- Continuing on from The mistake all boat owners make. Motor wasn't serviced before winter and the lower unit cracked open. In this video we fix that crack and test out the motor and give results. Make sure you are changing that lower unit oil BEFORE winter and if your boat sits outside store the motor in the DOWN position!

You did a excellent job on that lower unit!!!!!
Thank you!
New glaras is awesome my favorite is spotted cow I Live in Minnesota but drive to Wisconsin to buy my beer. Awesome work on the lower unit keep up the great work
Thank you very much! Spotted cow is very good! One of my favorites as well. I do like to try them all, some are surprising good even if they don't sound good.
Nice repair. I like how you struggle for words at times. Just like I do. 🙂 I do need to learn how to TIG weld
Thank you! Terminology always gets me. I am involved in to many different trades and the terminology is sometimes similar between them but yet different. Then many times I just plain don't know lol.
You did a great job on that lower unit sounds good
Thank you!
I took my hole to boat to a guy with a aluminum welder. He draied the oil a piled a huge weld on. Groumd it down a little and sprayed paint on it. Looks better than the rest of the boat and doesnt leak.
Nice repair and funny af, too 🙂
Thank you! I'm trying to include humor as much as I can. I watch to much AVE and vise grip garage and I find myself saying things they would say a lot.
@@VPTfabI was thinking this guy is a Wisconsin version of Ave 👍
Whats the red stuff you used
That is just a spot putty body filler. Just to smooth it out before paint.
That end Play you referenced can be shimmed out
Check the parts list
@@matthewsmith7319 For the prop shaft? I believe it should have some endplay. I didn't actually look at the manual to see how much. Figured it shouldn't have changed since I didn't change anything with the shaft or bearings. Good point though for something that should be checked.
@@VPTfab minimal end play is desirable of course with any moving parts there will be a degree of wear and or play however I know Yamaha motors have shim washer kits to take up that play keeping the gearbox feeling noticeably more positive in engagement and rotation happier for longer.
