Those sandwiches have been around for a very long time in Korea. I was stationed there in '78-80 and our barmaid used to make them for us. I was quit a distance from Seoul.
It's funny how they feel they invented something. I've been making this since 2000s in my own kitchen. I'm more than sure these are way older than they say. It's just a dumb catchy name behind an already invented food.
Might have to do that the next time I go to my local Korean bakery. I think I'll brown the ham first and use chives instead of parsley though. (Chives and scrambled egg are a match made in heaven.)
I love the way your finished sandwich has such a varied play of shapes and visual textures. It is incredibly beautiful, and it was a joy to watch you create it. Thank you for sharing! ❤
The first time I had a korean potato hot dog I was unsure if the coconut sugar would work with the cheese, potato, ketchup and mustard but it was amazing!!! the sweet/savoury combo is well worth a try
Oh Emmy! If the opportunity ever arises, make a collab with the British youtubers Josh and Ollie. They have two channels: Korean Englisman and Jolly. You are all such positive people anf I'd love to see you interact, either in reacting to food or (HOPEFULLY) collaborating in creating something together.
Single Slice Egg Toast is my favorite breakfast sandwich. Split one slice of bread, dump the eggs in the pan w'green onion, add the sliced bread, than flip them over. When eggs are ready, flip the whole thing over and cook the other side. Fold egg onto bread. Now add your ham, cheese and a sauce, like STRAWBERRY JAM and fold the entire sandwich onto itself and serve. Delicious!
If you want to try this but don’t want to pan-fry the bread (for any reason), you can put two slices of regular bread in a single slot of your toaster and the middles will be warm & soft. ❤
I love Korean toast sandwiches. I made an identical one that I saw a street vendor make and it was topped with frosted flakes. At first I thought "gross", but it was delicious 😋🤤 I often now make membosa when I want a fried snack. It's so delicious. I'm saving for a Zojirushi bread maker and I'll be eating sandwiches for the rest of my life 😂 I think sandwiches are my favourite things to eat. But then I have a slight bread addiction! 🍞🥓🍳
As a Canadian I can say that your ham is just that ham. True Canadian bacon is totally different. Google peameal bacon, that is true Canadian bacon. It is wet cured unsmoked back bacon trimmed with cornmeal. It is delightful. We love a toasted Canadian bacon and cheese sandwich.
This video was great!!! Mom and I watch your videos every Sunday while having making and having lunch. I love Havarti cheese. I might try Muenster cheese.
I can never figure out, from watching many cooking shows, how people cook in stainless steel pans without their food (especially eggs) sticking. I have a beautiful stainless steel pan, much like the one Emmy is using in this video, and I've never once successfully used it without the food sticking to it. That beautiful pan has been sitting at the bottom of one of my kitchen cupboards for a few years now because I apparently don't know how to use it properly.
Yummy!! I had this for the first time this summer at a Korean food truck. The cook used a "sweet ketchup". It was so good. If anyone knows how to make sweet ketchup please let me know 😁🙏.
I really think Hellmans Mayonnaise has been changed in the UK. It used to be thick the same as it looked like in the video, but the last 3 times I have bought it here, its nowhere near as thick and you can literally pour it out of the bottle once you've used it once. That sandwich looked amazing, great video :)
I think hers might have been Miracle Whip. The blue lid is Miracle Whip, I think. I dunno. But I get Hellman’s all the time, and it looks super thick like this. Did you get the low fat one by accident? I find low fat mayos to be an odd texture.
@Drew M no, it was the usual Hellmans When I opened the jar, it was thick, but the next day, it was like a custard consistency. I'm in the UK, so it could be different. It's just that it used to be really thick, but now, once the jar has been opened, it becomes sloppy.
I’m trying this for lunch today(without the ham) using some challah bread. ❤ (By the way I’ve had a grilled tomato and cheese sandwich before with brown sugar and thought how strange but once I tasted it I had to make it like that every time!)
Hey Emmy! I just have a small suggestion that could make your videos better. As a Nero divergent person I have to use the captions to understand what is being said and so do many other people. While auto captions are good it still sucks. My suggestion, if you have time and what not, is creating custom captioning! Anyways, love you Emmy, you always bring a smile to my face! ❤

