I have a Riello burner. Both the boiler and the tank are in my basement. The oil line from the tank runs up the wall across the ceiling and down to the burner. After changing the filters I couldn’t bleed the line with the burner pump. I ran the burner using your method of an alligator clip on 5 and 6 so it would continuously power the burner and it wouldn’t pull the oil through the line. I Ended up purchasing a small penzoil hand pump that came with two hoses, one for in and one for out. Low and behold I connect the penzoil hand pump to the bleeder valve and oil started to flow. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and mechanic tricks. Thank you!
I think the first time I worked on a Riello I was 15 years old. I'm 17 now and sure could've used this video. Took a little while to figure out how to get the pump off. But, success in the end. I am also not a HVAC technician, just needed to help a neighbor out in a jam. ---Great videos, very informative!
I find becket is easier to work on and not as temperamental riello. Thanks for all your videos . It's nice to find guys out there willing to help us newer techs .
Nice series Steven, I realy learned alot. I find doing smoke adustment anoying on Riellos havind to adjust with the cover off and test with it on... Do you have any sugestions for doing smoke on these burners?
Great series! Any plans for a video on servicing/repairing the control box? After all its a simple mechanism that could be improved upon with an Arduino. Activate blower, x seconds later activate spark, followed by fuel solenoid activation a fraction of a second later. Etc. A potentially interesting project.
Steven - thanks for all your videos. It looked like you had a two line system - similar to a Tiger Loop. If so, would you still need to prime the pump?
Which do you like better Reillo or Beckett? Around here Reillo just came out when oil was going out of favor. I have the tools but have never worked on one. Seems nowadays I'm just driving nails in oil's coffin, to bad, I liked oil (when serviced properly and in a timely fashion).

hi Steve, thank you for the great videos, My riello pump is leaking after I bleed it when I ran out of oil, I can't tell where is it leaking. Its not the hydraulic jack, I bought a new pump but my old pump has a place for the capillary tube, But the new one doesn't have a place like that. Would you kindly help or give me any guidance ?
Broke my Riello virginity a few weeks back. hahaha Bought my kit, noticed no electrodes. Do Riellos tend not to burn up electrodes? Bought a used Riello to play with and learn on. Thanks Steven great series!!
Hey Steve, My Riello 40 series turns on, but no fire, then turns off after about 30 seconds or so. I have checked the cad sensor, replaced the nozzle and primed the pump, but to no avail. I just watched your series and I'm thinking of a bad oil valve solenoid, seems to be stuck closed, as there is no spray going on when the motor is running. I'm also suspecting a bad cad sensor relay, but this can't make sense of the symptoms, as the motor runs. Your input is appreciated

when they first startup the oil pressure is only 80 or so then once they ramp up the oil pressure goes up to 165 there lies the two speed motor .
Riellos look a ton more complex than Becketts. I know how to tune up our Beckett but I don't even want to touch a Riello, golly...
