    Thanks Mike, another quality video.
I met Jessie in a nail bar of all things getting my corn dressed and a pedicure in June 2023.
I had an informative informal meeting with John and Jessie in September - very impressed.
I'm sitting on the fence at the moment until all the rule changes are known.
I have spent 11 weeks in Madeira, on four visits, since the middle of June.
Eighteen visits since 2001 - that tells me something - I should move!
My wife passed away last March at 56 so there is not much stopping me apart from the fact
I'm 73 and got some medical issues which is a bit of a complication.
On a side note - it is very difficult to talk Portuguese as most people would say talk English
or in my case Jockanese (I'm Scottish).
    Thanks again

Ah what an exotic meeting point Alex :)
I'm glad you found your meeting with John and Jessie in September informative.
I do understand your sitting on the fence at the mo', it's no small decision is it, but having spent 18 visits since 2001 does seem to be telling you you're not likely to go off it at least.
We're so very sorry to hear your wife passed away last March, that's really not so long ago, it can't be an easy time for you.
We'll be backwards and forward to Madeira for a while between travelling, so do drop us a line when you're next in Funchal and if we're around perhaps we can meet for a coffee and ponder on future life with you?
We'll do our best to understand your Jockanese!!

Why do people move to Madeira, and what are the new rules in 2024? Property expert John Mather takes us through why and how people make Madeira their new home.

Great information and views. The walk & talk was perfect. I still need to get more info on NHR but I haven’t given up on the idea of living in Portugal.

I really enjoy your videos. My husband and I just purchased a home there in Prazeres this past Nov. Our plan is to relocate early next year. I am a Realtor here in Florida. I would love to look you up when we are there again.

Thanks Yvonne, Mike & John 🙂
That was a great & informative video, especially clearing up the true facts of the Golden Visa & also about immigration to the island as I've noticed in certain Facebook groups, there seems to be a backlash against North Americans of late.
Have a wonderful week my friends 🤗

Hi there Rue, ah yes we like the idea of putting all viewpoints forward, that's our hope and to help clear things up for folk too. BTW, we've been continuing to enjoy your Bangladesh videos too. Dhaka is just like we remember India to be when we were visiting over 10 years ago. I can only imagine how much it's changed. Even though it was India and not Bangladesh, you bring a lot of those memories back, in the general atmosphere. We do remember stopping over in Bangladesh and feeling that we were in the company of the warmest hearted people we had ever encountered. Keep them coming won't you mate.

Blimey! My family is from there. I don't speak Portuguese, though. If they have a language school there, I might go.

    Love these videos John
    Very vrry helpful.
My goal is to take a trip out there, and eventually buy a property,
To rent out, until i move over full time.
I would be using the prop 3 weeks in the yr.
Are therr any natural disasters that can happen? Earthquakes etc?

Hello there, thanks for dropping by. We wish you the very best with that. Do keep in touch, perhaps our paths will cross someday. No natural disasters apart from the odd landslip on a road after a heavy rainfall.

Thanks, Mike & Yvonne, for another great video. We really enjoyed the conversation with John - as well as the route you chose for your walk. Having stayed just around the corner from John's office during our visit in December, we found ourselves wanting nothing more than to be back in Madeira!
