Boats probably saved my life as a kid. My childhood was crazy to say the least. I lived near the water and I would go and just "look" at the boats. It was so comforting and healing. It was quiet just like this video (thanks for that!) There was a boat just like this one named 'Tinkle'. I remember it well. Time changes everything but my memory can recall it like it was yesterday. I was so hoping at the end of the video it would show a miraculous restoration back to new. Clearly, that is never going to happen... If I had the time and money, I would haul it away and launch it for one last, but short, quick moment on the sea and let it rest in peace below the waves and let her return to the elements form which she came... Looks like she’s ready for a Viking funeral. Someone had a lot of fun on her back in the day. I miss those old wood boats. Try finding a shipwright that can duplicate the craftsmanship that was put in to those old crafts. They’re few and far between now.
Looks like an eastern shore of Maryland build boat... likely built by a family on Tighman Island that produced several during the mid 50's. There's one up here in Maine... larger, but built in that same characteristic way... like a crab work boat.
Wow! If you prefer work over recreation this is an ideal project. The only reusable parts of this one are the lines which are probably available somewhere in a dusty archive. But, hey, this is the stuff of dreams and what is life without a dream. Leo took on a bigger one with Tally Ho and he bought it for a buck.

i was looking that video and that boat look a like the one my dad build in key west about 20 years ago then in 2017 we live in the keys we got hit by hurricane irma and sunk and destroy my dad boat ,about that time my dad got alzheimer's and thanks god he never get see hes boat destroy by mother nature,my still a live now ,hes 84 yrs old and pretty sure he was devastated is he ever get to see hes boat ,destroy by a hurricane,happy new year 2025
From all I've found, and it's not much... the last one- a 24' lap-strake "sea-skiff" is sitting in my building under shrink wrap right now, in it's original cradle from 1961, and I'm restoring the original Graymarine S225/ Rambler 327 engine for it (over the last three years or so). If anyone has information or has seen another one in ANY CONDITION, I'd sure love to know about it.
@@cherjohnson5807 I am not sure about that wood being good quality, I would say they used lower quality to build the working boats since they always got damaged and pieces needed to be replaced quickly and affordably. That's my 2 cents though, I don't know much 🙂

The construction is very similar to the boats that were built at the marina where I work as a mechanic in Ossining NY.
