As a member of the UPCI, posting this anonymously (my name is not Johnny Johnny) because I know how some of us are and I don't want my name to get blasted... It makes me incredibly sad to see all the fighting in this comment section. It seems anytime someone who doesn't believe what we do says something, we're very quick to attack them and we act really rude toward them.
As Pentecostals, we need to show love and encourage people to dig into the scriptures and find the truth, not force it down their throats. The reason so many people leave the church is because we can be too pushy. We focus so much on how many people we convert, that we start forgetting to actually care about people. It's really frustrating to see, and I'm so glad that a lot of the younger people in the UPCI are starting to move past this toxic behavior and spread love and kindness as Jesus would.
Some of the comments here, and other UPCI videos are disturbing. Some of our own UPCI folk are getting angry at people and calling them names! This isn't what we're supposed to do! Anger issues and name-calling have no place in your ministry!
We're starting to get bigger and better, however. God is doing really great things in our movement, and it's awesome to see where we're heading! If you are in the UPCI, and felt any tension or are upset at my comment, that is most likely conviction. Instead of writing that really mean reply, you should go to the altar and give God your attitude.

I belong to a trinitarian Pentecostal denomination but I give kudos to the UPCI. To say she has been well led is an understatement. The growth of this movement, without ever sacrificing their values and principles, is a testament to the anointing of the Spirit upon them.

When Isaiah 9:6 says that the name of Jesus will be "Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace," it is not affirming that Jesus is the FATHER, but that he has the essential characteristics of God, those that give him a special emphasis on His person. Furthermore, the FATHER is affirming in His Son the right that He has over the world. In simple words, Jesus the Son has all of God's attributes, which include His eternity; but this does not make the Son the Father or the Father the Son.
In ancient Jewish culture, names had meanings. For example, Isaac means "laughter"; Noah means "rest" or "peace" but in this verse, Isaiah is mentioning to us in a prophetic way, the characteristics and nature of the Messiah who was to come.
Now, if you believe that the name of Jesus is "Wonderful", why don't you call him by his name "Wonderful" instead of Jesus? However, the text speaks of five characteristics with their respective revelations in each of These. Again, this shows us that these are the characteristics of the Messiah to come, and the fact that the Messiah would be divine. Jesus is the Son of God and not the FATHER. We cannot make a doctrine of an isolated verse. We have to be careful when we consider an Old Testament verse to verify a doctrine that is explicitly given or revealed in the New Testament as is Jesus the Son of God, the deity of Christ. From the progress of revelation we must allow the New Testament to interpret the Old Testament and not vice versa.
This son who is given to Israel has characteristics as a Prince, as a Counselor as an eternal Father (abi-ad), or more correctly, if we adjust to the Hebrew language, "Father of Eternity", or Father forever for Israel. Here it does not refer or say that Jesus is the Father of the Son. It is a mistake to use this verse to make a doctrine and teach or affirm this.
We can see the fatherhood of God reflected throughout the Old Testament. God is a Father to Israel. We can deduce that Isaiah 9:6 along with other biblical texts had the purpose of demonstrating that absolute fidelity to God was an indispensable need for the chosen people because it was like a relationship between a father and a son. Furthermore, this evidences that in the Hebrew Scriptures it is seen that God is not just a Creator, an invincible warrior or a severe legislator. He is also a loving Father to his people, who loves them as his very dear children.
For example, in Jeremiah 3: 1-5, God rebukes his people as a father corrects his children:
3 “If a man divorces his wife
and she leaves him and marries another man,
should he return to her again?
Would not the land be completely defiled?
But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers
would you now return to me?”
      declares the Lord.
2 “Look up to the barren heights and see.
Is there any place where you have not been ravished?
By the roadside you sat waiting for lovers,
sat like a nomad in the desert.
      You have defiled the land
      with your prostitution and wickedness.
3 Therefore the showers have been withheld,
and no spring rains have fallen.
      Yet you have the brazen look of a prostitute;
you refuse to blush with shame.
4 Have you not just called to me:
‘My Father, my friend from my youth,
5 will you always be angry?
      Will your wrath continue forever?’
      This is how you talk,
but you do all the evil you can.”
Later, in a prophecy that predicts Israel's return from exile, Jeremiah utters another word from God: “They had left crying, but I bring them full of comfort; I will lead them to the streams of water ... Because I am a father to Israel and Ephraim is my firstborn "
      In Jeremiah 31: 9
      9 They will come with weeping;
they will pray as I bring them back.
I will lead them beside streams of water
on a level path where they will not stumble,
      because I am Israel’s father,
and Ephraim is my firstborn son.
      Jeremiah 3: 18-20
18 In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel, and together they will come from a northern land to the land I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.
      19 “I myself said,
“‘How gladly would I treat you like my children
and give you a pleasant land,
the most beautiful inheritance of any nation.’
I thought you would call me ‘Father’
and not turn away from following me.
20 But like a woman unfaithful to her husband,
so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me,”
      declares the Lord.
Also, on certain occasions, the people addressed God invoking his favor as Father: “Lord, you are our father; we are the clay, you are our potter; We were all made by yourself! "
      In Isaiah 64: 8
8 Yet you, Lord, are our Father.
      We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
In Deuteronomy 8: 5-6 God educates and corrects Israel as a father does his son:
5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
6 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him.
      Psalm 103: 13
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
      so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
There are certainly beautiful texts in the Old Testament that present God as Father, but they are not as many as in the New Testament, especially in the Gospels. For Jesus the Son, the reality of God as Father was supreme, a tender Father who is willing to forgive sins. Christ once said to his disciples, in Mark 11:25
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your FATHER also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your FATHER which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
LMMT, Isaiah 9:6 is not proof that Jesus is the Father or the Father of the Son. This verse only shows us that the son that will be given to Israel is going to be LIKE a loving, protective Father who is going to be with them forever and ever etc, etc. Just like the other verses that I presented to you that speak of God's relationship with Israel as a father.
      Jesus is not the FATHER!
      God Bless!

