Hi everyone. I'm Glenn Berkenkamp, the writer, director, producer of GREY. I'm loving all the wonderful comments. 🙂 It seems our little film has found its way into the world at the perfect time. Feel free to ask me any questions. And thank you for watching and sharing Grey! PS. For those who told me they were unable to leave a review on IMDB, the comments and ratings function are now enabled.
@glenb On many levels, I feel you've made a beautiful piece of work in 'Gray'. I sincerely hope you keep up the great work in this format and eventually move to full length movies while still producing such valuable shorts. You are extremely talented. Thank you for putting this online.
@@riderinsanjose337 thank you for taking the time to write to me. And for such kind words. Yes, I plan to do a feature film next. But there is another short that I wrote years ago that I would love to make at some point as well. Thanks again for connecting.
What a ride!!! ~ 😃✨💕 ~ The emotions and take-away from this 13 minutes of filmmaking is truly PROFOUND!!!… and just what our troubled world needs a whole lot more of now. ~ BRAVO Glenn Berkenkamp for your extraordinary authorship AND brilliant production. This is a precious gift to humanity at just the right time!
Something like this happened to me. He wanted money which I didn't have and said he would kill me to do me a favor because he thought I was in a worse shape than he. He didn't kill me. Didn't shoot me and ended up going to dinner with me and living with me for a few months. I was a newly immigrant working for a midnight shift. One of my three jobs. . He was an immigrant too. While living with me he found a job as an auto mechanic and now 20 yrs later, he has a shop, a wife and 2 beautiful daughters. This story in reality could be true if every single one of us can see others as a plant who needs a good soil to grow. They need you to be that soil. Something good comes out of thinking like this. Thx for making this film.
@taro546, You are so welcome. When one sets out to make a film, they never know where it will lead. If Grey did nothing more than lead me to your comment, I would consider it a monumental success. Thank you for sharing this story with us. And for being that "good soil." I hope our paths one day cross. ❤🙏 Blessings, Glenn
There are very feel people that can have that composure, in real life. Experiencing high stress situations is the only way, I know, to get to that point.
@@emanuelps9638 True as well. But giving money to people described by you does not guarantee they won't shoot you. So, it is a game of chance either way.
I found this short film to have quite a powerful message. And think the acting was top notch. The whole thing takes place in one spot with only 2 characters interacting. And somehow, it managed to keep my attention throughout. Well done!
It takes great presence of mind to maintain that sort of calm with a loaded gun held in your face by some highly agitated aggressor.. This was a well-told parable that could have veered into tragedy. Kudos all around.

How refreshing to see a character breathe into the moment and the situation instead of reacting out of fear. Returning aggression with aggression invariably leads to harm and mayhem. This is a sweet example of how centeredness and loving kindness can defuse a situation. It leaves me with a smile instead of a sense of cynicism about humanity. Thank you, for making my day better, Glenn.
A small indie film that’s not small. A peak outside the matrix and inside the potential of the field of love. A worthy 13 minutes opening the door to a lifetime 💗💗💗

This is such a powerful, touching, and inspiring short film that is exceptionally well done. Too often, we feel surrounded by crime, hate, and rage in this world, painting a negative light on humanity. This film, however, focuses on the presence of good in all of our hearts. Set in a parking lot at night, the story unfolds between two people-one inside a car and the other outside, holding a gun. The tension is palpable, and the cinematography is riveting, drawing you into the intensity of the moment. Despite the seemingly grim setting, the film beautifully captures the essence of human kindness and the transformative power of compassion. The storytelling is poignant, and the performances are heartfelt, with each scene carefully crafted to evoke a range of emotions that resonate deeply with the viewer. This short film is a reminder that even in the darkest of situations, there is always a glimmer of light within us. It encourages us to believe in the power of goodness and to contribute to a more loving and empathetic world. It’s a must-watch for anyone seeking a message of hope and humanity.

