I feel like the entire idea of an abandoned place made for human interaction is just creepy on its own, like when you walk out of class on a almost empty day. The absence of a focal point like a human or creature of any sort is what gives it its eerie feeling of loneliness. Seeing nostalgic places abandoned makes us sad or unnerved because you remember being there, but you don't know why. This is why it feels this way. You feel like you've been there and you hold a sentimental value to these images and seeing them empty is like a horror.

Liminal Spaces make me feel like im a protagonist in a post apocalyptic video game or movie where everything is almost exactly the same, though somehow off in a frightening way. Like I'm visiting a ghost town where no one is around, yet it feels like somthing is waiting just beyone the next wall or doorframe.

it's your first month of middle school, and you've forgotten your homework binder. it's 4:23- the school's almost closed, but you manage to get in by begging the receptionist.
you walk through the darkened hallways and search desperately for your locker, terrified you'll be locked inside. after what feels like forever, you hear a dull bang that could've come from anywhere. you're locked inside, and the lights have gone out.

How to make a liminal space :
    1. Find a room. Make sure there is no windows in the room, people, or traces of people (like photos)
    2. Put eerie lighting, like put a light bulb that's barely working in a lamp or something.
    3. (optional) When you take the photo, have flash on for extra creepiness
    4. (Optional) put something nostalgic in the room. Something that the majority had in there childhood. (Like crayons)

When i was in elementary school i had to go to a special ed class to help with math and reading
And they had a table like this with another sqaure table connecting on it
so one day when coming back from the toliet i saw that the teacher wasnt looking so i crawled under the table and poked my head up through the little half circle and said something like calling all power rangers anyway the teacher didnt like it but she didn't like it cause it disrupted the class but the other kids laughed so i found it good

The picture of the thumbnail reminds me of a specific day when I was in nursery or pre kindergarten. I was around 2 or 3 at the time and I was alone. My parents were talking to the teacher in the room next door and non of the other children were there. I don't know why I remember that so specifically but I have never been able to get that one memory out of my head and it has been 12 years since it happened. Every few months I have a dream about it and that image always seems to be there.

Most of the settings are in places like in the photos, abandoned but mostly untouched, preserved unlike a typical abandoned building. Walking through empty liminal office corridors waiting for someone to jump out and attack you, which would happen very rarely. But that is what made it one of the scariest games of all time. I think the emotion that liminal spaces convey would be the same that the Uncanney valley does, but with places instead of human beings. You sort of recognize that you are seing a place that fits in the structure or aesthetic of the real world, but it kind of feels fake due to the lack of humans and other factors. Doesn't feel comfortable, doesn't feel completely real.

Liminal spaces just remind me of this dream I had once. It was my house, completely normal, but no one was inside. I could tell it was a dream instantly, but I had no control over anything. Everything was in it's place but slightly off. The small toy skeletons hanging off the wall from Halloween a couple years back was gone. The Coca Cola poster my dad hung on the wall and the flag from his work on his bedroom door, I couldn't read the words, they were there but smudged. My desk was perfectly clean instead of the cluttered mess it always is. The shower curtain was bright colorful shapes instead of the moon image, my plushies were on my bed but the pillows and blankets were gone.
Since I live in an apartment, I went out into the main hall and it was pretty much the same. I couldn't read the doorplates, the carpet pattern was completely different, all of the lights were out, and the stair door was locked and everything behind that small window was blurred. I went to the cubby-like area with a giant window and looked outside, the sky was pure glowing white. The sidewalk was lowered by an inch or two, a thick fog covered everything and the trees, despite being close to the window, were just black silhouettes. I could see the park that's right next to the building, completely empty, but the office building was moved farther away. I never saw another being throughout the entire dream, except for an inanimate version of my cat sitting on the toilet.