Of course, Bishop GT Haywood is conveniently omitted from the story. If I did not have members of my family around... who knew the whole story I would not know... It is easy to paint a false narrative of what happened in the beginning. A lot of information is left out. While the UPCI making process in terms of their racial relationships. There are many brown and black people in countries where your missionaries have gone where they left as though the preacher looked down on them... They could preach to them, but they could not eat with them... They learned Bible salvation, but they saw something else... This is disappointing. If you are going to tell the story tell the real entire story.

Since this scripture is often married (Cherry-picked) with John 3:1-5.... how do people Birth themselves?
The command in Acts 2:38, is to Repent.
(receive) baptism... because self-baptism isn't possible
(receive) the Spirit... because self-spirit-baptism isn't possible.
Obey Acts 2:38 - is really about repentance, that is the command in the Greek.
In it's context however, this word was given to law-obeying, devout Jewish men (Acts 2:5), who had no reason to repent (turn away).... except for their belief of Jesus (Acts 2:22-23, 36).
Rather than recognizing Jesus as the Son of God, as Peter had previously confessed, they crucified Him in their hearts and had him killed like a heretic and false teacher - of this they had to repent. These Devout Jewish Men... much like the religious of our day, had a wrong view of Jesus the Jewish Messiah. (Nicodemus did too, he thought Jesus was only a teacher.)
So yes, if by obey Acts 2:38 - you mean repent (turn away) from your religiosity and recognize who Jesus really is, as the Son of God and be fully immersed in Him (BAPTIZO in Greek), you are absolutely correct.
If you mean the UPCI meaning of... otherwise you can't be saved, you would be wrong. John 3:1-5 says nothing of Baptism, John 3:22, 4:1-2 however does. And Nicodemus was never told by Jesus or his Disciples to come be baptized, he was told to be born of the Spirit and the Water. He could just as easily had been invited to the baptism of the day.
      Just something to chew on.
UPCI came from PAJC and PCI, PAJC was 3-stepper Pentecostal (Repent, baptised, Holy Ghost) for salvation, PCI was 1-stepper (Repent) for salvation. This was an issue of contention - www.1stapostolic.org/PDF/PentecostalHerald194512.pdf - page 6.... "Articles on such subjects as the new birth will be accepted, whether they teach that new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consist of baptism of water and Spirit" - Pentecostal Herald, UPC, 1945.

@@arc-michaelr9580 The Word " recieve", in the N.T.s original Greek, means " to take hold of". The great protestant error is that any act of obedience man might do in order to be saved is a " work". The reformers in their zeal to escape the " saved by works" of the catholics went too far the other way and fell into the error of salvation without obedience.
If anything we might do in order to be saved is a " work" why repent ? Repentance isn't something God makes us do just because we believe the gospel message. It is something we must do out of our free will.
The protestants error also attempt to divide the gospel plan of salvation into two plans instead of one by insisting that Acts 2:38 is for jews and Roman's ch. 10 is for gentiles. If that were the case in apostolic times it would be today as well. The Word itself says that there is, " One Lord, one faith, and one baptism" ( Eph.4:5 )
The plan of salvation taught in Acts 2:38 by the apostles, including Paul in Acrs ch.19, has never changed and are not " works" to somehow earn salvation but acts of obedience essential for us to recieve," take hold of", the free gift of salvation.

