Testing Wadcutters and two other pellet brands

  • In this video I test three different wadcutters at 25 yards, although they are meant to be used for 10 metre paper target punching.
    I also test two pellets that I haven't shot before. These are the Brazilian Rifle Dome and the Russian Kvintor Beta pellets. Some mixed results in windy conditions, but I wanted to test them to see how they performed. The Russian pellets didn't seem to suit the magazine, or barrel of the Daystate Air Wolf, where as the Brazilian pellets were quite good overall, with just two flyers out of the ten shots fired at 25 yards and 30 yards. More pellets to come in the future from Snowpeak, both standard and heavy weight.

    hi mark,,i dont think the wind was much to blame with the wadcutters as the bsa done really well apart from one stray one,but the bisley were all over the place,,imo i think apart from the bisley magnums the rest of them are poor pellets,the rifle pellets looked decent to and the russian pellets,well?nice to see you trying out different varieties for us air gunners who are watching,nice,,👍👍👍

    Thank you for your service sir and sorry for the loss of your friends. Not a big fan of getting older and fumbling around with .177 pellets. I find .22 and larger are obviously much easier to handle and load. I found a cheaper pellet in .22 that shoots very well and the consistency is quite good in fact. Daisy 15.27 grain Hollow Points from Spain. Great for target, plinking, and hunting. In a 12 grove Chinese Nova Vista barrel they would easily hold under 1” at 50 yards at speeds up to 900 FPS down to 550 FPS. Amazon has been the best place so far to get them. You might be surprised by them. God bless.

      I'll look out for some and give them a go. Pointed pellets don't normally do so well, but I have seen a couple perform really well on the TH-cam creator videos. Mike from M&B PCP Review and Brett from Macabespeed have used some to good effect.

      @@airgunsniper-elite7385 sir these ARE NOT POINTED BUT HOLLOW POINT. They look NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE ON THE LABEL I PROMISE! They have a very deep “V” shaped hollow and may in fact be the base pellet for the Gamo Red Fire but are FAR more accurate in my guns than the Red Fire sir. Even in my pump guns they are tack drivers compared to other pellets of higher value.🤷‍♂️💯

    I like the way you include the semi budget pellets against the expensive ones, keep the data coming mate...

      Thanks Mark. I try my best. We all know that the top end pellets cost a lot, but sometimes you can find a close alternative that doesn't break the bank. Hopefully with this rang of pellets we will have some alternatives. I ordered some 10.34, but they are out of stock and the main importer is waiting for the next shipment. Definitely worth waiting for though I think.

    I like the snow peak 8.4s , although the majority of the tin weigh in at 9 grains,if you sort through the pellets though you get a good performing pellet.

    I use wad cutters in my pistol, but that's about it, from me you can't beat the diablo design, especially in sub 12 power.

    Rifle pellets seem to prefer BSA barrels,try them through your R10 you will probably get a better result for grouping, I’ve used the dome ones but the premium series is the better one,my Gamo Phox put 10 through one hole and my R10 is making a 6mm hole with ten of the premium series,if you get them for testing the tin says 8.3 grain but they come in from 8.5 to 8.9 giving you an average of 8.77 I know I weighed a full tin of 500

    Have you ever tried the RWS Supermag at 9.3 grns Mark,very interesting for a wadcutter being that heavy in .177..plus side is they are very cheap

      @airgunsniper-elite7385  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not tried the RWS Supermag yet, or the Hyperdome, but will be doing in the future.

      Will do. They didn't seem to suit that particular rifle barrel like the Rifle Dome's did.

      I will have to try them. I have only just found out about this range of pellets. I am sure that when the stocks are replenished they will sell very well. Will definitely be trying the other options when they become available again.

    Bought a tin of them kavintor pellets last xmas , not the same sort as the ones your testing , and to be honest , I dont speak russian , and the label is printed in it , anyway , there AWEFUL , absolutely aweful .. come in a nice dispenser type tin though , think im gonna tip the pellets in the bin and just use the tin ...
    Think big dan uses the Rifle PREMIUM diabolo mostly , and with good effect , and for the life of me , I cant find any for sale anywhere .. all I can find is the wadcutter PREMIUM by Rifle ... anyway , great vid , and too be fair , quite a lot of wind blowing around in the East Mids .. groups ( even with the eastern block garbage ) would probably have tightened up a tad ... bit of scope for the BSA's though , think they would do ok on a still day

      They worked like a shotgun through that rifle. Strange how one pellet is pellet on pellet, then the next is all over the place.

    Aren't the new BSA pellets made by H & N ?

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure who makes the BSA range, but it could well be H&N. On the tin it just says made in the EU and I don't think Check Republic are part of that, so not JSB.

      It's been raining most days for about a week now, but good weather is supposed to be on its way over the next few days. JSB pellets are getting hard to find the World over, which has helped to push prices up. I have found that the Chinese airgun manufacturer Snowpeak have now started to make a selection of pellets to take JSB on. I have received the first two tins of 177 8.33 grains today with the 10.3 grains ordered. They cost half the price of the JSB, so if they are any good we'll have a good alternative until things get back to normal. I have ordered them from a company called Pellpax here In the UK.
