I’ve only swallowed them a couple of times 🤢 but I started to take a Q-tip and wet it or take the flat end of one of those blackhead tools and pop them out. I used to gag a lot at first but I’ve gotten used to it and can remove them easily with no pain or discomfort. I’ve noticed I get more when I drink milk.

Some tips to prevent tonsil stones that work for me.
    1. Besides the obvious brushing teeth in the morning/night. When brushing tongue, brush it as good as you can, gag a lot if you have to, it will loosen the stones.
    2. Buy a tongue scraper (the metal ones are the best)
    2. Get a curved syringe (like the ones they give you after you get wisdom teeth removed) squirt water directly at your tonsils after you eat to prevent them building up.
    3. I know ppl suggest a water pik but unless it’s at a very low setting, it can actually cause your tonsils to bleed. The syringe is better.
    4. Saltwater rinse. I find listerine didn’t help at all. The salt water gets rid of bacteria and also soothes throat.
    5. Drink water! I know this is obvious but when you’re eating, drink water to make sure you’re flushing all your food down and reduce chances of food sitting on your tongue.
I haven’t got any in almost 3 weeks since I started doing this. And I stick my tongue out to smell my breath (idk if that makes sense) and I don’t smell that tonsil stone smell so I know I don’t have any.

I agree with almost everything you said except I wanted to add to #5 that some people with Gastrointestinal problems can't drink water with their meal also just because you can't see them doesn't mean their not their. When I wear a mask I smell them so I decide to poke my tonsils and voila 3 came out. Unfortunately for some people like me you need surgery. I heard some people have had good results by omitting lactose, sugar and carbohydrates out of their diet. Try the keto diet some people have had good results from it.

    • @berthaflored8948
      @berthaflored8948 ปีที่แล้ว

@Ally Carraway I can't smell them on my tongue because I use a tongue scraper religously. When I don't use a mask I can't smell the ones in my throat. But boy when I wear a mask not only does my head hurt, I feel like I'm going to pass out.

I have invented a good way to get them out. Take an empty tube from a sample sized toothpaste, punch a tiny hole in the cap. Fill it with water and squish the tube while aiming at tonsil stones, the stream of water will get them out... I was struggling for so many years getting them out with picks until I got this idea. Now they are not much of an issue anymore

Stephen Seychell I ate oatmeal and a banana in the morning, bagel and a green smoothie (pineapple, spinach, kale and mango) and rice with chicken and salad, and yogurt with berries and grains. First though, you need to get it out, and to make it stop coming I guess you just eat that for a while. After two months of eating that, i ate the same stuff I would normally eat. It stopped coming for me. ❤️ Although I'm not an expert in that kind of stuff, I really hope your tonsils come out and they stop coming. You need to get it removed by gargling salt water or putting your finger inside of it and popping it out

As someone who constantly has tonsil stones, when they get too uncomfortable I go to the ent doctor for them to take them out. They told me that a reason some people are more prone to having these is because of the way your tonsil is made, some people have way more "holes" in their tonsils so it's easier for food to get stuck there, but it also means that you're less likely to be sick all the time cause they also grab a lot of germes. All in all, super uncomfortable, you look crazy making faces trying to get them out and when they get out it's worth a mini celebration, but it never caused me actual health problems

Another way to help remove the stones is to use a glass (carefully) or hard acrylic medicine dropper (soft tube doesn't work). Gently squeeze the bulb, place the tip of the dropper on the stone, and release the bulb. The suction should grab hold of the stone and pull it out or suck it into the tube itself. Repeat if necessary.

I was able to remove mine with the tail of a teaspoon. At first, It was very hard to overcome the gag reflex, but no matter how sensitive you are, if you do it little by little, you do get used to it. In order to make it easier, I used ice, both in my mouth and on the teaspoon aswell so it made it a lot easier to work. I simply scraped the soft and stinky stones off the tonsils, gargled non-alcooholic mouthwash and I completely got rid of the discomfort I used to feel before.

I used to think there was nothing I could do about tonsil stones other than "popping them out". I could smell my breath was putrid and it gave me social anxiety talking to other people. There is a solution people - get a curved tip syringe and squirt water with it at your tonsils. It washes them out. I've been doing this for a couple of years now daily and although it's a pain, I don't need to worry about bad breath anymore. Life changing.

I ended up having to get my tonsils removed due to my tonsil stones at the age of 22. Always had problems with my tonsils and ulcers, but once I reached my twenties, the stones became recurring. Went to an ENT and explained my situation of having a few tonsil stones about once a week. He looked in my throat for 5 seconds and was like “yeah those need to come out”. Get them removed 2 weeks later and he told me one pocket was just filled to the brim with them and causing irritation and swelling. Since then I haven’t had any problems with my throat in regards to soreness.

