Cosmic Rewind. They did an absolute amazing job and this shows they can still do it but it's like they either don't have the funding or don't wanna spend the money to keep doing attractions like this. That being said Cosmic Rewind absolutely does not belong in EPCOT. I think it would be so much better served in MK where TRON was built. There's nothing EPCOT about Cosmic Rewind...not at all.
Now they're doing the same thing in AK where the lands/rethemes don't fit the park they're in. 🤦♂
@@ducktails1695 I like cosmic rewind a lot too, it’s one of my favorite coasters from them. However I didn’t feel that amazed with it because of its location and the whole Epcot storyline they kinda forced into the queue, while during the ride none of which was kind of reprised. Disney used to be great at making sense and connecting a lot of things but now they’re just kind of doing whatever it takes to gain publicity even if it’s wrong. They are gonna have to learn from the backlash or just continue being ignorant against their own fan base.
@@kingbreck4648 I honestly think they put Cosmic Rewind into EPCOT because they're experiencing lower attendance there so they built it there, tried to shoehorn a story so it "fit" into EPCOT to try and raise attendance numbers. People mostly go to EPCOT for the food festivals so when there isn't one EPCOT is fairly slow until the next festival comes. There just isn't a lot to do there in the end. I do however like EPCOT the best of all the Disney parks and go there a lot. I just like to walk around mostly.

Such dumb take. If Disney goes down and Universal isn’t fighting for the top or having a nearly equal competitor at least the customer loses. You need competition to push innovation
The difference is Universal execs actually care and listen to what fans have to say. They aren’t perfect, but they learn from their mistakes and fallbacks ie, them reiterating that DK mine cart ride won’t have screens bc they realize people prefer rides without them.
I think in general, having a theme park land designed with the philosophy of Nintendo's game design is probably the most brilliant thing they could have done. Though I have a lot of issues with Nintendo's business side, the passion and creativity they put in their games definitely shines through. Their philosophy really emphasizes the moment to moment enjoyment for their customers, and everything I've seen of Super Nintendo World so far plays in to that, and DK World improving upon that based on that makes me even more excited.
“Ah yes the past can hurt, but the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.” - The Lion King 1994, a movie that Disney made yet refuses to take advice from.

Theyve honed the atmosphere of the park to perfection imo
I talked to a Disney rep at a job recruitment fair. They are terrified
Maybe if they put more thought into the Epcot redo they wouldn’t have been fucked
They aren’t. Universal is slashing budgets because surveys show Epic Universe is not going to meet revenue expectations. People care about Super Nintendo World and nothing else. And Universal desperately wants to make $200 a day the baseline for it but it is so light on attractions and two of the big ones are just small evolutions of Spidey and Forbiddem Journey with tons and tons of screens. Universal is trying to trim budgets everywhere because they expect Epic will only do about 70% of what they expected. It will be a big hit for two months and then struggle. Universal also just cannot budget to fix or replace old rides, so MIB will still be a mess and Rip Ride Rocket will close with no replacement for at least 2 years. They already have plans for massive BOGO events for Florida residents soon after opening.

Cricket is such a good analogy because of the way their legs store up energy and then spring after a bit
After visiting both disneyworld and universal orlando for the first time in 2022, i was already more in favor of universal. Now that they have epic universe, its not even a contest.
I didn't honestly even realize that Islands and Studios Florida have already passed Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom in terms of annual attendance. Add Epic Universe to that picture and even more on property hotels, and Disney is so doomed. No amount of re-themed lands (Tropical Americas @ AK) or Magic Kingdom expansions (Villains Land/Beyond Big Thunder) will stop this. Only option is a new fifth gate, and knowing Disney's financial state right now, even if they do open one, it'll be a cheap, thrown together IP fest to the likes of California Adventure or Disney Adventure World, when what they'll really need is a DisneySea.
The real baffling thing is that Disney let Universal get Nintendo and they dedicated a large sub section of the new park to a Nintendo land. I mean - given than Disney worked with Nintendo in the past, on various game and theme park projects - how the f@ck did they let THAT happen?!?!?
@@xBINARYGODx also bewildering, especially given how much of an overlap there is between Disney fans and Nintendo. They’ve been doing so much better at world building than Disney too.

