The van didn't stop, the driver did, because he didn't like how deep the water was getting. He reversed out just fine. The only damage is to the front license plate.
Judging by the reverse noise, its electric or at least hybrid and the driver just reversed out after thinking better, or if its a hybrid the engine may have quit
Note that the number plate was hanging off before they entered the water, which means that they had already been through floods and probably thought that they could get away with it. In reality, the air filter was probably already soaked. If you have been lucky once, don't assume your luck will hold.

Ben, that thumbnail and opening scene are pure art! I love it. Has a really nice composition to it with the cars strewn around. I also love how they are all half floating still. I can't quite follow people's thought processes though. Sure, driving into a small ford that is deeper than expected. I can see that happen. But driving through what is essentially a raging river just seems nuts. It boggles my mind.
Just how stupid have you got to be to drive up to that, see one car stuck the same size as yours but carry on anyway, then see two cars and still carry on...
it is perplexing.. I mean, we can understand that not all people know an engine breathes.. or that liquids cannot be compressed and water will win against engine blocks, pistons and conrods.. but to see other people conked out, but to carry on anyway.. that aspect is very strange.

Almost certainly not. Excessively onerous terms in consumer contracts, prescribing liabilities that the provider can easily insure against, are likely to be unenforceable.
@@sam.p12345 Any insurance for sheer stupidity should be denied. It’s a van, not an amphibious vehicle. Basic intelligence would tell you not to take anything through any water higher than an ankle (at best).

What I wonder about is: There were two people in their small car, driving into that small lake, seeing one car already floating there. What were they both thinking? 🤯
There should be a board at every ford or common flooded road displaying the number of write offs, each time there is a flood. Nothing else seems to deter the chancers..... Should also be made part of the theory test for new drivers. The damage flood water can do to vehicles, their engines, electronics etc.
Perhaps ‘Hello Fresh’ could be renamed, Hello. This is your P45. Yep. If you drive a hired van. You better make sure the insurance covers intentionally driving in floods.
