To know that you've both written and directed the film by yourself while capturing the excellent theme and atmosphere! Great story and great acting because of your direction and capturing the image in your mind! So happy for you, you are definitely on the right path for greater good ^^
I’d really like to know more about how you sort of crafted this line of tension throughout. It’s like every seen had so much of it, and the only hint of release is the scene with Ray and the very last shot. It’s just beautiful.
The characters discomfort while conversing tells a lot about what has happened in the past. I loved how protagonist attempts to repair the bond that got severely ruptured at some point of time, while also struggling with his own life. It's a beautiful act of courage and determination. It felt right in the bones. That's a big difference a little kindness can make. Society in general isn't that kind towards people who mess up in life. People deserve to heal.
Great film Emmi! The tension from start to finish came through with the photography and the actors. One of the things that made it special…drug addiction is a horrible disease. I knew the main was trying to make amends but you could really feel his terror-almost like he was so afraid he’d slip up again. Well done!
This is brilliant! So much story being told through the small details and great writing. And incredible acting too. You guys captured how difficult this stage of recovery is so well. Amazing, can't wait to see more!
If there are 1,000,000 fans of this movie I am one. If there are 0, that means I’m dead. I’m going to go back in time and destroy my computer before I watched this movie so I can have the pleasure of watching it again for the first time. Emmi Shockley you’re a genius please come to Brazil!!! 🇧🇷
If I understand this correctly another chance was given. The chance was accepted and appreciated even though the weather extremes made it hard to enjoy. However it was still a victory and possibly the future.
Thanks for the role James, you were very convincing. At first I thought it was a maniac), but when everything fell into place, the story turned out to be very heartfelt. An excellent lesson in humanity was given on both sides.
This movie really impressed me! I felt so much for Louis seeing his experiences. He tried so hard to do his best and his feelings when the storm hit just tore my heart. But the fact that his brother “didn’t notice” this storm made me cry. This is a very good ending - sad and joyful at the same time. ❤
The shaky camera work in this makes it hard to watch. I mean, I suppose it's supposed to represent his uncertainty or inner turmoil or something, but it just makes viewing difficult. And I guess I was hoping for a bit more from the ending.
Should have named this flick, "Anxiety," instead of "Squall" Gave me anxiety just by watching this. I used to have a pan just like the one used in this short and made the Kraft Mac and cheese in it, too, like 45 years ago, I was his age. A box of that crap costs 35 cents then. It used to have real dried cheese in it. I'd eat the whole pan, by myself. It was breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everyone knows not to eat the fish, caught off the jetty. Sewage. Fish don't bite during bad weather. It sure didn't look like fun, either. What a suck brother.
