For me, there's no question Andy killed this girl. Riley herself said he was in her room and she was scared. He'd been abusing her already. Probably the only reason he got involved with Chantelle was to get access to Riley. He's a predator.

It's terrifying that there are so many men out there targeting single mothers just so they can easily prey upon their daughters. The number of cases I know personally are staggering, and it makes me terrified to date again. Having kids and a partner who isn't their parent isn't mutually exclusive, there are tonnes of amazing step dads and step moms who end up being amazing important parts of their kids lives. You just have to be extremely careful. This case was the mums drug and or alcohol use that influenced her partner choice and doomed her child.

I know this because I have had friends who've had to plead 'guilty' in court just so that they could get out of jail as soon as possible. They could have pleaded not guilty but that would have meant longer time in jail. So it's not just about their admission of guilt. So many people make this assumption and it's incorrect.

You can't trust not a one of em. I would say, step fathers are less likely to view their step daughters sexually if they help to raise them from babyhood/young ages, but even then it sometimes happens, and i would say that girls are safer with their bio dads, but even THEN it happens every day. So it's just something to be wary of at all times as a mother. Never your fault, but there are red flags and there are steps that can be taken.

@@JennRighter I grew up in poverty and my room was a mess but my bed was a bed and not a mattress on the floor. I always feel bad for kids with just a mattress, that was how it was a while when I was un college…but by then I’d learned to keep my stuff neat and clean even tho still poor as hell. I worked by butt off and bought a bed. I worked with kids in shelters a bit and we had one teen boy come in…and we showed him his bed and he was so amazed-He’d never Had a bed before! He’d slept on a backporch thin plastic couch always-even in the winter-they didn’t let him sleep inside. Just gave him an extra blanket. Adults can be awful people. He was quite the shoplifter. But ya know he’d had to find food somewhere. I had to watch him close because I also didn’t want him getting arrested again for it.

My cousin was murdered when she was 10 and I was 13 because I had told my mom what I had seen that day, she called the police. The police went out spoke to precious (my cousin) she denied the events, they left. That night my uncle murdered her, and her momma.... he left a voice-mail on our home phone blaming me for what he'd done. I have never gotten over that guilt. She didn't check on Riley when she got home from work and didn't bother to look for her when she wasn't there in the morning. Maybe she genuinely didn't know about the abuse, but her neglect definitely contributed to it. Why was Riley able to confide in her friends but not her mother? Why was that creep comfortable going into Riley's room with her mother at home? Riley's mother didn't pay the ultimate price, Riley did.

And there are so many cases that we never heard about .And SA or murder are only the extreme consequences of giving a stranger full access to your kids. From what I noticed most of the single mothers are used by predatory types. Not all of them are necessarily violent murderous or perverted but they are still exploitative or even predatory if we talk about those who are serial single mom daters.they use these desperate women for shelter drug money sex basically to be mothered themselves. And cluster b men are the most prone types to seek to be mothered. And after they get bored they move on and find another and another and another. There are plenty dolts ...sorry fish for them . And in top of thiswe can't express the truth because we judge. And kids get killed.

I dated an extremely nice, extremely wealthy man for two years before he even met my son, then waited to live together until my son left for college. We are married now and my son is doing great!
