I think Wemby ‘s Game will take time to develop like Giannis. Look how Giannis didn’t become MVP overnight, he was overlooked in draft and first few years but then became a beast after he became more muscular.

Wemby also doesn’t have Jason Kidd as his coach to ruin his jump shot form for no reason
He can't develop like Gainnis. He is supposed to have immediate impact, or show some form of domination. Year 4 giannis should be Wemby's year 1.
Ideally Wemby should just develop at his own pace like Giannis did for a few years then break out. Expecting him to breakout right away in first year or even first 4 years is unfortunate for him.

Nicks right about pumping the breaks it’s not a insult. I’m pretty sure shaq played a couple years in college not just one so he was older. Wemby should average 22 a game as a rookie which is one point more than luka did and a little more than lebron his rookie season. Lebron was also a year younger so that being said Wemby needs to average more than lebron. By his second year Wemby needs to take the huge step and be one of the best players in the league with his hype

Poor Wemby is treated like a circus act. He will never be what people are expecting of him. It's totally unfair. I hope he doesn't get affected by all this bad hype culture and just develops his abilities in San Antonio as best as he can. He needs protection and veteran guidance.

It sounds like Nick is predicting a Hakeem Olajuwon type career for Wemby. Great defensively immediately just like Olajuwon but will take a few years to develop the offence. Olajuwon is a top 5 centre and a top 10-15 player of all time which is a good expectation for Wemby
Too high of an expectation in my opinion. Hakeem is arguably the greatest defensive player of all time or at least he is in the top 5. And the dude won 2 rings and 2 finals MVPs without another real star with him. That's a TOUGH career to achieve

Honestly let's be real. Scoot is definitely gonna be ROY. He's the more ready offensive player. He can't shoot at a average clip yet. But he can shoot enough to average 22-24 now. Miller has to catch Melo's vibe. If they can eat together it might get ugly. Wemby isn't LeBron. Nobody is and nobody probably will ever be. But he can definitely be as affective as "Dream" or "KG" but nobody in this draft looks like a top 30 player. I'd love to be wrong though.

Also MANY players have balled out or won Summer League MVP and then were bums in NBA.
Summer league is like a mix of pro am, pre season, a summer gym run with college players and oversea pros.
It means next to nothing positively or negatively for NBA success.
Talking about shooting percentages, that makes sense. The problem was physically Wemby looked like he was bullied all night. That’s something that’s not going away without development/strength and conditioning. That said, his court vision and passing already looked top tier, so he could already be a great pass-first big man this year while he works on getting stronger.

@@superdopehiphop I kind of disagree. It means something that right now people are pushing Wemby around and he can’t get to his spot or get as many rebounds as he should. He can (and likely will) get stronger, but right now watching the game (not just looking at the stats) does have some value to saying how his rookie season will likely go.

That is his floor right now, and still is a piece that every team would want and could easily be the second best player on a champion team.
