I’ll jump in to thank Body Solid for great customer service. I have at about a 20 year old EXM-2750S with keg attachment multi station that is still “solid.” I had a cable finally wear out, called them, not expecting they’d still have them , but voila! Great helpful attitude. Been watching all the focus on Rogue, Rep, etc, and thinking of upgrade. Its been super reliable but thought its time to check out what Body Solid has to offer.

I ended up getting a 1980’s old school bench that weighed at least 150 pounds by Body Solid in 2012. This bench had a flat, incline, decline, as well as a leg attachment. I was missing a pin that would hold the bench in all its different positions as well as another out of stock part (For Decades) for the base. Long story short, I called Body Solid customer service. I ended up speaking to a gentleman in their parts room in a warehouse, and this employee went out of his way looking for discontinued parts for this bench. I was in contact with him for over two weeks as he searched the warehouse until he found both of these discontinued parts. Body Solid sent me the parts for free as well free shipping because they love their equipment to just be out there being used. I usually do not take the time to write any sort of comments but this Company when you talk about customer service is right up there with Rep, Fringe. Bells etc. It is about time they start getting their recognition in the Home Gym Community.

I bought this because the Ares 2.0 changed one of the crossbars that would interfere with my ceiling joists in the basement. I was working with 1/4" clearance considerations. I got the Body Solid GPRFTS for $2584 and the GLEG bench for $501 during a sale. I originally had a Body Solid half/squat rack, so I knew the quality was there and was comfortable with this company. This thing fits all of my needs and I agree with most everything on this video. I don't mind the nylon rollers but I've also never used aluminum ones either. I think this is a great purchase especially if you are height constrained. The GLEG is meh, but it does the job and is maybe like one of 2 benches on the market that do what it does. The rollers are too close together and on the wrong side so that's a little frustrating but GLEG 2.0 should fix that, or any other company offering if they make their own bench. So overall, is it as good or better than Rep or Rogue, probably not. I've never used either. Is it a great power rack? Absolutely. Is it incredibly time consuming and frustrating to put together? Absolutely.

Body solid stuff is okay for a home gym (still think rogue and rep offer better quality and value), body solid stuff is very expensive for the quality of product you get. However if you go to their corporate store most of their products are priced 50%-60% off making it more appealing.

I've had the GRP for 4 years and picked up the FT attachment and GLEG Bench a few months ago. I returned the FT attachment and sold the bench - both at a huge loss. The Trainer felt too cheap and the bench took up too much space in addition to having less than ideal ROM. I was super bummed but I'm glad your video confirmed basically everything I was frustrated with. Waiting on a Prime HLP now.

The GLeg concept is amazing, and I rather purchase that than to waste money on those crappy plate-loaded seated Leg extension/curl machines that costs $600+ when it can't even do what it is meant to do without having to do some type of DIY hack.

Comparing the price of a 4 post Ares to this doesn’t make sense. A 4 post Ares does not function as a power cage. A 4 post Ares is a functional trainer that kind of also works as a lat tower low row. This Body Solid option has a fully functional power cage plus functional trainer. A sensible price comparison where both options have similar functions is a 6 post Ares 1.0 on a 4000 rack. In that case, the Ares costs $3234 currently(Black Friday with 30% off the Ares and 10%off the rest) or over $4000 outside of Black Friday. Compare that to buying this Body Solid option for $2720 currently, probably much lower once their Black Friday sale drops(they had a 20% off sale last month, so I would guess this would come down to $2100 or less). Body Solid is much less expensive and they warranty the entire thing for life. Cables eventually will need to be replaced as will pulleys. Frame components can break. Body Solid will replace any part that wears out for your entire lifetime. With Rep, I doubt they will even carry Ares 1.0 components in a few years when they are selling Ares 5.0 or whichever model they are on by then.

For the complaint about the stretch on the leg extension & leg curl features, just put 1-2 in padding under your legs to elevate your knees. Whether that be a folded shirt, bar pad for hip thrusts, etc. that solves that problem, you’re welcome.