Now most plan several Disney days and 1 Universal.
Next vacation alot of people will plan to do several universal and only 1 or 2 Disney !
HHN is a big attraction too
welp, now we know the pricing of the new tickets there is a high chance people will just skip disney. universal only added an extra 24 dollars from the old mutiple park and day ticket. it basically costs the same to go to a single disney park for one day then go to universal and do all the parks there for mutiple days, with that in mind, why would anyone go to disney? especially with the lack of things opening next year
“Ima stay calm, ima stay calm” - universal epic universe 5min ad plays :D
Epic universe also has a rumored phase 2 expansion that’ll bring Luigi’s mansion and another ride to the universal monsters area. Not to mention the other 2 parks possibly getting Zelda, Pokémon, a possible rip ride rocket referb or replacement, and them replacing the crappy fast and furious ride with something cool AND later this year they’re bringing some cool parts of the Japan parade over
Also there will might be a Great Hall dining experience added to the Harry Potter area
I want them to add a lord of the rings land
@@creativelyjolie Maybe that’ll happen if a Universal theme park actually gets built at Bedford in the UK
Wow. that statement left me in shock. Cuz you just know they’re shakin in their boots behind the scenes💀
Disney didn't really have a direct response to Islands of Adventure those 25-ish years ago, did they?
To be fair, they'd just opened Animal Kingdom the year prior in '98, and EPCOT was set to receive a massive overhaul in the 2000's which was eventually canned.
I don't think a fifth gate would hurt, it couldn't cannibalize the rest of the resort since it's been so long since the last- it took 11 years from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, 7 from EPCOT to MGM, and 9 from MGM to Animal Kingdom- by all accounts, the resort is overdue for another gate. Disney has the money and the minds to go forward with it- they just don't want to expand unless they have to.
The other big difference with Islands was that the main Studios park was a far cry attendance-wise from any Disney park at that time unlike the two Universal parks now which are right in the mix with Disney. Plus, Universal bungled the marketing campaign and subsequent opening of Islands and were further hurt by the travel downturn in the early 2000s so Disney was actually justified in not directly responding to that in hindsight.
To be fair to disney. They probably consider, at the time, Islands of Adventure to just be your typical amusement park. It will draw in similar but slightly different crowds.
Disney hates their audience, they try to price them out so less of them show up. they’re disrespectful to their cast members, they’re egotistical in the belief that no one will ever come close to them in the theme park sphere. Universal is the opposite of Disney in all those ways. they’re hungry, they love and reward their team members and pass holders, they make attractions for the love of it, and they have a chip on their shoulder to topple the mouse, and if Disney stays asleep at the wheel, Universal can do just that. for our sake as theme park fans I hope Disney gets their head out of their ass and starts making the attractions they’re beyond capable of making
🙄The House of Mouse will NEVER topple. And Disney NEVER hates their audience at all. Right now, their minds are too scrambled to even think about what we want, too scrambled to think straight. Well, I have a solution for that problem.

Your attendance numbers also tell you another thing. Magic Kingdom has the bigger numbers because of one thing and one thing only. PARENTS. How many parents do you know who have kids always talk about taking them to the Magic Kingdom. It's almost like a parental tradition since the Magic Kingdom is catered to parents and young children. If you take away Magic Kingdoms numbers than Disney doesn't have any advantage. Universal actually does. The last few times I went to Disney I had no desire to go to Magic Kingdom because I have no children and no desire to go to what basically is a kiddie park.
Exactly, before watching videos of the Tron ride I wanted to go to Magic Kingdom just to go on it. However my mom who went there with my aunt says it’s not worth going to Magic Kingdom for the same reason you said. Magic Kingdom is basically a kiddie park.