I cannot say enough about this short, it's in my favorites for sure. Been in a similar incident that followed those events and they were spot on. It was the beginning of a Needy, clingy unhinged relationship. Love the Buddhist infusion as well with Grey centering himself through chants and centering his chi. Brilliant acting on both parts totally understood why you ended with them changing the tire. Great scene but I needed to see the end as the satisfaction of doing a job right, good convo and then hold hands into the moonlight. On a seriousness note helps him and how he does it. Damnit when is part 2? Who are you pitching it to?
Thank you for your kind words. ❤ I'm glad Grey landed so deeply in you. I love the power of film. As for part two, I've not given it much thought, but many have been asking. I'm currently focusing on an unrelated feature film that I wrote and plan to direct. Maybe Grey would make a good TV series? We shall see! Thanks for commenting. 🧡
At the risk of sounding cliché, I have no words - I'm speechless - wow, just wow. I won't be able to call him "just the kid next door," any more (he and his family were our neighbors for almost 50 years)! Glenn has truly TRULY become a brilliant author, screenwriter, director, producer, and more... ... the last 13 minutes and 36 seconds had me glued to the 6-inch screen of my iPhone. I want more of Grey, like every Sunday night at 9 PM more; who will he bring truth and awareness to next, more? On the big screen, more ... Nothing has hit me this hard since Glenn socked me in the eye with his wiffle bat when we were kids. Again with the clichés - you hit this one outta the park! All the best, Glenn, congrats! Big hug for my friend and former neighbor! ❤
Thank you. ❤❤ And thank you for your call. It's always so amazing to see just how deeply moving images can move us. I'm glad Grey spoke to your heart and soul. Sorry about the wiffel ball incident...but even Grey had a past. 😂 As for more Grey, maybe it'll become a TV series. At this point I'm moving forward on directing a feature I wrote. Blessings, Glenn

Im so glad i found this channel
I am too. ❤
Go Glenn Go!!!! What a beautiful movie 🙌 🎉❤
Thank you! Nothing like the Smartini seal of approval. 🙏
Absolutely loved this heartwarming video!
So happy to read this. I'm glad Grey warmed your heart. ❤❤
Great film!
Thank you!! ❤🙏
I will never get…wait for it…tired of watching this piece. :-)
What a BEAUTIFUL comment. Thank you! Fun fact: I've seen it hundreds of times and still find myself getting drawn right in.
We all need someone like the driver.
❤ yes.

Everything is top notch, and the story just so profound.
This world needs exactly this in these disturbed times.
This is riveting to the core stuff.

Thank you Omeleto 🙏
Thank you, @Henri377❤🧡 I am touched that Grey moved you in such a profound way. 🙏 The world certainly does need more empathy and goodness. I will continue to do my part. Blessings, Glenn
@@glennberkenkamp7852 thank you! So kind of you to reply. Each genuine kindness and act of love has a ripple effect, being woven into the tapestry of existence ✨
So real...
Thank you. 🙏
That was great.
I'm glad you liked it. ❤
Beautifully sentiment, but for many of us we can barely afford to feed ourselves these days.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs: Survival needs (food, clothing, shelter) come first, awareness and self-actualization needs comes last.
50 Shades of Gray: Mr. Grey Alberts is somewhere in the middle of the grayscale spectrum. He has a long way to go.
Waouhh ...so beautiful.
E commovente. Émouvant
Merci
You're welcome. I'm so glad to hear that you were moved by Grey. ❤🙂
Wow! Your video really touched me! 🥰
I'm glad you were moved by Grey. ❤
Wonderful. Intimate. True.
Thank you. 🙏
Overwhelming.
Very well done! Just one detail that by no means diminishes the substance of the story: in the opening cut, the car parks in the second slot from the parking light, but then it is in the third slot.
Excellent film!!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed Grey. 🙂
Truly heartwarming loved it.
I'm glad Grey touched you, Grisel. ❤🙂 Blessings on your path. 🙏