I own the gpr400. Comes very well packaged and is stable as any rack out there out of the box. Not one scratch or imperfection out the box. I don't know exactly how a rep or rogue rack is higher quality other than numbers on the uprights. Not talking about the functional trainer just the rack. Bodysolid makes tons of attachments for the rack also. Don't know why you couldn't use it in a commercial setting either other than it is designed for low sealings.

    • @Peter.Blacksmith
      @Peter.Blacksmith หลายเดือนก่อน +1

ATX is a German brand, but its factories are in China. Only a small part of the equipment is manufactured in Germany. I am from Europe, I have a TRIPLEX Workout Station (ATX-WSX-670 Triplex). I'm not saying it's a bad brand, on the contrary ─ they have solid equipment, but willing to compromise between price and quality, they produce equipment in China, which has much cheaper electricity and labor costs. Another thing - ATX has no distribution points in the US.

The stack design is way way better than reps. I'll never understand why rep put the weight stack in the middle thus blocking that section of a mirror placed behind the rack. It's a massive design flaw no one seems to mention. I want to be able to fully see myself when I'm in the hole.

Absolutely Right on about Body Solid, I've been saying everything you said in this video for a ling time. They just out price themselves
Budget equipment with High Tier prices. Honestly, I don't see how they are still in business, why would someone pay their prices for just so so stuff. I don't get it.
Only thing I dont like is how you love and praise Rogue so very much, it got old fast with me, especially when they price gouge us so bad.
I think you do honest reviews on everything now except Rogue, you pump them up and it's tired man, real tired.

Rogue prices are expensive but their equipment is made in the USA in Ohio. Rep charges similar prices for stuff made in China. Seems Rep is gouging more than Rogue.

This video is a bit deceptive for its viewers. I’m 6’4 and the pulley system on this machine isn’t high enough where I can do rope tricep extensions. I have to actually do them on my knees. Also doing cable crossovers for the upper pecks also have to be done on my knees as the handles hang an inch above my shoulders. Just an fyi to buyers out there. But…outside of the height issue I’ve tested the machine personally and it’s pretty legit. The ONLY reason I haven’t purchased it IS bc of the height restrictions.

A shorter power rack that can fit in a basement gym is a good thing. However, the price is still too high. For $1,995, I can create an entire home gym with several home gym exercise machines, and I have. There is no optimal exercise machine, because no matter how good it is, if you keep doing the same exercises with the same exercise tools, muscular accommodation will occur, which will cause your muscular endurance, size, and strength gains to stop.
This is why it makes more sense to spend less to buy a cheaper but functional power rack, half rack, or squat stand, and use the money you save to buy other functional exercise equipment, which helps you achieve different types of muscular overload, which includes by: (1) elasticity; (2) magnetic resistance; (3) increasing the range of motion (like doing deadlifts on a plyo box or doing bench presses with a cambered multi-grip bar) (4) instability training; and (5) unbalanced weight training (e.g., kettlebells, mace, or exercise hammers).

@@r1m.dog78 I recommend reading Louie Simmons book, WESTSIDE BARBELL BOOK OF METHODS, which explains why you should do squats, bench presses, and deadlifts in different ways while using different exercise tools and strength training methods to avoid muscular accommodation. For instance, along with recommending doing these lifts with resistance bands and chains, Louie Simmons even recommended doing one arm deadlifts. Vladimir Zatsiorsky also explained the problem of accommodation in his classic text on strength and conditioning, SCIENCE AND PRACTICE OF STRENGTH TRAINING.

You’re repeating unproven statements found elsewhere on the web. Muscle development doesn’t work that way. There’s a reason you can’t cite studies to prove this theory. Yes, different exercises may work different muscles, but a particular muscle doesn’t “know” the source of the resistance it is having to deal with. What people who propose this “theory” confuse is that people often get to a point where they stop pushing themselves as they gain strength, so yes their muscle development slows or remains static. The “king” Ronnie Coleman is a great anecdotal example and would also have stopped growing had he not had such incredible drive, genetics, diet , and yes steroids at some point. But he, and countless other bodybuilders and powerlifters, disprove your theory by generally just adding weight, repetitions, etc, to get bigger year after year.Ronnie did three basic exercises for decades- deadlift, squat and bench press!
