I think that's the most epic international table tennis match I've ever seen. Very well played both. And - at last - Mizutani didn't choke! Let's hope he gets some mental strength from this.

I really thought Joo could win his second title in a row given the opponents in the other semi-final and the fact that he hadn't lost to Mizutani since the 2009 Korea Open but this time Jun was much more agressive and went for Joo's forehand chop with deep topspins making it hard to counterattack. Still it's amazing how Joo is still playing and I'm looking forward on watching him at the Olympics team event.
Shoot, I was rooting for Joo. He is playing extremely well in recent times. I love Mizutani, but it is hard not to support Joo - the all time great (probably greatest) defender.
it's sad that he didn't get picked for the olympics though

Really? Joo is the Mayweather of TT. Effective but Boring as fuck to watch. Atacking players are and always will be the ones who give spectacle.

Who is the attacker here exactly? Most of the time it felt like Joo was attacking with his chops and Mizutani defending to stay in the point with his topspins...

They are professional table tennis player, Joo has a good mental strength, so i think his mooning isn't really efficient. Moreover, Joo has always won against Mizutani during a lot of years even though Mizutani was mooning :)

思い切り良くドライブしてますが、コースがワンパターンですね｡カットマンを左右にゆさぶれてないから緩いドライブを打ちかえされています｡むきになって打っているようにしか見えない｡もっと相手を動かさないといけないと思います。
いや、ついこないだのクロアチアオープンでそれやってボロ負けしたんだよ。ムキになってるように見えるけど、カットマン相手にはミドル狙うのはセオリーで、前回と違って今回は終始ミドル中心に全力に近いドライブで攻め立ててた。要所でしっかりコース狙ってたし、こないだの敗戦見たら今回の戦術は良かったと思うよ。ここまでやってギリギリだったわけだからこれはジュセヒョクさすがというべきだろうね。
もっとよく見ろ。実に効果的なコース取りだよ。

この動画だけ見てても分かることだけど、朱選手は左右に揺さぶった時が滅法強い。それを抜きにしてもカットマン相手にはミドルは効果的。卓球はそんな単純じゃないんだよ^ - ^