Good video man! Can’t wait for Disney to announce tons of projects at D23 in response to Epic Universe, and for said projects to take years to finish or get cancelled!
Also that $60 billion isn't specifically for the United States, it's divided for All parks, mainly Out of the United States.
It's also for their cruise line dept too.
The danger in the short term (1-2 decades) really isn't Universal overtaking Disney's attendance in Orlando, but causing a significant shortfall in Disney park profit projections that could create a death spiral.
Disney will still have a park and resort advantage in Orlando (1 more park, 1 more water park, a lot more resorts). Even if Epic Universe is the best theme park in the world, it's not overcoming those advantages.
However, it will likely significantly level out the playing field, and in doing so draw away a double digit % of Disney World guests.
This is potentially catastrophic for Disney as the entire company's structure is built around redistributing Disney Parks profit to other branches of the company. If the profit engine of the company is suddenly only running at 80-70% power of what it used to, this will put significant pressure on Disney. They will have to make significant cost reductions. Either killing off money losing parts of the company like Disney Plus, or significantly under investing in the parks even more.
Either decision will leave Disney vulnerable against a growing Universal Parks that is playing the long game.
💯 this!!! This is what people don't understand. Universal is set to maybe not overtake WDW in terms of attendance as MK will always beat any UO park, but if people stay at a Universal hotel that benefits Universal financially, families will spend more time at UO Parks as a result of staying at a Universal hotel which benefits Universal financially. If people are spending more time and more money at UOR then negatively impacts WDW's bottomline which hurts their ability to invest in WDW. Disney already isn't in a great financial position as they have lots of debt and really the only division making decent money for Disney is their parks division and unfortunately that money isn't going back into their parks division, but rather their movie studios which still aren't making much money.
lol this guy is so underrated, he's got a great ability to discuss things efficiently
The only good side I can see about universal building more parks is that it hopefully soreads out the Orlando consumer base. Makes all parks slightly less crowded. But I'm probably overlooking induced demand too.
This channel is great man! Awesome work
BTW I love that you are a critic of Disney. It's so hard to find that in the world today.
I also recommend to you the channel of poseidon Entertainment, he makes video essays and videos about theme parks
I still want to wait until after D23 to continue the discussion. Will it all be reactionary? Yes it will, but I still want to see what that reaction is. Also, how concrete anything they say is, or will it all be more fuzzy "blue sky" coulda shoulda woulda. It will definitely be put up or shut up time for Disney.
This years d23: “hey guys we might maybe possibly we’re thinking of finally starting construction on the avengers e ticket we have been promising you guys for 4+ years. But maybe not but we might.
Also here’s the concept art of the designs for the trash cans that will be in the queue. Anyways that concludes this years d23 see you next year and don’t forget to buy more avengers merchandise in the park!”
Classic iger and Josh 😂
You STILL BELIEVE anything said at D23? 😂😂😂😂😂 So far most of their announcements have been bullsh*t. When they DO build something, it looks nothing like what they promised, and takes five times as long to build. Meanwhile they NEVER ask their actual guests what they like and don't like. Universal, and even BG send out emails with long surveys about each and every visit you make, as pass holders or not. I've never gotten a survey from Disney. Not in 6 yrs. SOOOO...yeah.
I'd not count anything until there's dirt being shoveled. So many announced projects at Disney have ended up quietly dissapearing lately its insane. Whats truly amazing about Epic is how little changed from the concept art in 2019 -- the monster show replaced by a coaster. Otherwise, literally nothing else changed
@@richardperhai8292 exactly same here. I used to give Disney the benefit of the doubt but it’s happened so much lately that I refuse to get my hopes up until work actually starts. Because I have been disappointed so many times after they go back on their promises or budget cut them so heavily.
Just like the avengers e ticket they were hyping us up for, they cancelled the high budget quinjet iteration of it after having us wait so long (even after promising it wasn’t cancelled). And they are going with a cheaper multiverse ride idea. It’s been 4+ years and yet still no construction has started so I find it hard to get excited for anything else Disney promises if they can’t even open a simple ride after 4-5 years as promised.
Thankfully I no longer think they are sleeping now that chapeck is no longer in charge. Unfortunately I feel like when Disneys additions come to fruition it will be to little to late especially considering if they keep the current construction speed

I think Disney is way too proud to admit that they're intimidated by Epic Universe OR they're planning something...something big
I say the former, but they want us to think the latter
@@5Demona5 😠It's DEFINITELY the latter, sister. They're planning something really big!
🙄Disney is HARDLY intimidated! They're planning something, all right. Something that'll get them back to the top. And I've got that something planned as well.
Planning something big? With what money? Disney is bleeding money, their parks are falling apart, they have nothing planned, they are terrified because they have nothing!
@@annien.1727That’s what I’m thinking as well. Disney is purposely gonna take a risk by not doing anything while Epic Universe is open for like a few months or years. Then they’re gonna start doing construction on some really big things that will might beat Universal by a lot, if the odds go in their favor.
This may be a slight overreaction.... but Universal is going to have a city walk problem. It's already packed most nights I've gone lately. I can't see how they are going to fit people from an entire new park into it lol
The new park is going to be on a completely different plot of land and the celestial park is supposed to act as a “city walk” esque section