Hi Emmy! Can you do a “behind the scenes” video and show us what your filming setup looks like, talk about challenges in filming, what your favorite episodes are, talk about what goes wrong, what you love about it, etc?
Ive been eating these since i was little lol but instead i use miracle whip and make the eggs into more of a scramble and mix it in that way to get it everywhere. No dry spots. Nomnomnom!!!!
Perhaps cutting it less would make it look better but personally I think I'd like the filling to go as close to the bottom as possible so I'm not left with just toast as my final bites. Either way it sound like my sort of "sarnie".
A big regret of mine after visiting Korea was not knowing about street toast. I saw several signs that said "Toast" but I didn't know what they were offering or how they were different than the plain American toast I knew. I'll correct that next time.
I make these all the time i like mine with crispy bacon and brown sauce instead of mayo i never realised i was making any thing special it basically how i allways make them
I love unique foods! In MT (originally Helena) we have a fun, quirky sandwich shop called the Staggering Ox. Their sandwiches (called the clubfoot) have unique filling and sauce ingredients, and are served in a vertical, hollowed out tube of bread. (You can also order "bread guts" as a side which are the soft squishy inner bread that's removed to make the sandwiches. Yum 😋
at first I was like hmmmmmm, sweet mayo....that sounds weird.... But then I remembered the Monte Cristo, which I love, has jam in it! Okay, yeah I'm up to try this!
Looks really good, I'm gonna have to make this. Hopefully my eggs will turn out as lovely as your's did. And I keep meaning to buy Ghee, seeing how great that toasted bread looked I'm getting it my next trip to the store.
Emmy, just so that you know, Canadian bacon is called peameal bacon and it's not smoked nor does it have an artificial smoky flavor, but still a great video.
Those sandwiches have been around for a very long time in Korea. I was stationed there in '78-80 and our barmaid used to make them for us. I was quit a distance from Seoul.

Looks so yummy. I would replace the parsley with green onions.

Both the taste and texture of condense milk mayo is phenomenal. A real treat every time. Great for potato salad.
You are definitely extra. Extra special, extra kind, extra thoughtful, extra awesome youtuber !!
Hi Emmy! Can you try to do the cured egg yolk? It looks so interesting to prepare, and seems to add a delicious element to certain dishes :) ⭐
She's already done it lovely 😘 a few years ago now
it really is really good, you should try it.
Chalaza. But my sister in law calls it “the rooster.” Lol it’s just the membrane that holds the yolk to the shell.
The first time I had a korean potato hot dog I was unsure if the coconut sugar would work with the cheese, potato, ketchup and mustard but it was amazing!!! the sweet/savoury combo is well worth a try
Of course Emmy talks to her toast! ❤
I am making this soooooon.

Emmy made it pretty! I hope it tastes great!
It was great! Perfect for lunch or anytime, really.
Two fried eggs over easy with mustard and mayo mashed into a toasted and folded pita. Drippy bliss.

Ketchup is very sweet too and it goes good with eggs, so the sweet mayo makes sense
As a western Canadian I can say that we don’t call that bacon. That is just ham.
I always thought what Americans called “Canadian Bacon” was peameal bacon but yeah, that’s just ham
@@margothamilton3137 Americans were the one that came up with the term Canadian bacon.
Haha! My thoughts are confirmed. It's just ham!
It's just marketing and branding then I guess. The same way English muffins aren't English.
@@Lost_Northerner The story goes that an Englishman invented the muffin so it’s partly true I guess.
If you want to try this but don’t want to pan-fry the bread (for any reason), you can put two slices of regular bread in a single slot of your toaster and the middles will be warm & soft. ❤
Ooo...💫
Wow, never thought of that. Many thanks for the tip.✅
Or my best and most under rated kitchen friend: the sandwich press!
@@marialeotta2973 I wish I could find one without the grill ridges.
I made my scrambled eggs with cream once and never went back. So good 🤤
For extra decadence I recommend addinig just a little bit of grated cheese. Amazing eggs.
Using cream cheese, especially a flavor like garlic herb cream cheese, or even just plain sour cream is even better than just cream!
@@AloneInTheGarden How do you blend in the cream cheese evenly? The nice thing about cream is that it is easy to whisk in as you're beating the eggs.
In Canada what the us calls Canadian bacon we call it back bacon because it comes from the back of the pig
Thank you Emmy!
Why is it that when i make it myself im like, its just an egg sandwich but when i watch someone make it, it looks like a god tier sandwich 😂😂
I love Korean toast sandwiches. I made an identical one that I saw a street vendor make and it was topped with frosted flakes. At first I thought "gross", but it was delicious 😋🤤

I do have videos using peameal bacon and hauling it
Was coming to say the same thing lol! Peameal is sooo good and much better than ham.
That’s wild. I’ve never seen that type of bacon. Learn something new everyday. Ty!
Ham snobs ✌️🤣😂 I’m kidding guys, I absolutely love Canadian bacon ✌️ cheers

More butter?

I thought this was an episode about an egg drop soup breakfast. Emmy, can you make an episode about that? It's one of my favorite dishes
Yes. That sounds good. This was just a scrambled egg sandwich.
Yessss, I love a really good egg drop soup!
Personally I like that little indentation, it makes the bread look like it has cat ears!😺
lol
It's caused by the bread being slightly underbaked.

According to the Korean Englishman channel, the secret ingredient in the sauce is kiwi juice/puree!
Sarnie is a good word. We should use it more. The Earl of Sandwich really didn't invent the sarnie.
Sounds interesting...
