  • In this Jazz Drummer Q-Tip of the Week drum set video, I am sharing a vlog of my incredible tour of this drum factory of Tama drums. I had a great time learning more about how Tama drums are made and the meticulous care they take with each and every drum. My incredible tour of this drum factory was fantastic and I think drummers will enjoy this VLOG of my incredible tour of this drum factory.

That solo. Wow. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that’s the sweetest thing I’ve heard in a long time. The drums sound awesome, but it takes a great drummer to make them sing. Very inspirational. I enjoyed that immensely. Love this channel I’m learning quite a lot. 👍👍 and btw I gotta give a shout out to those beautiful cymbals. What a great sound. Just gorgeous.

I love the vintage Superstars. I bought a kit in 1983 and still own it. The Tom’s are thunderous. Mics love them.

I have 2 six piece Tama kits. A Star Bubinga with rosewood veneer and a star classic in deeper purple both with matching snares. The star classic is from China. Thank you for this video. I love playing my Tama drums they are both exquisite looking and sounding!

These guys make awesome drums, and so does their Chinese plant. I have a Superstar Hyperdrive Maple and it sounds killer. Didn't want to spend a fortune as I didn't know how long I'd stay living in China, but had DW Collector and Sonor Designer and Signature before. The Hyperdrives sound great, no regrets, kick is a cannon, and Tama has some of the best hardware in the business. Thanks for the tour. I'm definitively getting a Star soon. Tony WIlliams Yellow of course, in honor of Stewart Copeland and Phil Gould.

Spanish Ned here. Thank you so much Quincy for the fantastic tour around the Tama drum factory of miracles. The sound of the kit you are playing is unbelievable and the finish is gorgeous and deep. A full spectrum of sound, clear as a bell at all levels of touch and the whole kit integrates so sweetly. Lovely people there too. I would love to hear those drums live and / or in the studio some day.

I have a 1st Gen Starclassic Performer (Mahogany/Birch) and I love it. Tama drums have this distinctive sound. You can hear it no matter what the shell material is. Listen to Cobham, Phillips, Peart, Copeland. There's a common sound even though they all tune their drums differently and use different heads. And the drums are beautiful to look at.

    • @drumqtips
      @drumqtips  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

How cool that you have the first Starclassic Performer kit. And you are absolutely right. Tama drums no matter the line has always had a distinctive sound. Thanks Danny!

Hello Quincy, thank you for taking us on this very interesting factory tour. And I would also like to thank TAMA for their hospitality. I was really impressed with the precision and workmanship of the drum sets. I used to play the first version of the Starclassic drums, made in birch wood, beautifully finished and sounded great. Greetings Erwin and looking forward to the next video.

Thanks for the Inspiration. I'm just an ol' wht. Funker Age 73. 60 years of GIGS. All levels. My first band with my Twin on Organ was
a SOUL BAND. We were playing HighSchool Proms before we were in High School. We had an amazing singer: Hosie B. Pitchford.
We were 14 and he was 24. A match made in Heaven. Our other "funk brothers" had a band, Project Soul. We would sit in with them and
they would rent our Hammond B-3 for their bigger shows around The San Francisco Bay Area. That band became known as CON FUNK SHUN.
Felton Pilate was only 15 years old in my high school drum line when he asked me: Dan, How do I get in a band?? We introduced him to our
famed musical brothers in Project Soul and the rest is History. We still talk on the phone. Felton also produced Bobby Brown and
ConFunkShun is still touring. God Bless you, My Musical Brother

I bought my first new drum set in 1976. It was a Tama Imperial Star Saturn 12 + 1 set in the satin white finish. The concert toms were 9-ply with 3 plies of fiberglass. I sold the set in '86, but after seeing this video, would like to get them back and restore them. Great video and inspiring. 👍

This process is amazing to see. It must have been unbelievable to witness first hand. The sheets of plywood blew my mind. So strong but so flexible at the same time. I’m looking forward to watching the new video. I see it just dropped today. Back in the 80s I remember all the rehearsal studios had Tama drums and it was all metal bands playing them. However, now I see more variety of drummers using Tama. I saw Rayford Griffin with Jean-Luc Ponty just before the Covid lockdown and his Tama drums sounded phenomenal. FP

These drums are beautiful, such finish work. Did you get to see how they added reinforcement rings to some of the shells? Also, how many shells do they complete each day or month, and how many square feet or meters is this building? It's impressive that the floor in the building is clean and the sound is fairly quiet, especially with the typical sawdust issues working with wood.