I am Brazilian and among Brazilians who will open a Disney in Brazil, mainly because that there will be a d23 and Disney said it will invest 6 billion in theme parks for those of you out there, this theory has some basis, I know it doesn't have much to do with the theme of the video but I think which is an interesting question
I personally doubt it
Disney’s new lands have not even held a candle to both of the wizarding worlds which are just insanely immersive experiences. Disney seems to be focusing way too much on quantity, trying to include as many movies and franchises as possible in the parks, and not on quality. This is just my personal opinion, but I don’t care as much about seeing all of my favorite movies represented in the parks as I do about the overall theme of the park being well executed. With the exception of Remy's ratatouille adventure, all of Disney’s additions since 2016 have felt incredibly out of place in their respective parks. Universal on the other hand has executed their additions perfectly. The transition from islands of adventure into hogsmeade is so seamless and they complement each other very well. The same exact thing goes for diagon ally because the transition from New York to San Francisco to London feels very natural. And even the individual attractions that they have created have been perfectly placed.
Competition always good for consumer
Playing catch-up... Oh F right off disney person. May i remind them of how devastating potter was in 2009?
It was so devastating that Disney still has 7/10 of the most popular parks by attendance on their off year. Only 1 Universal US park is even in top 5

Definitely bodes well for epic universe being great

I can't wait for Disney to be shocked when Universal announces the LotR or Zelda expansions, giving them no time to react because the parks hosting them are already up and running.
And in Europe you have the potential universal great Britain which might be making some mouse sweat since Disneyland Paris dominates the market the main park I understand it's beautiful but most European parks destroy walt Disney studios though like eftling, Europa Park,Phantasialand parc asterix ECT
I don't care for Disney World. It's not politically motivated either. The last time I went to Disney was before the pandemic and Disney going woke. That's their prerogative. If I liked Disney I would still go there. I love Universal. I haven't been there since before the pandemic either but I used to vacation there every year. I already have my reservations made at the Royal Pacific club level for a week in November 2025 for 7 days. It's gonna be a good time. I've never had a bad time at Universal. I can't say that about Disney. More bad than good. Over crowded, too expensive for what your getting, Stressful trying to get rides in to justify the cost of admission. Universals fast pass blows away Disney's reservation system. I can ride anything as much as I want at any time and it's included with my room and everyone who stays in it. All you have to do is stay at one of the three signature hotels and your fast pass is included with your room.
9:50 And the first announcement for New Fantasyland was nothing but the Mermaid ride and some meet-and-greets. After a tepid public response, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was quickly shoehorned into the tight space.
So far look at where the bulk of that $60 billion is going, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Paris…. All the projects going on currently in those parks are part of the $60 billion, that was stated in the Q1 earnings call… sooo what is Orlando getting out of that $60 billion. So far a few reskinned rides.
It’s going to be even worse here at the California Disney parks. They haven’t even started construction on the avengers e ticket they have been promising us for 4+ years. And even after that they haven’t announced anything concrete, I’m just expecting more cheap lame re themes like Pixar pier and San fransokoyo.