I do a combination of this and sometimes it may take a few days or more for it to go away. But mine always come out from coughing especially when I’m bending over or my throat is angled downward. when you feel it loose keep coughing and don’t breathe in with your mouth use your nose to breathe in and keep coughing it out till it moves forward and expels out of your mouth. Hope this works as it did for me. 💗💗

Alright, this comment is hopefully to help people that are getting annoyed with their tonsil stones. First off, let me start out by saying I've been dealing with tonsil stones for many years, since I was a child. I know how annoying they can be, having that feeling of something in the back of your throat. And sometimes you just cant get them out. Luckily I have a rather simple, yet effective solution. The thing about this video I don't agree with is that he says removing your tonsils is for severe or extreme cases. Trust me when I say this, get your tonsils removed. It is so worth it. Just make sure you tell your doctor how annoying it is to have, and ask for an ENT to see if you can get those taken out. Once they are out, Im not going to lie, it is going to be a very VERY hard 10 day recovery if you are an adult. The healing process is pretty painful, but please dont let that scare you off. After those 10 days, you will never have to deal with tonsil stones again. I did it, and I'm a wuss when it comes to pain. I know you can do it too. If you need any advice or have any questions regarding tonsil stones please ask.

    • @slashedflyer8460

As for the price of the surgery, I do know that its a very simple procedure. The ENTIRE surgery only lasts between 15-30 minutes, and they put you to sleep so you dont feel a thing. I assume the surgery will be fully covered by your insurance, but dont quote me on that. And yes, there is a simply way to deal with tonsil stones other then surgery. HOWEVER the down side to this method as that your tonsil stones will still come back, and you will have to deal with them for the rest of your life. You can buy water picks to help push out the tonsil stones, as well as using long cotton swabs to massage the area. However, even after they are removed, they will eventually come back. If you want to be completely cured, you must get your tonsils completely removed. Like I said, its a very hard and painful recovery, but luckily they will give you top of the line pain killers. I guess the best way to describe the pain is like having strep throat for 10 days, it isnt fun. But after those 10 days, you will never see another tonsil stone again. :) I hope this helps. And good luck.

So I have a question. A lot of articles say go see an ENT and while they do get them out quickly, no one can afford going every time they have a tonsil stone. At least for those of us that get them all the time. So my question is, is why has no one invented a small vacuum like the ENT has for individuals to purchase? I have look everywhere and there isn't one legit tonsil stone remover that has suction and for those of us with bad gag reflexes, the suction makes it so much easier and quicker.

    - Brush your teeth at LEAST twice a day. Floss and make sure u brush your tongue.
    - Use therabreath mouthwash twice a day. Trust it works. My dentist recommended it i think its the main reason why mine are gone
    - Remove them with silicone or something completely smoothe. If u use qtips it can damage ur skin and actually causes them to get worse due to bacteria around the wound
    - drink lots of water. Dry mouth will contribute
    - gargle with salt water after you eat if possible. If not make sure you drink lots of water especially after meals :)

Gosh, these things made me paranoid that I was ill and needed a tonsillectomy. Nasty little buggers, you can help them get out by using the opposite end of the toothbrush and press the nearby tissues. This can pop them out a bit while you dislodge them with a q-tip or finger. Gargling with salt water afterwards if there is irritation or tiny amount of bleeding. Avoid mucus provoking things like smoking/vaping, cows milk and other dairy products may be a culprit. Try a week or 2 off of cheese and milk, yogurts and such...it might prove the mucus is from that. Also heavy consumption of fried foods can contribute. White coating on the tounge is common in American diet, heavy on fat, dairy ect. Try vegetarian eating for a while also. Lay off butter, cream, milk and cheese and too much burger, fries and pizza. Sounds lame but it works on that tounge coating.
Gargling with Listerine might be good too. Chew gum to keep saliva flowing and rinsing the back of the mouth and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. They are stinkers!

I would gargle and brush and gargle some more…then I realized I could get them out.(Yucky but better than more strep throat) It helped, but i still had to get my tonsils out at age 27.

A few centimeters long sounds pretty intense. I'm glad I don't get those!

I remember as a kid when was in the bathroom I opened my mouth and look in the mirror and saw the first tonsil stone I ever had. I showed my parents and they got concerned especially my mother and told me not to eat any chips for fear I might swallow it. But of course I had chips and the rest is history.
Afterwards my mother took me to the doctor and he told us there was nothing to worry about.

I got my tonsils removed and it was the best decision of my life! No more snoring, no more tonsil stones, haven’t had a sore throat or strep throat in years! If tonsil stones and frequent sore throats are an issue for you, have them removed ASAP, your quality of life will dramatically improve

I heard things about getting tonsils removed from someone. Does tonsillectomy really increase the weight?

Wait me too!! I distinctly remember coughing one up in middle school and thinking, "Huh. This must be part of my brain." I don't know why I was so quick to accept that as normal.

I’m buying a syringe so I can flush my tonsils out soon. Hopefully it’ll help the bad breath and stone formation.

I wet a q tip and just poke my tonsils a bit! I have a strong gag reflex so I thought it’d be hard but it was easy! I used to have a water pick but threw it out after I got braces removed. If you wanna do it right away at home I suggest a wet q tip!!
