Thanks for the Video. I had to watch your video again about the HDMI in motion wire. I added a RaspberryPi to my JKU. Actually, my Heigh10 came with the bullet plugs on the light green wire and the ground so it was an unplug and plug together.
good video, I got my stinger heigh10 for my jl, almost done, seems to be working fine. My question is what plugs did you use to hook up aftemarket cams? I have 2 cams to add.
On your 10 pin multi camera harness, it should have the wires labeled for you. 2,3, and 4. I just used those. I purchased aftermarket cameras that connected to it. I know the video got kind of blurry when I zoomed in but that's what I did. Actually, I have to pull mine out tomorrow to change a wire. If you haven't figured it out already, send me a friend request to FB or IG and I'll try and get a good pic tomorrow and send it to you. My info is in my profile.
Holy Smokes, I just saw this. I apologize. You probably have figured out a solution by now. But if not, you could just purchase a Roku Ultra. It runs off of 12v, so you can connect it to a power source in your vehicle. Connect it to the HDMI and you're good to go. And it will play videos from USB as well. The unit will play videos from USB. But only in one format. The Roku ultra plays multiple formats.
Hey man. Good video. So I would cut that green wire out of the 16pin head unit after that plastic connector and before it goes into the pac unit and ground it while leaving the rest of the green wire going into the pac unit still? Thanks again!
Thanks. Yes. The green wire shouldn't be connected to anything. I only used the plastic connector to add another piece of wire to it. Normally that green wire would connect to the Brake wire. I think the brake wire is red/white. That way when you put the vehicle in park, it grounds the wire and you can play videos. But by grounding it yourself, it does the same thing. You can do this with most aftermarket units that play videos. The only thing is that the color of the wires might be different on different units. With that being said, make sure you look at the directions to make sure that the light green wire is the parking brake wire.
Yea. It would be nice if installers would let you know all of the features. Don't feel bad though. I didn't know at first either. And I was my installer.😂 But... At least you know now.🤙
Now that you mention it, I've never paid attention to the fact that the guidelines weren't there. I guess I need to go check and see. I know there's settings for it, but I'll have to check.
@@GoChangeYaLife thanks... I saw one person doing it on this head unit but I'm 90% sure they were using an external picture in picture box to merge the cameras into a splitscreen then fed into 1 input on the head unit. Seems like a missed opportunity for a feature to be integrated if it doesn't have it.
I got the phone holder from www.pbicustoms.com out of Texas. Really good people. Once you get the dash bar, you can use Ram mounts or any phone holder, tablet holder, etc. with it. I've had 5 devices on it at once just to test it offroading and it's great. And I think there's one other company that makes them as well. I also got a set of custom door sills from them. I'll give you a couple links. And the rear view mirror, I got from Amazon. It has a built in monitor. I started using it about 2yrs ago with a 4 way camera setup but since I have the Stinger I don't use the monito anymore. I just like the size. Lol. a.co/d/0As8MIE

So, the cameras that I have installed are aftermarket cameras. They're not the ones you get from Stinger. I did this because I installed them in a different location for a different purpose. My cameras only have positive, negative, and the video (RCA) wire. Having said that, I connected each trigger wire to the positive wire for each camera. Grounded the negative to the vehicle and connected the video wire.
It may vary with the type and brand of external camera you're using. With the cameras that I brought, I had to wire them to the trigger wire and still have to wire them to 12V power. I would be very selective in the type of cameras you purchase. If I can remember, my old cameras didn't need both wires connected.
I actually tried to do a little research. So, the Stinger unit uses RCA inputs for it's external cameras. But... for the factory rear camera, it uses the factory wire with an adapter (just like most of the connections). I looked at the front trail cam and because it connects to the box for the driver assist, the connection is different than any of the trail cams on the market. There are a few different types of connectors out there. And I don remember the Stinger install manual saying anything about the stock front trail cam. I could be wrong though. It may have an adapter for the front trail cam or it may not. I don't know because my JT didn't come with the stock front cam. I do know that there are many aftermarket options available. The best answer that I could give you would be to contact Stinger. If they give you an answer, please update. There may be someone else with that same question.
@@GoChangeYaLife I got an answer from Stinger today. “Hi, both the front and rear factory cameras in the JL and Gladiator models will interface with the HEIGH10 radio replacement kit (RB10JW18B).”