The irony of disney+ advertising to me through the whole video 😂😂
Disney is in absolutely no place to be this arrogant and say things like Epic Universe is no threat. Especially now in 2024 where the prices for the park are overly expensive, the fast pass system was replaced with a complicated, costly and annoying system in Genie Plus, the expensive hotel rooms are now nowhere near worth as much as their charging, free amenities being put behind large expensive paywalls, and overall poor decision making and planning by upper management making matters worse.
Those 5 lands being a response to Wizarding world really does speak volumes about the state they’re in. Even the most hyped up area of the Disney parks being the Star Wars world turned out to be rather lackluster (in my opinion anyway). Need I mention the Star Wars hotel and how much of a mess that was?
Universal is a rival of Disney’s own making after they kicked their feet up and let Universal have Harry Potter. Now they’re setting up to slaughter Disney, and Disney is repeating history due to arrogance.
8:24 dude people will still go to Disney and they’ll still profit just like before
Well Disney announced a new wrap on a bus when Universal announced 3 news show and a make over for a whole new land...so there is that.
BUT bear country jamboree is getting new music!!! LOL
😂😂😂😂😂 Truth
With Diagon Alley, Universal changed the game by creating the immersive land concept that Disney then copied for Galaxy's Edge. Epic is an entire park built on this concept. So far Disney has no answer to this besides a couple of updates to existing venues and shoehorning the Cars IP into MK Frontierland by destroying Rivers of America and Tom Sawyers Island.
Isn't that they are underestimating, or that they have nothing to compete with and lack the creativity even if they had the ideas
Universal is already in development for a fourth theme park gate near Epic, while building universal Texas and getting ready for Epic Universe UK.
I believe one of Disney's Currently acquired characters said it the best.
Twice the Pride. Double the Fall.
I love how not many people see it this way just yet. Jk Rowling went to Disney first and they denied her the creative rights she wanted so rightfully so she went to Universal who accepted her ideas and creative vision. This was Universal's last ditch effort to stay alive in the market. Universal went from the low end lack luster park that was struggling to find attendance and make money to now they practically gonna take over Disney in the next 5 to 10 years.. hopefully sooner
I argue this without about every Disney or theme park fan I know and this finally puts my point into words, thank you Attraction Ideas, will be using this video a lot in the future
Same here it’s odd how so many people pretty much worship anything Disney does and if you dare to criticize Disney in any way they take it personally and act like you spit on Walt’s grave. I’m not says every Disney park fan is like that but a lot are, it’s scary how cult like they are 😂

I have seen so many “Disney influencers” making Universal videos over the last week. Make no mistake, the vast majority are being paid by Universal for one or more promo videos.
I stick up my finger and I can see which company is sunsetting. Disney had their chance but they blew the last decade and now it's obvious to everyone.
Disney gets ridiculed for adding a ride based on IP but universal gets praised for making a whole theme park based on IP…
Because they do it justice
What if universal studios Dubai never got canceled?
We plan a week at universal and volcano bay every year around HHN. We spend $3-$4,000 each time on upgrades etc and we NEVER think about visiting Disney.. now with epic universe opening we will spend almost two weeks traveling to both parks.. Disney is crazy if they think this isn’t a problem.. when I think about Disney I think “this is for little kids” when I think universal I think “ I’m being put into another world” Disney better watch out
I feel like the thing Disney doesn’t understand is the kids don’t pay for the ticket or plan the trips. If they want more people at the parks they have to have way more stuff that interests adults. Universal has everything for all ages.
I like it because it builds up more competition between the 2. And Disney is too big to ignore this.
However I’m personally more worried about Universal. They have the theming and I like the new IP world set up but the big difference has always been the impact of Disney vs Universal upon walking in to the staff, the food the shops the overall experience outside of the rides never feels the same. If a universal can bring up their customer experience to the same level then Disney should be highly worried
According to Theme Park Media, J. K. Rowling gave Disney a second chance at a Harry Potter land by showing them Universal's plans for the Wizarding World, and Disney called it utterly preposterous and doomed from the start. Whether or not they had the same reaction to Epic Universe, I don't know, but I thought they were planning to re-theme Splash Mountain before talk about Epic Universe.
I cannot subscribe to the notion that if Disney was building stuff the same time as Harry Potter that people would not have gone to Universal. The Harry Potter fans were going to show up no matter what. Disney’s big mistake at that time was not doing Harry Potter themselves.
They had their chance and refused to work with JK Rowling. They basically told her we are in charge here. And she basically said "I don't need your money" and walked over to Universal. After rejecting Universal's first pitch they asked her "What do you want?" and gave her complete and absolute control (I worked the Hohwarts Express. I'm not exagerating when I tell you she dictated everything down to the tradshcans, dustbans, brooms and shopping bags. Every single sign had to have to approval)
@@richardperhai8292 I know this. that is exactly what I’m referring to as their mistake when I said they did not do it themselves. They handed it to universal on a silver platter.
@@Porcf81 Of course the bug difference, especially back then, was Universal had nothing to lose. They were struggling and there had even been talk about them closing one of the parks and scaling back. JK should have known Disney never, ever gives control to anyone though.
Anyone who has ever walked into Diagon Ally looks around and says “wow! Disney is so screwed!”
Love Disney. But he is right. This is nonsense. Universal has stepped up constantly. Avatar took like what 12 years to build? The truth is both companies have had ride flops. But Disney hasn’t built a thing more than a revamped small portion of a park in over 20 years. Universal built a new water park (which anyone who has been to Volcano bay vs a Disney water park can’t deny how much Better VBay is) and now a new park? And Disney says they are just playing catch up? Quality is over quantity. Small world and Peter Pan? Come on Disney. Respect your competitors don’t belittle them when you know you are starting to drown ❤
I wonder if Disney is waiting until EU is finished to get cheaper prices on construction, due to supply/demand factors.
What's crazy is Disney thinking it's acceptable to release the same number of attractions per year as Universal, but have twice the number of parks. That's like saying "I feed my three children three times per day. My youngest eats breakfast, my middle child eats lunch, and my eldest gets the dinner." You actually have to take care of them all, Disney, stop neglecting them.
However , tje biggest reason for me, to go to universal instead of disney, is?that is just easier and more enjoyable to get into a ride, without bull "virtual lines" and other kinks. I think my kast " good yea" at disney was 2018.
I'm so hype for Epic universe
Disney needs to press the red button park 5 with Star Wars avatar and whatever superheroes they have access to
I lost a necklace in a Universal car park a few years ago, can someone look for it for me
Nothing like seeing a new Attraction Ideas video on your feed
My question is, how was Disney's attendance affected by the introduction of HP lands? Because the numbers suggest that there wasn't a huge difference between pre-Hogsmeade opening and after. I wonder if they expect something similar, or if they have data indicating that for most people, Epic Universe just means add a day to their Florida vacation versus one less day at Disney.
The problem is that their parks were flat over the somewhat longer timeline shown closer to the end of the video and Universal doubled their attendance over the same timeframe. Disney was starting at the top, but just sat there at those numbers with zero growth. And it's not going to get better with even more Potter, Nintendo world, and the phase 2 Pokemon stuff. Instead of Disney getting the limelight and Universal getting you for a day or MAYBE two - it will be very easy to now flip that around and make Universal's two parks the main attraction and Disney the secondary stuff you do for a day or MAYBE two.
I mean, Univeral getting Nintendo World and then Pokémon a bit later is just amazingly bad for Disney. I really don't think most people in the gen after mine (I am millennial) or even the younger part of my gen really care about Disney - I would bet plenty, especially post Switch and recent Mario's and Zelda's and the various Pokémon games and cartoons of the 90's, that way more kids care about Nintendo and a vacation featuring their properties.
@@xBINARYGODx Disney has to know that capacity is their biggest issue, though. The fact that they kept the park reservation system in place so long seems to show that. And short of an additional gate of their own, I don't know how they alleviate that.
@@xBINARYGODxhow is Universal getting Nintendo bad for Disney? They have opened the land twice already and it is lambasted and laughed at
Universal has some pretty beloved IPs. But having a Nintendo area? The Mouse may be getting stomped like a Goomba.

