This is one of the most underrated racing games of all time, and was the best racing game in PSP (I played it on my phone with an emulator).I preferred it to the 2nd one because it didn't have the solar crown rubbish. This game had an insanely big and fun map, a wide variety of cars (crazy concepts, supercars, classics etc), and it felt like a quality game. The crew was close to this but the graphics and effects made it feel low quality. On PSP it was the same as the PS2 version so you could play it for months and still have fun.
What makes TDU & TDU2 such amazing games is the atmosphere of the game itself. The feeling of class & style is very fitting and apparent. One of the best things about these games is the social aspect, which actually has nothing to do with racing cars. Walking around stores, homes, dealerships, etc. makes this game very immersive and enjoyable.

This game was way ahead of its time same as TDU2. Forza should be worried about the new Test Drive game Solar Crown. Not that it's a competition. Depends what the handling is like in game.
Not only handling, but also how many things you interact with your cars. Test Drive Unlimited series allows you to manually switch on/off your cars, switching headlights, close and open windows, interior customization, ability to go to car dealerships to purchase cars instead of having overwhelming wheelspin throw at you, purchase houses, walk inside them and purchase furnitures, cop chases on free roam, car clubs etc. Forza Horizon is poor and mediocre game when putting next to Test Drive Unlimited series.
Ah same here man, I didn’t have a ssd card when I was younger so I always replay the first few races. And some how I don’t remember how, glitch the game to let me use an expensive mansion (but I could not buy it) up on a mountain and yet use the rental car for the first five races with out having to buy my first car. And I just remember the sad moment I lost the disc when I let my friend borrow it and he lost in on his trip to Florida
I was blown away when I played TDU, I’d even be more blown away if I had this Platinum. Both TDUs were my all time favorite games. They were ahead of their time
I wish more youtubers would play through TDU/TDU2, they all say its one of the best racing games ever yet theres barely any content on youtube for it. Ive just bought an Xbox 360 with the game just to play back through it myself
Nice video, Nick! Btw, if you reach 45% of game progression you unlock Hardcore Mode which is TDU's simulation mode so the driving physics change. It was huge back in 2007. You can then access it via main menu. Cheers! :)
Also, give us the vehicle list of Platinum, as well as a far better way to unlock vehicles, maybe like as prizes for winning races or for accomplishing tasks in the game?

So much memories, and YES! .. TDU1 was way better than Forza, in TDU2 u can also customize and walk in house. And TDU1 have pretty decent realistic physic if you are on wheel. Forza still need to learn much ..

House customisation is fine for what it is but the fact that it's always the first thing folks bring up (not the driving, the physics, or anything important), shows how much the games lacked in those areas. The garages were good though, I'll give the games that much and I miss them from PGR. A remaster of those games is irrelevant as they don't exist, so you're talking bollox. I could easily say a remaster of the earlier Forzas would beat a remaster of the TDU games, so try sticking to reality. The TDU games were good for their day IMO but they had a lot of flaws, especially TDU2. However they are vastly overrated by folks today who see them through rose tinted glasses. They don't hold up as well as some folks claim. Not that I expect you to see that as you're clearly a fanboy. 🙂
Looking at this it's just mind boggling how the biggest open world racing titles of today have your car collection as a slideshow of still images, and you racing in a empty world with nothing else in it beside those races. God damn I have never wished for a game to be good more than with Solar Crown.
I use to describe TDU as a car collector simulator. The collecting and social aspects of the game complemented the actual racing. Unfortunately, I believe Solar Crown is vaporware.

I've modded this game before, Platinum gives me hours of tweaking and with the powerful Database Editor there is endless hours of physics modding. I have an 950hp Mitsubishi eclipse GS Turbo like Paul Walkers in FNF 1 . I love this game!!!
I lived on Oahu and never knew about this game. What’s funny is in real life it can take over an hour to get from Ewa Beach to downtown. Not to mention all the missing homeless people. Lol
The missing homeless people are actually being sold into slavery, and/or being murdered by Satanic cults that hire serial murderers to off them, especially the ones that are not evil and insane.
The mod is genius. But the gear ratios of make the Game so difficult. Because some cars in the same classes drive over 350 Kmh and yours only 250 KmH etc.
The mod creator is on her way to update this mod. In platinum 2.0 the mod will have updated and completely rebalanced cars. There will even be a s or x class for hypercars
I played through the original on my 360 and it was amazing, online social, free roam, highways or a city straight to race on, it was magical. Tdu2 was awesome bc it included a plane ride to and from the original Hawaii map so tdu2 was basically both games but with a different car collection and about 85% the details of the tdu map. I love Forza but tdu was really where it's at, only missing the building and tuning, tdu tuning stage 1-3 is not very satisfying lol. I still keep an install of tdu2 around the pc.

There was a mission where you had to race through the entire island.
That was badass.
I completed both TDU and TDU2, both great games and loved getting all the achievements on xbox360, looking forward to the next one.
