also one thing i've noticed playing ptr is: When you go to light attack cancel with some weapons it breaks the ability i.e: the 2nd hit of maelstrom not proccing because you did an attack and cancelled into it, same happens with the new whirlwind axe: you display it here at 11:05 and it pains me to see xD
I actually had a whole part talking about that 2nd hit not going off that I cut out since wasn't 100% sure about the cause. Assumed I somehow got staggered through grit but your explanation makes a lot more sense, cheers!
You can still flick your camera around on free movement. This can let you do things like dodge swings, angled dodging, etc. Personally the reason things are feeling weird is because its new. Most hardcore war players are all on the freecam movement on live because of the advantages you get from them.
@@GenDrake3 Tricktrick was able to on live servers as a FS rapier. PTR really messed up a lot of random things but using the movement on live fixed a lot of them. Really counterintuitive
Very curious to see how many adjustments they'll make before the patch release, should be easier to adjust given the native c++ move correct? Guess their word is getting put to the test. 🙏
Yeah, it should be a lot easier. That said, knowing their usual schedule I wouldn't expect an insane amount of changes before patch release, but rather in the next patches after

Yeah it's clickbait. Only a small minority don't seem to like it. In general it feels a lot better across the board. It justs an adjustment compared to the current way we all know that's all.
This should speed up combat a bit making engaging in battles more efficient for most. Hopefully attracting those who held the perspective that New World combat was a little too slow for their taste. A good negotiation factor.
I hope people realize... that all of these "Delays", are to remove "Ability spamming" for HUGE burst damage. I can't tell you how many times someone has ran up to me with a blunderbuss and spammed all of their abilities and I die immediately with 15k health and heavy armour. It should have never worked that way in the first place. But oh, I forgot, any changes that remove something that gives you a unfair advantage is a bad change because then you can't gatekeep the ability sequences that are spammy as hell and don't take any skill from players that are new to PvP/ don't do it that often :). Same with the dodge tech. I think it was STUPID in the first place that you could ROLL DODGE in a FREAKING CIRCLE to get behind you're opponent. Thank you AGS for evening the playing field and making PvP more accessable to everyone :D Sorry for the rant. I just hate when people, especially influencers, complain about good changes that support the LARGER playerbase (Casuals) :)

The real PTR will be the " live servers" I tried to test basic attacks spells on every patch because never a same . It will be the same here too , needed to test all attacks from basic .. In exemplary basic attacks have more damage agents" absorb type" armour . So if go get thrust perc based damage will increase but absorb damage will be less, it's complicated to explain. But so vierd. I'm sure not even AGS understand the armour damage reducing/ absorbing or armour percs or gem absorbing.
just out of curiosity how does redirecting your execute attack with a greataxe work on the freemove? since i tend to do that with my mouse would that now be done with arrow keys if the target moves?
if you enable the setting that your melee attacks will follow your mouse instead of the direction of your character then it will be the same feel as before with you redirecting the execute.
It's laughable for a game released almost 3 years ago to find itself still trying to figure out the combat. I imagine this game 3 years from now trying to figure out end game content and still fixing combat bugs
found someone who clearly doesn't know how to use their shift key. side dodges are an incredible movement tool when used right. you'd be less angry about it if you were skilled enough to understand and use it.
I am always using different weapons and i have had that issue with abilities not activating on several different weapons. Thought it might be my wireless keyboard but now i see it may be a bug.
i can tell you thats the best that can happen if 1 person does it bc the person understands his own code to 100% normaly. multiple person will have often the problem not everyone codes the same (but its still nw so y could be still bad)

I think that the cyclone and auto attack test is OK. This is somehow something good against cancelling animation. After all NW is not a game like ESO. Has more a tactical slow combat. If someone expects the opposite can go and play ESO.

Did they fixed the debuff/dot that doesn't stack ? Like if two people applies Hex from a gem on their weapon, does it stack yet or still not? As long as they don't fix that, this game is still in beta in my mind.
Combat is the only reason people stay at least pvp players, idk how any pver can think the pve in this game is good compared to something like wow which has had many many years to develop their progression and pve systems.

New World is made by robots. Once that clicks everything makes sense. It checks all the boxes but has no "soul". They don't stop and think about what emotions they are trying to to invoke in a player while doing any given thing. From combat to expeditions to PVP to Wars to Invasions. It all just checks a box.

The performance improvements sound nice. Maybe also a good sign for the console releases.

Sweep not connecting unless you are trying to block it... then it'll go right through block and connect :P
How do you do the greatsword animation cancel. I did not see you block or anything to stop the attack.
you heavy then press an ability with the right timing. it's very easy and doesn't need any special input. works with all weapons.

Freeform camera is way better though makes movement faster and speeds up game play in general

They only named the architect, there's probably many people actually converting the scripts to use the new system.

There may be problems with the hatchet due to your latency, which is 250-370. Just a guess
Other people have tested the Hatchet issues on better ping and in both cases it only affects 1 ability. Unlikely to be ping

That's not a bug, that's intended. They don't want dots of the same type to stack, including Runeglass.
They need a hotkey to toggle the movement so that you can press that, then press backward and dodge.