I wonder if the Orlando market is getting over built and both companies will suffer? We had a bad experience with Orlando rain and humidity so we haven’t been back in years. I keep thinking about trying again - but the weather destroyed us.
This post literally made no sense. If you know anything at all about Florida, you know there are but two seasons:
1. Hot and rainy

A simple Google search would have told you that, if you don't want to experience daily afternoon thunder showers, you don't go between the months of June, and September. -_-
Just came back from a week vacation at Universal Orlando. It was my first time ever going there. My best friend and I stayed at the Royal Pacific for the unlimited express pass. I had been to Disneyworld twice before but (many) years ago. The way Universal was packed reminded me of the crowds I had encountered at Disneyworld way back when. Universal was SLAMMED...like the streets of Manhattan at 5PM rush hour. I told my best friend "I think all the Disney people are HERE." He agreed. I think the sentiments in the statements from Disney you covered are pure raw sewage. They are not fooling ANYBODY with their apathetic narratives. I think Disney will face shareholder lawsuits once their patrons get sucked into the Epic Universe vortex. 🌪🌪🌪
Next year will be the age of universal
As someone who prefers Disney to Universal (but is a fan of both), we’re absolutely gonna see history repeat itself. Even after HP, Universal is still very much a one or two day excursion on a Disney trip, but Epic Universe will likely change that.
At this point, I think Disney’s best bet is to find an outside video game IP to compete with Nintendo at Universal. The natural choice is Sonic, considering his history of rivalry with Mario and it also being a family friendly brand, but I think Fortnite could also work considering Disney just sunk a billion dollars into Epic Games.
