Hey--this is fiction. The FBI vs. the local cops is a standard plot device in crime novels and movies. Sometimes the "Feebs" are the heroes and the locals are corrupt. Sometimes the locals are heroic and skeptical and the FBI is bureaucratic and untrustworthy and clueless. And sometimes it is the FBI vs. the CIA. Usually the CIA or Homeland Security is corrupt and dishonest and the FBI is tracking them down for breaking federal law for their own corrupt political reasons. The basis of drama is CONFLICT.

Bosch novels are always great. This one is absolute gold. And the narration and accompanying music are platinum. Such an excellent story!