Yet, studying the history of this people it often marvels me that the details of the meager that took place in 1945 between the PCI and the PAJC is often ignored. Over the years the views of the PCI have been marginalized while the views of PAJC have gone to extreme. I would have preferred the UPCI to maintain the PCI views which regarded other believers in Jesus as recipients of Salvation in essence too. The PAJC views which now reign in the UPCI seems to exclude other believers who have not come to the full truth of Baptism in Jesus name and Holy Ghost Baptism with tongues as unregenerated or maybe candidates of Hell.

“A bridge too far” is correct. This video is twisted in its approach to defending oneness theory as Pentecostal. The original Pentecostals like Paul the Apostle and those in the beginning of Azusa Street revival were correct in saying the oneness theories are a “bridge too far”.
When you jump over scriptures in their context into a pretext that is consummated by your presupposition, you have left scripture as your basis for your doctrine.
No matter how much twisting of history or colorful managing of Trinity truth found in God’s word, you always come up with doctrines of men when it concerns Unitarian or Oneness beliefs. It does matter any difference in the two, false plus anything never = truth.
Jesus bridged the gap between us and God. Jesus is God and always was God and always will be God, but He will never be in the position of the Father who is God in heaven. And yes God is one God! This is one reason it is easy to understand when Jesus said when you have seen me you seen the Father. They are one Divine Nature. But they are 2 personalities. Jesus therefore could say I do nothing of myself but only what the Father tells me. That is two my friend, and to say Jesus was not truly God is absolutely Anti-Christ. If you believe an early Pentecostal the Apostle Paul. And I Do!

Most of UPCI people are fooled. They think that Water baptism cleanse the sins away, but not the blood of Jesus. But here we have those people in Mizoram, India

Great story indeed- as a student and preacher we simply need more well done documentaries- its sda to search a group- denomination and see a million negative vdies before you can find a simple historical video [Im well aware of the doctrinal debate] but this video is good

If tongues is the evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost, why don't we see the other evidence? The sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and what appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Why don't we see the cloven tongues like as of fire & hear a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind?

I’m in the upci also. I struggle with the same thing. Anytime I’m about to do something sexually that’s not holy in the eyes of God, I try to remember that God is right there watching me. And don’t try to fight it. Because if we try to fight it, then we’ll lose. The Bible tells us to run from it. Which means to do something else with your time. Such as reading your Bible, praying, walking, exercising, and maybe video games. Hoped this helped❤️

The UPCI articles of faith are not biblical:
II Timothy 3:16 as basis in total plenary verbal inspiration is incorrect.
baptism as THE condition for salvation is not biblical.
modalism and sole oneness are inaccurate human perceptional god descriptions just like trinity, duality, eternal family, evolutional deity and arianism.
the uninterpreted usage of glossolalia in services.
the Name jehovah (or yahweh) is just interpretation.
mandatory monetary tithing is not biblical.
the UPCI eschatology is not clearly explained and mixes the harvest and the second coming on earth of IHM.

Scriptures can express Oneness and Trinity on The Godhead...Now is not the time for the Body Of Christ Believers to bring schism/division over the Godhead. With the One World Religion (anti-christ NWO) at hand we need to unite like Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane/That we be One as The Father And Son Are One ❤

According to some of our Jewish Messianic Brethren Believers refers to the Godhead as a Compound Unity…. True there is only One doctrine and that is the death burial and resurrection of Yeshua Hamashiach Aramaic Hebraic Name Jesus Christ in Greek translation…just dialoguing

Not the birthplace LOL""" the day of Pentecostwas the birthplace. I personally have ancestors that were Apostolic in dress and doctrine as well spoke in tongues in the 1800's.🙄 The UPCI hasn't been Apostolic in years btw.

I’m pretty sure they are calling it the birthplace of upci fellowship. Of course they aren’t saying that Azuza street was the first time the HolyGhost was poured out. Just the first time a revival broke out in that area that birthed the upci fellowship. There may be some upci that has wondered from the apostolic doctrine but all the churches my church fellowships with does preach and teach apostolic doctrine. I have ancestors that walked and talked apostolic but didn’t call themselves apostolic or belong to any fellowship group. Please don’t judge the whole fellowship by people who have wondered from the apostolic doctrine.
